I want to change to Google as the default search engine in Safari. In terminal, when I input "vi," this is what I get...
None of the 3 comments on the terminal screen make sense, although I did tried all 3.
IS there a terminal command to make sure that my default search engine is alwaysgoogle.com and not google.it or google.se or any place I am travelling to, since VERY OFTEN the results are MANY LESS than using the .com goggle site and I DO NOT want to be logged in google to save the settings, which are anyway erased by my security and privacy tool?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was doing a search tonight and noticed that it bounced over to Google. I have Bing as my default search engine in my Safari preferences. As a test, I changed my default to Yahoo and the same thing happened. I closed out Safari and started it up again. When I entered some search criteria in the field, it showed the words "--Bing Search" just like before, but Google then took over. How can I fix this?

I am unable to use the search window on the right to get results when Google is selected as the search engine.I type in a search term and I am directed to a blank google search page. I have to type in the search term again, then I see a list of "hits". But when
I click on one of these hits I am not directed to the URL displayed. I have quit out of Safari and relaunched. I have rebooted my Mac. Neither changes the problem... This is a Google problem: I have the same symptoms when I use Safari on Windows XP. When I switch the search engine to Bing, the problems go away, for both platforms Has Google been hacked? Is this a Google attack on Safari? How can I enter GoGoDuck as a search engine choice?

On my macbook pro which is using mountain lion, by safari search engine preferences is set to google, but when i enter a search term it defaults to bing. Only noticed this problem after downloading adobe flash player for what it's worth.

The Folders keep snapping open and when i release click it drops the selected folder in the folder below and not in-between the two folders i want to order them in. I have turn off spring loaded folders. Also i can't seam to organise them alphabetically like you can with a right click option in windows.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThrough some scripting mishap, I accidentally ended up with two copies of everything in my iTunes library. One was in lossless format, the other in AAC. I just went through and deleted all the AACs by hand. I'm worried that I might have accidentally deleted a lossless copy though, in stead of the AAC copy. Is there a way I can search through the trash (via terminal presumably) to make sure there are no lossless files in there? It'd be so easy if they didn't have the same extension.

Snow leopard terminal preferences seems to only change the first terminal window opened. For example I have new windows set to open with 'pro' theme, only the first window does this. If I hit cmd-n for a new window, it's the basic theme with the default size. If anyone knows the commands i can throw in .bash_profile to change the bg color and size of window, please let me know, I guess that's the workaround.

I'm looking for the Terminal commands that would enable me to substitute an existing Mac OS X sound for the ones I don't like. (I'm not looking to create or find online other sounds; I'm happy to just use the ones that come with Mac OS X.)
