Is there any way to get the "mail" icon above the dotted line in the dock so it is available every time I start up ala iTunes/Finder/Safari/Preview?. As it is I have to launch it from the applications folder every time I restart the computer. This would be on my new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard.

View 5 Replies View RelatedYou know how there is a blue dot underneath an application's icon in the dock representing that the application is running? Is there a way to change this to another color? I don't see any option for it, so I think it's unlikely that it can be changed but if it can I'd appreciate being told how to change it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTo the point... I use TimeOut to remind me to get up and move, while I am on my computer. It is a handy app that will make the screen go blank for how ever long I set my breaks to last.
The thing is... I don't need the application icon to sit in my Dock taking up space telling me the application is open. I know it is open since it tells me to get up and stretch every 20 minutes by blanking my screen.
So, is there any way to take the application's icon off the Dock while still leaving it open?
I really need help with this; I've searched "iphoto won't open" and many other variations of that, but I haven't found anything the same as my situation. When I click the iPhoto icon on the dock, it bounces once... and then stops, without opening or doing anything else. It does the same if I open it through finder->applications. It's driving me crazy!! I have a MacBook with Tiger OS X 10.4.11, iPhoto 7.1.5 and NO tech experience.

Is there any easy way to make the Mail dock icon bounce when new mail is received? All I can find is a preference for playing a sound, but I hate system sounds with a passion, so a visual cue would be much preferred. Any one know how to do this?

I have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.

When I open apple mail it seems to load fine but now my trash icon for apple mail is gone. Is there any way to get this back?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy mail icon seems to have a mind of its own. I have my dock hidden and when I get new mail sometimes the mail icon will bounce nice and high onto the screen to alert me. Other times the mail icon just sits there hidden until I'm at the edge of the screen and the dock is shown, then it bounces.
I already made the rule for the icon to bounce when I get new mail, which it does sporadically. I just want to make it bounce into view EVERY time I get a new mail.
Is there anyway to change an applications dock icon while leaving the icon in finder different?

I have had my MacBook Pro for 1 day and I see this glitchy icon in my dock:
Was wondering can the Finder icon be moved around in the dock? I'd like to be able to move it, instead of having it on the left hand side of the dock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my white MacBook (OS X 10.5) with a new MacBook.
In the old dock:
I had created a folder within the HD called "launcher"--so it would appear at the top of the list. I created a custom icon for the folder, created an alias on the desktop. I then put the alias in the dock. When I would click on the folder it would open like stacks.
New dock:
If I do the above process, the folder opens as a finder window--no more stacks. If I pull the folder directly to the dock, without creating the alias, the folder opens as a stack, but the icon is gone and replaced with the generic folder icon.
Is there a way to have a custom icon and have the stack/folder open as stacks? I don't like the option of putting a image file as the first item in the folder because then the "icon" that appears is smaller and in front of the folder I hate.
I just bought a new MacBook with SL installed. I have tried to search these forums for the past 10 minutes to find an answer. How do I remove the safari icon on the dock. It wont lemme trash it or put elsewhere but dock. I use firefox. Don't want the safari icon!
