View 3 RepliesLet's say I have my computer connected via Ethernet and WiFi at the same time. Is there any way to see which connection is the one that's actually being used, short of installing iftop?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using 2 network interfaces. One wifi, which is fast, and one ethernet, which is my internal connection. I want to download and browse with the wifi one, and stream and sometimes browse through the ethernet one. How can I tell apps to use either wifi or ethernet?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI work NOC Support / Operations for a decent sized provider in the midwest-ish area. I configure radios, routers, switches, etc CONSTANTLY. I need an ethernet interface. So I have the ThunderBolt Gig Ethernet adapters. Â
I plug one in every day, running DHCP, no issues. Then I roll it over to a private IP to setup a radio. At this point, the interface is dropping (because I am rebooting the radio over and over), and I have to change the IP on it consistently. After making four to six changes, the interface just stops responding. In the network prefs, its red, as if it doesn't have a good working connection. I open the network anaylizer, and it shows me that the interface is up, with no IP. Â
I've disabled the interface by turning it off, nothing. I have unplugged the adapter and the cable, network anaylizer still shows the port up and negotiated at 100/1000, but theres nothing there...
My fonts have been randomly changing and now all my windows have the brushed metal theme even though I am running the latest Snow Leopard release.
View 6 Replies View Related3 iMacs on network (running Leopard) are not recognizing the printer that is connected to iMac running OS X 10.3.9. Attempted to make some changes in Terminal on the Leopard' macs in regards to the CUPS protocol that the 10.3 version of OS X uses to recognize networked printers but it didnt seem to work.
Note: I did attempt to add --- cupsctl BrowseProtocols='"cups dnssd" --- to the Terminal in accordance with an article on Apples support area but the Terminal responded with "unmatched".
I'm running a MBP with an SSD in what used to be the optical drive bay. I have a SL DMG installed to a flash drive but it's giving me some trouble on another Mac I've tried to install it on. Spinning twirly ball at reboot trouble.
I could re-install the optical drive, but I was hoping maybe I can install over gigabit ethernet? I think I've read about this but I'm missing the correct search term I think.
My home network setup is pretty weird and I am having problems connecting between my G4 with Leopard and my MBP with SL. Basically I have a static ip with a zyntex or something ADSL modem, then I have a switch and after the switch i got a 10Mbps Brack Firewall router and today I bought an Airport Express to get internet at places. I dont want to lay down cables. So anyway I noticed once I hooked up I can see my G4 but I cant connect to it. If I use a cable tho it work. Btw the airport is connected to the switch so is the G4, all the PCs are connected thru the brack router.

View 1 Replies View Relatedthis is more of a very open ended question to see if anyone knows an answer, but I just uploaded snow leopard onto my mbp (early09) and all is great until I try and connect to my wifi, which it does but at the same time brings down the whole system so no computer can connect to the Internet the only way to fix it is to reset the wireless modem and turn off airport on the mbp. does anyone know why this might happen like hardware compitablity or is it a glitch other people are having ?
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to print to a network printer, connected to a Vista PC. My Brother (windows fanboy) is able to print just fine through his wireless PC (Win7) but I can't get my head around why I cannot. I saved a webpage that helped me out before (used on Leopard) which use to work but it no longer work

I recently did a clean install of leopard and then migrated my account back on to my MBP non-santa rosa 2.33. Now, when I attempt to internet share from my ethernet to computers using airport, they are able to see the network, connect to it, and put in the password, but internet fails to connect. I'm on a college network, but this shouldn't really matter since I currently have a network of this type working perfectly on an iMac running Tiger. The signal reads at full strength and behaves just like it should, just it doesn't allow an internet connection. No firewall is on.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using a 2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon MAC running Leopard OS (10.5.6). We are 3 designers using 1 network drive (Lacie Ethernet 1TB) to store our projects. I used to be able to backup this network drive using duplicate option of Retrospect Express to another Lacie that was attached to the USB port on my MAC. Since we upgraded to Leopard I have not been able to do this. I think this is because the network drive no longer mounts on my desktop. I think it used to think the network drive was on my computer because it was on my desktop, but it no longer does. Anyway, I need to back this drive up on a regular basis. (I am currently drag/copying it, did I say 1TB) Is there any way that I can get this drive to mount so that it is on my desktop? Does anyone know of any programs that might duplicate this NAS for me over the network to the one on my MAC or I could add another Lacie to the network. All of the software I have found is just to backup a MAC computer not a drive. If I can drag and drop it, it seems like this should be easy, but when I tried a command line copy it didn't work (I think because we named it "mac lacie disk" with spaces between the words and it stops at "mac" and can't find the rest.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLikely not useful for most of you - but for anyone who happens to use Juniper Network's Network Connect app for ssl VPN access, here's how to fix post SL install. Apparently, SL messes with perms and removes the 'Frameworks' dir.
[URL]
Code:
sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/juniper/nc/[version number]/
sudo mkdir '/Applications/Network Connect.app/Contents/Frameworks'
Tested, works like a charm.
I have a Mac Pro which I just upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I have an HP Multi-Function 2840 hooked up to the router via ethernet. This printer previously worked through Leopard.
Now, my understanding is that for SL, the drivers for this printer are in the operating system and can not be downloaded from HP.
How do I set this up as a network printer? I would like to be able to print from my other computers in the house as well.
Please Note: Snow Leopard only provides drivers for the printing function of this machine. I am going to have to revert to other means to use this device to scan.
My issue with time machine is it says another network is using my id. Now amber light is continuous even after restart, and says I have no dns.

When I access another Mac via Airport (using Safari and typing in an address such as afp://192.168.1.3), I can access the other Mac by typing in the password, its disk will appear on my Desktop, but a small red dash appears in User folders such as Desktop, and if I try to open the folder it says I don't have permission.

When signing in to macbook, which is network connected, tries to connect to a non-existent NAS server (used to exist but replaced). Gives message that 'NAS server cannot be found', usually at least twice. Message(s) can be canceled without a problem. Then when opening Chrome, same message appears again. System is obviously retaining this old location somewhere within a setting, but do not know how or what to look for.

Actually, I plugged it with my vga MS cable but my samsung SyncMaster 2443bw did not show me right the 1920 by 1080 (1080p). The image hidded the side because the image are oversized by a full screen zooming. So, Can I plug with my x360 on my Mac Pro to have a 1080p. I tried the elgato hybrid but there is only a rca plug & s-video so no Full HD.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm at home, I usually use an E-MU 0404 USB audio interface to channel sounds from my MBP. The problem is that every time I turn on the interface, the sound is distorted and corrupt. It is not a problem with the hardware; my monitors and interface work properly. The only workaround is to restart the computer with the interface connected and on, which clears up the sound. However, this is very inconvenient to do every time and I think that it's most likely due to a sound driver issue.
