View 5 RepliesI'm using a 2.4GHz MacBook, and Safari 4 takes 20-25 seconds too open up... Does it take that long for you? It's weird because no other application that I have takes even close to that long to open.
View 7 Replies View RelatedLately, Safari seems to load pages and videos more slowly. I have reset my modem for my wireless internet, updated mac software, emptied the cache, as well as reset safari.

Is it my Mac or Safari that is the problem? Every website comes up so slowly now on Safari. I have emptied the cache. My husband is working next to me on his PC and his sites come up instantly, so its not our internet connection.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have DSL and AirPort Extreme on Snow Leopard imac. Web pages on Sarfari have been loading very slowly lately. I have the Activity window open (Sarfari>Window>Activity) to show all the page items as they are loading. The web pages usually get hung up and not all page items load. I have to Stop and Reload, sometimes several times to get the web page to load completely. This is very frustrating as I've been re-checking AirPort, Browser, and Mail settings. The Mail application runs fine.

For about a week or so now, my Safari has been loading webpages incredibly slowly. It will often display the message 'server cannot be found/reached'. I have absolutely no idea what's causing this. I know it's not my actual connection, because I can play World of Warcraft with an average latency of 60ms, and direct download large files at a speed I expect.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have seen a few postings about Safari loading slowly since the upgrade to Yosemite but this is really starting to aggravate me now. I am having no problem whatsoever when loading the same pages in Firefox - which in fact is how I am having to write this posting.Â

I just recently purchased a new macbook pro, see sig. At first it ran awesome. Now all of a sudden its very laggy while scrolling on web pages, even without heavy flash content. My magic mouse is also slightly unresponsive. It tracks very slowly, and is choppy while following my movements. I know it is not just the mouse because It worked fine on my other computer. At this point, I have tried restarts, battery pulls, etc. And nothing seems to be working. At this point I am considering a complete OS re install. It seems really bad when Its hooked up to my external monitor.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Mac pro has been freezing recently which requires me to hard boot and I'm not quite sure whats going on. Let me go a bit more into detail. Now when I say freeze, I don't mean beach balling, I mean literally the entire screen is motionless and I must hard reboot. Its odd really, the computer only freezing when doing certain tasks, such as when I render 3D graphics with Cinema4D, or whenever I play certain games on steam.I have recently installed windows as a partition for bootcamp, but I don't believe that is the issue. I have experienced the freezes while running my machine in both Windows and Mac. Its important to note that when booting my Mac in SAFEMODE, the freezing does not occur while performing the same tasks. So this leads me to believe there is a process going on thats causing the computer to freeze up? What I think I have managed to rule out as problems:
- Not a Hard Drive failing issue, I booted from my backup hard drive and the freezing still occurs.
- Not a Heat issue, I've installed iStat and my top temperature barely raises to 60 degrees celsius when freezing occurs.
- Not an issue with the Windows partition, as I booted from my backup drive that is without the partition and the freezes still occur.
- Not a Ram issue, I took my ram cards out and swapped them around.Â
One other things... Not sure if this is relevant, but upon one of the freezes, I rebooted and got this on my startup screen, It was bizaar and it froze here as well. This only occured once but I snapped a photo of it.
Recently, spotlight just stopped calculating math functions and I'm not sure why. When I enter an equation, it doesn't try to solve it, but it still finds files with the numbers included and other hits. It's mostly a minor nuisance, but I have no idea why it even stopped, since everything else seems to work fine.

Here is my setup:
Hard drive 1: Mac OS
Hard drive 2: Windows (installed via Bootcamp)
If I do an Erase and Install of Mac OS on drive 1, will my Windows drive still show up if I go to System Preferences > Startup Disk?
Now that ive downloaded lion from the cloud, and my original install disc is no longer valid, how do i go about repairing, fixing permissions, etc?

My MacBook Pro has been running quite slow ever since upgrading from Snow Leopard to OS X Lion 10.7.3. Applications were already very slow to quit in Snow Leopard but are incredibly slow in Lion. I often have to force quit.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of researching my next notebook purchase. If people could attempt to maintain an unbiased viewpoint that would be very useful. I'm a qualified accountant currently offering personal tax and finance advice. The form factor I've decided on is 15". I've considered the 13" but I can't justify giving up the screen real-estate (and the fact I'd go for the hi-res screen) for the added mobility. My everyday tasks are split between work and home use. As a general oversight these include multimedia, photo editing and extensive MS Word/Excel. Assuming I go Mac OS I will also require decent Virtualization performance on the occasion I need to run Windows software I use for my work. The packages cannot be found in Mac OS form.
The following factors are also important:
-Build Quality
-Battery Life
-Value for Money Hardware & Specification
From the first two points you can see why I am considering the 15" mid-range i5 MBP. But I am struggling to overcome the third point. For example a similar specfied Vaio E Series is approx. $1000 ($700) a-drift and includes a BDVD player. But bad experiences with windows notebooks have taught me that they are generally built to last 18-24 months at the very best. If I could find a machine with the build quality and battery life of a MBP with a windows OS I'd be more than happy. Don't get me wrong, I love Mac OS, however the financial industry in the UK seems to be significantly dominated by Windows software and I refuse to run two machines.
My Macbook Air (OS X; version10.7.5) with 2 GB of memory is now getting the frequent appearance of the 'color wheel' preventing me from performing any functions. What does this mean and how do I correct the problem?

Does anyone have instructions for the new macbook Air 128Gb ssd, how to do a clean install, if you follow the procedures from the first model, you can omit the printer driver, other languages etc. but the applications are on a second DVD called Application DVD (unlike the 1st Macbook Air where it was Mac OS system disk 1 and 2) and its all or nothing, I didn't check the box and all the apps were installed, I don't need Garage Band, IMOVIE or IDVD etc, has anyone come across this and a solution for it, maybe not insert the applications DVD to save the additional disk space?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI experienced what I believe was a crash so after various attempts at doing a time machine restore, I performed an erase of the HDD and have been trying to install snow leopard from a disk I bought from the Apple store. I am not sure if the disk is the whole OS X or not as it was purchased to upgrade from the OS X that was on the machine. I am hoping to do a time machine backup to get my old programmes/software back afterwards but in the meantime just cannot seem to get snow leopard on my iMac.

I ran out of hard drive space. 7 gigs left out of 85. So I wiped and reinstalled, to try to speed things up, get rid of any fragmentation, etc. I have yet to install Photoshop, and I think I may have a few .plist files left to transfer over, but right now, with ALL of my data back on it, I have 35 gigs free. That's 28 more then I did before.

Youtube works extremely fast while NHL Gamecenter and Hulu drag along. Netflix also runs perfectly fine, and I can download at a consistent 5MB/S on Itunes. Also, my 5 year old PC plays Gamecenter and Hulu just fine. I have the latest version of flash player.

I have 62gb available (when I opened finder this was at the bottom of the folder), and 2GB of memory when I checked 'about this mac'. I dont understand why this is happening, I have Sophos Anti Virus and Iantivirus they say their are no threats, I update my software regularly. Am I missing something? Currently I have openoffice running with one document open and I am using google chrome.

I have purchased the MAC mini with 10.7.3 and installed our software, but the software run slowly on the 10.7.3.I tried to remove the network cable, then it run correctly. So, I think maybe some system application will check the software on-line, that cause the software run slowly.I need to find out the system application and kill it. our software can run correctly on the MAC OS 10.4.x, 10.5.x and 10.6.x when the network works fine.

Funny thing happened today while I took out my MBP and tapped it to the charger. The battery indicator shows one dot not being light up while my MBP was fully charged while the computer was turned off by the way. So I was wondering if over time, like say a week or two that even though your MBP is turned off can it still discharge at a slow rate.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay, basically, I've had my PowerBook for a little over 2 years. Over the last few months, it's been incredibly slow. For example, I can only load one or two tabs at a time in Safari before the 'rainbow spinning wheel of death' appears, and takes a couple of minutes to leave, and load the page. This type of thing happens across the board, on pretty much all applications.
