OS X :: Shortcut In Safari Doesn't Work?
Dec 12, 2009I recently got a MacBook Pro 2Ghz and therefore would like to try Safari out. I used Firefox on Windows and I loved the shortcut to the Google Search (CMD+K).
But it isn't there in Safari. So I googled it and found out I can make my own shortcut for it. This is what people have said I should do:

1. Open System Preferences.
2. Click on Keyboard & Mouse.
3. Click on Keyboard Shortcuts.
4. Click the �+� to add a new shortcut.
5. Choose �Safari� from the Application menu.
6. Type �Google Search�... (without the quotes) into the Menu Title field. Those three dots are an ellipses, formed by typing Option-semicolon (not three periods).
7. Press Command-K in the Keyboard Shortcut field.
8. Click �Add�.
9. Close and reopen Safari.
I couldn't make the ellipses through Option-semicolon, but alt-X. I think it's because it's a Danish keyboard, but I don't know.
But here's the problem: It doesn't work.
I've done it step by step and I've tried to restard the computer and done it again, it just doesn't work.
OS X :: Zoom Keyboard Shortcut Doesn't Work?
Sep 3, 2009I tried setting a shortcut for "All Applications" -> "Zoom" so that I can have a keyboard shorcut for the green button/maximize button at the top (you can probably tell I just switched over from Windows). I set it to control+Z (^Z) and in FireFox when I look at the Window menu at the top I see "Zoom ^Z" like it should work, but it doesn't. When I click control+Z the Window menu at top sort of flashes/highlights real quick but the zoom function is not called. When I manually go to Window-->Zoom, it works.

Jul 18, 2010My MBA gives out squeaking sound around bass beats. Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does happen, it irritates me. When I listen to the same song on the iphone, I get a very clear sound. Can anyone do this for me? Can you listen to "Speak to me/Breathe" by Pink Floyd on your headphones / earphones if you have that track? Along with the first few heartbeats, I hear squeaking noises. Do you hear anything like that?
This squeaking noise could also happen sometimes when I am minimizing / maximizing windows, or doing something processor intensive.
Software :: Shift Key Not Working Fine / Minimizing Windows When Pressed
Sep 26, 2009I don't know what I've done, but whenever I hit the shift key on my keyboard, all my open windows minimize. Hence I have to use caps lock to type any letters in caps, and can't use the shift key for things like exclamation marks and question marks.

Sep 21, 2009after some trouble with Windows 7, I decided to reinstall the hole thing.
- I installed Windows 7 RC 64bit on a empty WD harddrive with the selected AHCI drivers.
- After installing, I updated Windows 7. No trouble after restarting.
- After installing the Bootcamp 3.0 (selected Bootcamp64.exe) my system isn't working fine anymore. I got Bluescreen after 1-2 Minutes Windows running on my monitor with the installed 285 GTX, the installed GT120 in slot two seems to run fine and no blue screen on the other screen.

I was getting ready to plug it into my monitor, which I used on my old Windows Machine, and I realized that the Mac Mini would not plug into my monitor. I did try using the adapter that came with my Mac Mini, but it didn't work. My Monitor has a VGA port, yet the adapter wouldn't. I do not want to buy an Apple monitor because they are too expensive for me.

Aug 28, 2010I'm on the latest MBP and when I'm in bootcamp on Ventrillo, I sound like darth vader when I talk. I think the problem lays in the internal microphone (and the driver that doesn't seem to work)? So if I get an external one and plug it in, I'd rather not want to go buy an external mic and just have it not work still.

Jun 14, 2009I'm running vista 64bit. On Mac OS, the headphone jack works fine. However, on Vista, there is a red light shining out of it and when i plug either speakers or my earphones into it, no sound comes out (the Macbook Pro's speakers work fine though). Any ideas? I reinstalled the bootcamp drivers with the install DVD.

I tried to set "pickfirst" to 1 (checking the box of "noun/ verb"), but it doesn't help. Setting them both to <0> and <1> don't make a difference, both options don't "delete" the selected object.

When I connect it via Firewire 800 to my MBP in Windows 7 (Bootcamp) it is recognised but when I start copying (read or write) it just hangs after a while or becomes very slow. If I connect it via USB it works. Do I need some drivers ? If yes, where can I found them? I found this on WD but I have the previous generation i.e. without the digital screen. If I go to the software download, it says that the drivers won't work with the previous gen.

Jun 23, 2012I experience this problem for 2 days now. The wi fi says it is connected and all the bars are full but id doesn't load a single page!
The internet i've got is vergin so normally is very fast.Downstairs where we have a desktop computer connected to the D-link is working as normal.
When I open the network diagnostics in mac it shows : wi fi is green , wi-fi settings is green, network settings is failed(red), ISP failed(red), Internet failed (red), server failed red.

May 10, 2009In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

Jan 29, 2008running leopard. when using any document such as pages, numbers etc and I make a change to a already saved document, the file menu has the Save As and Save options but whenever I choose the shown shortcut, Save , apple key + S option I just get a soft beep noise and nothing happens, I still have to go in by the file menu with the mouse and click on it in the file menu before it saves my changes.

Dec 4, 2014Spotlight shortcut does not work. When I press ctrl + space, nothing happen. When I click on magnifier icon by mouse, everything work well.
In Spotlight configuration and also in keyboard shortcut configuration this shortcut is present and marked as active.
I've also tried to disable and enable back this shortcut but it still not work.

Aug 22, 2014command-option-apostrophe does not work in Apple Mail for me (Mail 7.3, OS 10.9.3). This is the keyboard shortcut used to decrease the quote level of a quoted line in a Mail message. In other words this is the keyboard shortcut for the menu item:
Format --> Quote Level --> Decrease
It hasn't worked for me since at least 10.8. Are others having this problem or do I need to dig more deeply through system extensions, looking for some kin of conflict?
OS X Mavericks :: Finder Keyboard Shortcut For Close Window Does Not Work
Jun 5, 2014OS 10.9.3. This morning the Finder keyboard shortcut Command-W stopped closing windows and instead opened a folder burried fairly deeply in my Home folder. I moved that folder and managed to get Command-W to stop opening it, but it will still NOT close a window in Finder. Nor will it close windows in applications. What does happne is that the frame of the window flashes (but it remains open).
