OS X :: Safari Stand Updated For Snow Leopard
Sep 13, 2009It doesn't work for me. I wonder if Glims is conflicting somehow. A reboot got it working, but it's a bit buggy. Sidebar won't turn off. Contextual searches aren't loading.

View 5 RepliesFirstly I am sorry if this has been posted before, but I did have a look at the Snow Leopard FAQ & a browse through the current topics. And secondly, I am also sorry if I am not using appropriate computer language to describe certain things. I have a 17 inch Macbook Pro I bought in the middle of last year. Before Snow Leopard. So when Snow Leopard came along I went for the upgrade without looking around at compatibility issues with certain software.
So after the upgrade, my EyeTV didn't work, and neither did my internet (I use the ones with the USB stick). So I couldn't even go online to get my EyeTV update. So in my (brief) panick I re-installed Leopard, which wasn't a great idea I guess, because all of a sudden my HD space went down to 50GB from my 500GB of storage. Now I know I didn't have the full 500GB since I did have some photos, music & videos on board. But surely 50GB remaining is quite ridiculous. I think it probably performed a Time Machine backup for me.
Anyway... that was awhile ago. And I was happy to carry on with what I had. But now I think I would like to try what Snow Leopard has to offer. But with only 18GB of space remaining, I think the best option might be to reformat and start over. What do you guys think? My other option is to try to delete as much as I can spare to make room for Snow Leopard. Sorry if this question is a silly one, but I have done a lot of things with my iPhone & with this Mac without thinking & asking first & I have always regretted it. Thanks for any help or suggestions you all can offer.

We have two email addresses (one for myself and one for my spouse). In one account the e-mails now seem to "appear" twice in that inbox since Snow Leopard. However, when we move the email to another folder, only one moves and the phantom one disappears. This is annoying. Any thoughts of what we might do?
I had problems with my wireless mouse after upgrading to SL. This solved all my problems. This update is good for their wireless keyboards also. The snow leopard release date caught logitech by surprise. This works for 64 and 32 bit . This is version 3.1 [URL]

I have an HP 4050TN LaserJet printer that I had networked via ethernet to my iMac (when it was running just leopard) Once I did all the updates for 10.6.8, I found that my printer is nowhere to be seen, I can't add it. Nothing. I found hp printer drivers for Lion, but I'm not going to get Lion, if i just have to turn around and get Mountain Lion in a couple of months anyway .Regarding my Scanner:When I try to use my Cannon CanoScan 8800F MP Navigater justs quits. . . .

I recently updated to snow leopard and now I get blue screen on start-up.
I manage to get to enter my password and then to my desktop for a few seconds before it flicks back to my login.
I tried using disk utility from the install disc and it said HD appears to be ok. But it hasn't solved the problem.

I have two new iMac 20", did the update 10.5.3 for both units unit A now won't load safari, when i downloaded safari 3.1.1 it won't install "this needs 10.5.2" but "about this mac" says 10.5.3 tried software update again, and nothing to update. Unit B--same update, but safari runs fine.
some suggested that we reinstall safari from the install discs that came with the computer
So I recently updated to Safari 4 and it crashes every time I load it. I send the report to Apple but it doesn't do anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWas autonotified that 2 updates were available: Safari 1.5.1 and iTunes. After the installation, all my Safari bookmarks, bookmark menu, bookmark bar are gone and reset to what looks like a default list. I am running the latest LION release/version...
I know I can back up from my Time Machine by going to ~/Library/Safari/bookmarks.plist and restore.. however I can not locate the file?
I know that ~/Libray is hidden so I went to Finder and pressed option GO and library displayed... I then opened TIme Machine and attempted to find the bookmarks.plist under Safari on an older backed up copy and the file was not there..
It seems that the Top Sites thumbnails almost never get updated. I have sites that are updated multiple times daily, and their thumbnail on the Top Sites page still show what they looked like days ago. Even when I click on one to read it and then return Top Sites, the thumbnail doesn't get updated.

I bought Snow Leapord when it was originally released but never installed it. But now I wanted to go ahead and finally get rid of Leapord, but was wondering if the copies of SL that Apple sells in the stores are updated already with the latest updates or are they just the same original CD from the initial launch?I would prefer to install SL which has all the latest updates and Boot Camp drivers already on the disk.I know it won't be exactly up to date, but fairly recent.

I have copied the error message - im not particulary computer savvy
Process: Safari [663]
Path: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
Identifier: com.apple.Safari
[Code]....
Stuck on screen with apple logo. No curser, nothing.
Last try got stuck on a blue screen that alternated tones of blue every few seconds. Was able to start up in safe mode ( held shift). Finder loaded after a loooong wait. Once there I used Disc Diet to empty caches- this usually help to get rid of the rolling beach ball. Wasn't able to do much at all- all with rolling beach ball. Restarted without shift key- stuck on apple.
Should I uninstall Safari?

Good morning, I recently updated my software via Software Update yesterday, and I noticed that I can no longer play Flash videos in Safari. I just get the generic lego block and it says that Flash unexpectedly quit. I'm running the most recent Safai and Snow Leopard, and have included a screenshot of the updates that I ran yesterday. I also tried to run Camino and FireFox, but they just quit when I get to a Flash video. I also tried to install the most recent Flash player, and also the newer beta Flash player, but none seem to work. Anybody know of any fixes? Do I have to reinstall Snow Leopard?
View 8 Replies View RelatedEver since updating to Safari 5 (33h and 19m ago on an Aluminium 20" iMac with 2.0GHz and Mac OS X 10.6.3), SHIFT+TAB closes application windows for me, instead of going in reverse (like with buttons and text fields in Safari).I've checked System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and couldn't find anything. it seems, to only close windows instead of quitting applications

My MacBook updated Safari tonight only to render the program inoperable. It hangs and freezes and shuts down. Takes forever to load.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just had a minor catastrophe when my Mac crashed whilst optimizing after a software update. Disk Warrior run from a network drive highlighted many overwritten files and ultimately I had to bin the HDD and fitted another. Fortunately, all my personal files seem to have been recovered and it was mostly applications and their components which suffered. I've gradually been re-installing things but have noticed that when I view mpg's in Safari, all I get is the progress bar and controls and all white, no image. I've updated QT to 7.3 and am running 10.4.11 as my ancient G3 PB won't run Leo.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just bought the macbook air (1.6/80) at bestbuy for 1299. It was the last sealed box, woot. Curious though, this doesn't occur on my other laptop so I know it's not bandwidth issues. I am watching office at full screen, half way into it the video starts to stutter bad. I don't mind the cpu fans going full speed, or the heat, because that's the nature, however I can't stand the stuttering. Has anyone had experience in Revision 1 and watching hulu and getting it not to stutter half way into the episode?By the way nothing else is opened and/or running. Just safari. I also installed Flash 10 and updated the MBA completely with 3.2 safari
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz Imac and I am running Snow Leoprad 10.6.8. The problem I am having is that since I recently updated Safari, I cannot run Youtube videos. Every time I try watching one, the page crashes. I know I am not alone here and I am surprised Apple has not approached this situation yet. I have tried running youtube videos on Firefox and have had no problems doing so, thus I figure it must be Safari. I've tried running safari in 32 bit mode and that is also not fine. I have emptied the cache and reset Safari as well but still no go.

I just installed Snow Leopard on my iMac and have experienced an ethernet problem with Safari, Firefox, Mail and Thunderbird; these applications work for about 1 hr. and then the applications will lose the ethernet connection even though System Preferences/Network shows that ethernet is connected. However, Skype works (no connection loss) while the aforementioned applications have lost their connections. This problem keeps recurring intermittently (approx every 1hr.
As a work-around to the problem, I go into System Preferences/Network/Configure IPv4: choose OFF in the drop-down, click on APPLY. Then in the same drop-down, select "Using DHCP", click on APPLY and wait for an IP Address to be reassigned. After this procedure, the applications that lost the ethernet connection will start functioning again. I am using a Linksys Router, DHCP with a 1 giga-bit connection, CAT5.
I downloaded the latest Safari version and when I try to install it on Snow Leopard, I get a message saying that I must have OSx 10.5.8 or later. I'm confused because I have 10.6 installed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else having this problem? i go to download a program or file and it just takes me to a blank page. I can download fine with any other browser, i.e. Firefox, Camino, Shiira.
