I upgraded to OSi 10.9.3 as my comptuter told me to do-I am very obedient that way. Now the bars on the side of mail and safari that allow one to move the screen up and down-are not there-except for sometimes.. I have looked everwhere in Preferences but I cannot seem to find a setting that relates to this.
View 3 Repliesi have just upgraded to Leopard ( not snow leopard) from Tiger, and everything seems fine, except my mailboxes in mail have disappeared, although they are still on my web based mobile me account.On the left hand side I have Mailboxes ( greyed out and not working), On my Mac ( greyed out and not working) and RSS feed ( greyed out and not working).
When I try to open a new mailbox from the menu system, I can but the options are for it to be placed on my mobileme account or on my Mac in a "Delivered" folder, which I can't find on my mac anywayIf anybody can give me any advice I would be very grateful.
In my old laptop (Mac OS 10.6.8) I could see the preview panel on top of the Mail. Now I can not find a way to move it from the left hand side. Now on Mac OS 10.9 I have Mail 7.3 and there does not seem to have an option on where to put it.

On My MacBook Pro, using my Apple Mail, iCloud account, in the mail app, I was working on a very long detailed email and saving it as a draft in between, I finally finish the email and check it for errors and then send. The little blue line in "mail activity" shows the message being sent. Then I go to my sent folder and the message is nowhere to be found? I follow in the instructions for rebuilding etc and same thing, nowhere to be found?
How I can possible get this email back? this happens so much on Apple Mail which is so so frustrating especially when you make the attempt to constantly save the email and it still disappears. So now I don't know if the email sent, and it's not a situation where I can merely contact the sender to see if they got it. Another issue with the iOS on iPhone is that the new one makes the swish sound to appear as if the any emails sent miraculously send in a split second, when they don't sometimes they don't send at all. But this swish sound gives the impression that the email was indeed sent, I find this misleading. Because on the previous iOS it only made that sound when the email actually sent.

I recently decided to download a vast amount of email from by email service provider (Verizon) to Mail. But now, when I get into email, 99% of the emails have disappeared. I don't have time machine backup or archival turned on.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWorking offline during a flight, I created a new "Mailbox" -- i.e. a subfolder -- within an account in Mail and moved some messages into it. Back on the ground and reconnected with the Internet, that subfolder has disappeared, along with all the messages in it. Where did it go? Is it possible to recover it?
If it makes any difference, it was a Gmail account accessed via IMAP.

I have to say the "upgrade" to Lion has been the most frustrating ever.
For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.

I've tried: closing the message unsuccessfullyForce Quitting the application (reads "Mail (not Responding)") when I do. (4 times)Turning off the entire computer, letting it rest and rebooting. (3 times)Opening up my server on the internet and deleting the offensive message "mailer daemon"Turning off the computer again.
So...as soon as I open mail, the grey "message" is open. I can click on the Mail Viewer window and have that come forward, but all is frozen.Just did it again and it hasn't changed. Had to force quit again. Never before in 8 years of using the Mail application (different computers). The rainbow wheel of death spins and spins.

My mail program seems to be slow. I'm not sure why. I get the spinning ball frequently. I need to save mail messages sometimes for a few years and there are hundreds of emails. Is it better to save them on my computer than my mail program? I may need to retrieve them at some other time so they need to be readable. Is that possible?
I'm using OS X 10.9.4. I have a 3.06 GHz processor and 12 GB of memory.

Has Mavericks’ Mail program lost the ability to handle group email addresses? Since I switched to Mavericks, Mail does not handle Group Address emails correctly. Even though Mail Preferences are set so that individual email addresses in each group are not supposed to show, Mail does show the individual addresses rather than the Group address(s).
The only solution is to send out Group emails with my own address in the “To” line and all of the “Group” addresses placed in the “Bcc:” window of the email. Apparently the option to not have the addresses show when using group addresses in the "To:" line does not function in Mavericks.

I have downloaded two programs "Skype" and printer driver software and no matter how many times I click and drag to the applications folder (as my instructions tell me to do) the programs remain on the top right hand of my desktop. I have tried using "Help" and even surfed some of the Apple tutorials...by all counts I have found I am doing it correctly but its not working.

I've recently purchased some webspace to which I upload files via FTP and then link to the files I upload on my various blogs. With a view to simplifying the procedure, can anybody suggest to me a program into which I can drag & drop any file, have it upload in the background, and then allow it to provide me with a user-clickable url rather than an FTP link to the file? I've been using Transmit, which I really enjoy, but I can't seem to find an option to grab a url that's viewable to everybody. Despite me uploading the files to my public_html directory it just copies an ftp:// link, which is of no use to anybody, and I then have to go into my webspace client's file manager system online and grab the user-viewable url. I seem to remember a program like this existing, one that would sit up in your taskbar and be active and waiting for files to be dropped into it for upload at any time but i had no use of it back then.

I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
I can't drag files out of stacks (Downloads or Application folders) or app icons off my dock. I reset my SMC when I rebooted and it worked but then I reboot the next day (today) and it won't work anymore. Do I really have to reset SMC every time I boot up? I recently downgraded from Yosemite because it is incomplete and full of bugs and now I have this issue.

This is the first time I've encountered this. Upon cold booting the machine it went directly to the legacy Mac OS X Server login screen from before the upgrade to Mavericks. It would not let me login with current credentials. I had no choice but to hard power off. It returned to normal operation on restart.
It could be a possible bug.

I have a Macbook Pro. It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. I have decided to start using gmail and keeping my email online instead of stored locally in the Mail program.
I have all my old mail and sent mail downloaded locally in the Mail program.
Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.
I just installed some routine updates for my Mac and now I can't receive any mail in my apple mail program. It is version 4.5 and I am using a mobile me account. I have never had any problems before and obviously very annoyed. I know I can access it view the web but I like apple mail. I am able to send.
