Does anyone know why Safari and Mail vanish from the dock after putting them in only seconds before? I've seen other threads on this one of which suggested it could be a syncing problem. However I can confirm it is not as I've disabled dock syncing. I'm looking at a system reinstall if I can't fix it! I'm on 10.5.6 if that helps.

i was customizing my dock including the indicators tried to replace the files, an i tried to restore it manually with CandyBar , and Dock Switcher.'
i never got the indicators to change, there still the same. but....
it seems to have gone back with the 3d Dock , BUT when i make the indicators real small , they dissapear. if the dock is big or medium the indicators are there,
i rebooted an same thing.

I'm having a strange problem with my dock and dashboard, whenever I add Items to either they quickly vanish, not allowing me to change them. With the dock, I can't add Flash CS4 to the dock, it will just appear, then disappear. With the dashboard, I can't add any widgets I've downloaded without the dashboard closing to desktop. I've tried reinstalling the widgets, no luck. Has anyone had this problem before, or know how to fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHere is a bug in Leopard that made me loose some important files. I tested this in different Macs: I had many text files in the .rtf and the .rtfd format. They were sorted by type inside a folder and I wanted to group them together. To group these text files together, I manually changed the .rtf extensions to .rtfd. Then, I opened these files using TextEdit and dragged an image inside each of the .rtfd text files. and tried to Save only (not with a new name).
Here is a step by step:
1- Open TextEdit and save a .rtf file
2- Manually change the extension to .rtfd
3- Open the .rtfd file and drag an image inside the text.
4- Try saving it. TextEdit will ask if you want to just Save it or Save with a new name. Click "Save" only.
5- Voila!!! Your file vanished forever !!!!
Any idea how to do the above? I have it set up on my mac mini but cant remember how I did it to set it up on my new MBP? Its def not a mail rule.

It will be one or two songs from a CD, all the songs originally imported a long time ago, or something recently downloaded. Sometimes if I select locate, they can be found, but most the time the songs have vanished and won't turn up in searches, but are still listed in iTunes.

View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen trying to print to ANY printer whether it be a network printer or a locally attached USB printer. The machine is as stated, an iBook G4. The OS is OS X 10.4.1. The printers involved are a Sharp ARM450n, a Sharp MX 2300 both networked and a Brother hl5150d, connected via USB. All printers show up in the printer dialogue box as installed, all of the latest drivers are installed and when I attempt to print, the system claims it printed, no matter what printer I send the print job to. I just don't get any documents. The print jobs just vanish! I have searched on this forum for a solution, not to mention googling Mac printer issues on the internet. I have searched high and low for a solution with no luck. I've tried stripping out all of the drivers and starting fresh. I've tried resetting the print system, I've tried appletalk/ethertalk, I've tried bonjour, I've tried tcp/ip printing, all to no avail. All of the other computers (an assortment of approximate 35 different Macs can ALL print to the printers with this one exception. The computer is hard wired to the network and can access the internet, I can ping the printers, ping other computers and I can also ping the computer that is having the print issues.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince updating Safari recently to 5.1.5, if I choose the Mail Link to This Page command, instead of opening Mail.app with a new email with the link pasted in, it launches Google Chrome and, in Chrome, goes to the email login page for Google webmail. If I choose the Mail Contents of This Page command, I get an error message stating: "Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome.app doesn't support sending webpages from Safari. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages." Safari is set as my default browser. This behavior started immediately after the 5.1.5 update.I use these commands pretty regularly and, through many version of mail.app and Safari, there has never been a glitch. Any ideas, folks? Or is this a bug introduced by 5.1.5 or some other recent Software Update? (Software updates are completely up to date and on 10.7.3.)

For some reason I can't figure out how to make Safari take up the whole screen and be behind the dock. iTunes will do this but safari will not. I've looked through all the settings and can't find anything... Just wondering if maybe there is a mod or something I can download to fix this.

My dock and menu disappear only when I am using Safari. They re-appear when I hover my mouse at the location that they should be at, but for some reason their default positions are to be hidden.The dock and menu are present for all other apps and when I'm on the desktop--basically whenever Safari isn't "chosen" as the active window. I have checked to make sure that Safari is NOT in Full Screen mode.

After updating my OS X which brought Safari up to 5.1.7 the saved links I had in my dock are blank. Even though i can click in that area and the pages will load. I can't figure out how to fix this. Also, when I drag a link from the address bar to the desktop the icon that appears is nothing more than a blank white page.

I have mail shifted to iCloud. Still receive/send for convenience primarily via the postage stamp icon in the dock. Will this disappear with Mobile Me - after June 30? How about RSS feeds going direct to mail program? They appear in "mail" via the dock but not on iCloud side.?
