OS X Mountain Lion :: Reinstallation Stuck At 34 Minutes
Dec 9, 2014
MacBook pro 2012. I had to reinstall ML due to extreme slowly ness. The bar has progressed and is stuck at 34 min ( the download completed though). It has been stuck for more than 3 hours now.
Info:
MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
I had an external hard drive that was formatted to NTFS that was used on my PC but I want to switch it over to mac now. I erased the partition on Windows, then plugged it into my mac but it's stuck at 'preparing to partition the disk'. What should I do, it's been stuck for ages!!

I have a white macbook which has a dead battery it only works plugged in. One night i left it downloading the updates and after that the machine kepts like 10 minutes on the apple logo and the she boot to the os. I reinstalled the os but still the same. I tried to replace the ram but now flases five times and does not start. I am assuming the new ram is bad. My question is replacing the ram and the hd will solve my issue. What are the specs of the ram and how much ram could be installed? It has to be on pairs? What is the meaning ofnthe flashing light?

Reading on the microsoft support pages it says you need to boot from the startup disk to do the system re-install, but I can't seem to do this. I tried to just leave the disk in, then restart in windows, but it just spit the disk out. Then I tried leaving the disk in and holding down the option key and clicking on the startup disk, then all I got was the blank windows screen with the line in the corner. how to do the reinstall?
I just had to re install mac os x 10 but after I did I was not able to log in as it seems that my user details have been erased. So I started up from the cd rom again and navigated to the password utility there I tried to change my password but the only user option was system administrator (root) nothing else!.
I hv macbook pro 13 inch early 2011 with having maverick osx but it been booting slow since month or two, i already hv backup of entire hdd, I want to format hdd and reinstall same osx but i dnt have osx disc to install (i didnt get with mac).
I just did a restoree and reformat of macbook. I have installed all the programs that were on before but do not have teh Mac Office disk and product key to reinstall it. I saved the officepid.plist file from system before refromat. I thought I could just install the trial version and then replace this file in the system. It is not working though.
So I currently have a late 2008 MacBook Pro. I may be getting a new iMac for Christmas. My question is, is there a way to basically transfer all of my files/programs/etc. to the new Mac without having to reinstall everything? The iMac will become my primary computer, and the MBP will become kind of a sitting on the couch/travel computer. This is the first time I will be upgrading Macs, as the MBP was my first non-PC computer.
It looks like I have to reinstall my OS. Does anyone know if you 'must' erase your drive when reinstalling OSX? I don't even know if my drive is there still but want to know in case I can save all of my data that has not been backed up.
I have an old iBook that I just want to completely wipe clean and install windows XP on (I know...blaspheme). Before people start questioning why I would do such a thing...it's only because I need the laptop for DJing in which I have an external sound card that only works with Windows. The main problem is that the CD drive doesn't work so I am uncertain how to go about erasing my hard drive and installing XP via USB.
After the disaster getting Quicken for Mac 2007 (or earlier) to sort-of work on Lion, has anyone checked if the Lion Compatible Quicken for Mac works on the new Mountain Lion operating system? Even though this isn't an Apple problem, I know I'm not the only person who would love to update to a new Mac; however, they all come with Mountain Lion, and many of us are terrified of losing financial data if there's another
it varies but generally every 5-15 min I need to shut off my wi-fi and turn it back on to connect to the network. I have a netgear router and just updated the firmware today hoping that would help but it did nothing, helped the windows laptop but not the iMac. It is set up in WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES], does mac not work well with that, will WEP work better? If I change to WEP will it mess up a laptop running Windows 7 Pro?
my mac pro early 2008 will crash a few times just after start up and then it will stabilise and work fine. i have done a repair disc on a few occassions still with same result.
just recieved my refurbished macbook air (2011) 2 weeks ago.Does it qualify for free upgrade to mountain lion ? The website only talked about "qualifying new mac system set..."
On System-Start of a brand new Mac Pro, neither Bluetooth-Mouse nor USB-Keyboard (both Apple) are working correctly. While Keyboard is completely out of order, Mouse moves but click is impossible. But after 10 minutes or so they both do start to work!
On safe mode I can boot but the computer shut down automatically after 3 minute. On the normal boot - I see the wheel running, running and running and the computer shut down without booting. On the console mode I can check (fsck -fy) the disk (no error) but after I cannot boot!

For some time now mail.app takes over 3 minutes to quit. Whenever I try to shut down my iMac the shutdown is aborted because mail.app has not closed so I have to wait until mail.app closes and then shut down.
Only God know how much regret I have for installing Lion.Â
Lot of problems are there but major problems is startup time it takes 3 minutes to start. Leopart used to start in seconds. Battery life has been decreased.Â
How to decrease statup time? Is there probme with my Macbook Pro?
The machine stopped at logo screen for more than 5 minutes and i check the control panel and find a message ImportServer: <MDSImporterWrangler: 0x7ff7df30dbd0> still waiting for plug-in info from mdworker Waiting here for almost 10 minutes i'v got a MBP 2011 later with lion 10.7.4
I am wanting to download the new software for my iMac when it comes out in the summer but I do not have the OSX Lion. So do I need to download OSX Lion before downloading Mountain Lion?
Whenever I try to install the latest preview of Mountain Lion, it says"Some features of OS X Mountain Lion are not supported for the disk "R2iMac". The warning directs me here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4649 It seems like it'll let me continue, but once it restarted it eventually said the installation failed. The point is I do have a Recovery HD and I don't know what to do about this. Check out my partitions:And here's the error dialouge: Please advise.

I am currently running version 10.7.4 from what I read and what I was able to make out from my serial number I wont be able to upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion as it says my imac is a late 2006 model.I am just curious if I am able to run Lion why Apple isnt supporting the older models that can? Seems odd to me and it is not in my budget to buy a new mac and my current one is running perfectly. I'm not sure how much I will miss out not having Mountain Lion.
I am thinking of upgrading from lion to mountain lion, simply to use the dictation feature, but I need it for "typing" papers in office for mac....word. Does it work for that, or is it geared more for sending messages?
