I want to reinstall my OS to clean my harddrive however, I fear losing the Microsoft Office that came with my MacBook when I bought it from school. Is there any way to wipe my harddrive, while saving Microsoft Office?

I have Sibelius 7 installed on my MacBook Pro. It is licensed to a friend of mine, he gave me the second license that comes with the software. I am looking to reset my Mac to Factory Settings, as if it's new, but I would like to reinstall Sibelius once it has been reset. The problem is, I don't have the original discs, my friend has them. Am I able to reinstall Sibelius from a back up without the original discs, or should I wait until I can use the discs again? Â
I'm running a MacBook Pro with OS X Version 10.9.3 with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with 8GB of memory.

Whenever starting up, a grey screen would appear and after the screen would shut off immediately. I decided to reinstall Mavericks (which worked). However, my iTunes is completely wiped clean. I have all my music files still on my computer but not in the iTunes. Is there a way to get them all back without having to drag and drop each file one by one? And is it possible to get all my old playlists back with the dates added/play counts etc.?

I ended up getting the grey screen that wouldn't do anything, so I turned off the Mac, then turned it back on again and entered the Lion Recovery module. I selected reinstall Mac OS X, then I was taken to a screen with 2 choices - Macintosh HD or Recovery HD. I believe the Recovery HD was locked, so i (mistakenly?) selected the Macintosh HD partition. Will this create a problem, or was it the proper partition for reinstalling the OS? Everything seems to be working fine, with no more kext errors, but I'd like to avoid a potential conflict if the OS isn't installed in the proper partition.Â

Got an '07 iMac, and just reinstalled Win7 on it, while playing around with the partition sizes. Before, everything worked fine. Now, I have no sound (though, if I strain my imagination, I think I can hear something). According to Windows, everything's working fine; says the driver is functioning just as it should. I've reset the computer, no dice. I've checked things in OS X, and its just fine.

Those of you with the ATi 4850 card, is there any who have completed a reinstall and then still suffered with the freezing problem afterwards.
If so I am going to get back on to Applecare and demand a replacement.

I just installed MS Office 2011 on my MacBook Pro (with Mavericks). But when I open a Word or Excel window, it does not have the two arrows icon on the top right corner that every application has (the icon to open the windows on a new desktop like a kind of "full screen" mode. I dont know the name of the icon). I have already installed the updates, but the icon does not appear.Â

Is there a way for a Microsoft Office application to auto-quit when you close the last window of it opened? For example, when I close the last window opened of Microsoft Word, the icon sits in the dock with the indicator light still on underneath, waiting for me to manually quit it. I know many other apps auto-quit once they are closed, just wondering if this is an option for Microsoft Office for Mac?

I am currently running os 10.5.8 on a new IMac purchased in july of this year. I am running ms office for mac '08 as my standard package. I was running ms office v.x (full version) on my predecessor power pc imac, os 10.4.11. I chose not to update v.x stopping at version 3. I still have v.x on my new machine and it opens and works just fine. I find it useful in a few situations. I have the 10.6 dvd waiting to install but I wanted to check to see if i needed to do anything in particular to keep ms office v.x in operation?

I'd like to be able to work on the imac in the office from home, on my macbook, although i'd need the remote screen in the office to stay blank and not show what i'm doing when logged in as i work in a public office with a few people.
Are there any apps that enable me to do this or is there a feature inbuilt into OSX?

My new mac has pages, numbers & keynote. Do I still need to buy Office, in order to transfer my word & excel files? I would be fine trying out the apple versions, but I don't think iMac will transfer the files unless I install Office. Is there maybe a slick way to change the file extensions prior to transfer? I am trying to transfer, by the way, from my files backed up on Carbonite.
