I have found apple mail to be great however when I go to open a forwarded email ".msg" I need to go back to my original email provider to open it. In apple mail it asks me to choose the appropriate application however I have had no luck.

So unless someone forwards me an email and includes an attachment directly in their emial to me I'm not able to open any attachments. In the email this is how the attachments appear:<CBA_COMPS_5.2.12_PDF.pdf><Screen Shot 2012-05-17 at 2.10.18 PM.png>They are just text and not clickable. How can I make it so that I can open them?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of the email lists that I subscribe to frequently contains messages with images. It's a moderately high volume list with 20-30 messages per day. Inevitably, a few of those messages with attached images (according to the paperclip icon in the messages list) will arrive with no headers and no raw data. The display of the message in Apple Mail shows only the sender's name/address and the subject, nothing else such as the usual warning, "This message contains no content."
The people who run the mailing list don't think that the problem is on their end so is there a way to correct it.

When he forwards HTML formatted messages, all anyone recieves are a bunch of text attachments, some graphic attachments and the email header. Works fine on text based emails. I have looked through the available options in Mail and have everything that looks configured to allow this.

Every time I open it the same email just continues duplicating itself in the "Recovered messages" folder so I end up with hundreds of them. This email was the last email that was successfully sent and I was overseas at the time. When I returned home, my email would not update and it has not worked since.
I have tried rebuilding and taking mailboxes offline and online. Should I delete the 'mail' folder from my library?

I have sent a message with Apple Mail 7.3 on Mac with OS X Mavericks 10.9.3, and it shows DUPLICATED in the Sent mailbox of Mail. I mean, two entries with the very same message inside are displayed, yet, as said, I only sent it once! I am using POP.
Selecting "Mailbox - Rebuild", quitting and opening Mail, repairing permissions with Apple Disk Utility, restarting the Mac, and even resetting the PRAM does not fix it. I have seen the following article, but cannot find the "MessageSorting.plist" in Mavericks that it indicates: How to Fix Duplicate Emails Sent From Apple Email..URL....
how to prevent this duplication behavior (beyond deleting one of such messages, which, of course, I can do); I mean, to fixing whatever is corrupted and prevent such behavior happening again in the future? What is the equivalent of "MessageSorting.plist" in Mavericks to do what indicates the above article?

Everytime I open up iPhoto, I get this message that says: "A photo has been found in the iPhoto library that was not imported. Would you like to import it? No button and Yes button appear at the bottom of the message box. Sometimes it does it twice. If I say yes, then when iPhoto finishes opening up, there is an album (or two) at the bottom of my album list called "Recovered Photos" but they are empty. I have to manually go through this and then delete them everytime I open up iPhoto. I know in the grand scheme of things this doesn't harm my use of iPhoto or my existing photos, it just accumulates into being a bug and a diversion that I have to get used to dealing with. I thought I left adjusting to those buggy pains in the a$$ behind when I left Windows.

Happened after iMac crashed and was restored from Time Machine. I shut down the iMac for 4 days and when started up said I need to erase HD and restore from Time Machine. That seemed to work fine but just tried to open iTunes 12.0.1.26 and keep getting the above message.

I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.
One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail. The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.

I do not want to insult family, but do not want to receive her mass/forwarded "emails".
When I use Entourage 08 and forward a message, the receiver always gets this text as centered. I use First Class Client as my server and cannot find any options to change this in it's preferences. Also are there settings to normalize all of the text from multiple forwarded messages to the same font size and style? When I got to print out an e-mail it ends up being 20 pages long and some font is 20pt and some is 11pt. It depends on what the original sender is using for their font and style.

When I try to edit/manipulate text in emails that have been forwarded to me, it is difficult to do because every paragraph is set in an individual box. I can see how this might be useful for deleting whole paragraphs or moving them. But is there a way to turn off the function?

I experience a funny behavior of Mail. At times, when I forward emails to Outlook users, they can not see the forwarded part of the mail. This happens both with my iCloud mail address and with a corporate mail account.
On the other hand, if I send the same email from iCloud.com web page, it works fine.
This is very bad: I use mail for work and over 90% of my contacts use Outlook...

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
I forwarded an email and now it is coming in via my time machine in 100's I never asked time maching to recover it and don't know how to stop it

Recently a week ago updated my system from 10.8.3 to the Latest Maverick 10.9.4. I have a Mac-mini bought in 2013, When Maverick was loaded Apple Store showed up and I was able to download updates. Now, the store only shows the Icon A with the circle, pencil and brush and gray. Nothing else shows up. What to do?
