Why can't I login to iMessages from my Mac? It just started all of a sudden, all my iMessage conv's are offline. I tried but get an error message that states "Your Apple ID "xxxxxxxx" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time" and then a customer code to contact apple.
I have the correct password obviously because I'm logged in here. Haven't changed a thing recently but it stopped working. I have tried rebooting, using multiple WiFi networks, and various other things.
A few weeks ago iMessage on my Mac started doing an annoying thing where all my outgoing iMessages are blank, but the incoming messages are fine. So I can't see my side of any conversation. But I can see both sides properly on iOS (iPhone and iPad). So if someone starts messaging me when I am on my laptop, I have to have my phone turned on too so I can follow the conversation properly, as all of my replies are disappearing the instant I hit return to send them.
I don't often use iMessage on my Mac because of the syncing problems, but occasionally when I do use it, I receive a delayed iMessage, like really delayed. I just got one today that was sent 11 days ago! And it happened to be a rather time-sensitive message that I would've loved to respond to within, say, a day of when I got it. Why does this happen and can I fix it?
My girlfriend just moved into a new apartment where her roommate has the wireless network set up through a time capsule as the router. She was issued a IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad from work, and she wants to be able to use it at home to do work at night.
The Thinkpad can see the network, but it won't allow her to connect to it. It doesn't even prompt for a password. From the information that is displayed about the network, it looks as if it is only sending out an 802.11n signal. The only thing I can think of that would prohibit her from accessing the network is that the Thinkpad can't use the 802.11n standard?
How can I find out what wireless standards the Thinkpad can use? Also, I tried to use my MBP to configure the Time Capsule with Airport Utility, but I didn't know the password and her roommate said he doesn't remember it (I know the password for the network, just not the TC itself). If I end up resetting the TC from the button on the back, will he lose any data saved on the TC?
I have a Mac G4 17" laptop with a bad logic board. I just bought a G5 tower with no airport card. I would like to know if the card from the laptop would work with the tower and if so how do I install it?
I purchased a 13" MacBook Pro in late December of 2011. After working with it for 6 months I've realized I should have bought the 15" model instead. Does Apple accept "trade-ins" if a customer chooses to upgrade?

Sometimes my laptop will load a program automatically when I start it up. Most often it's Firefox, but it has also done this with OpenOffice. I've checked my Start Up items and neither of these are on there. Everything on my laptop is up to date and I've run Disk Utility. What could be causing this?
My wife and me have separate Apple ID's and one lap top at home. We have synced our data on the lap top and now face a situation where in her contacts are on my contact list on the phone and vice versa.
I have a new MacBook Pro and have discovered Messages. I love how I can continue my conversations from my iPhone, however none of the contact details are there - they are only numbers and email addresses. How do I link Message to Contacts so it has the contact info for each person?

visited an Apple store for this answer with cash in hand and left even more confused. The manager of the store said that CS5 changed the original Adobe protocol of allowing you to install the software on your home and portable computer. Another employee thought you still could install on the two machines as long as you weren't using the software on the two machines at the same time.
To make it more confusing, on Adobe's FAQ section:"Can I distribute a Creative Suite 5 edition across multiple users or computers? No. The product license agreement forCreative Suite 5 does not allow you to install the components of a single suite edition across multiple computers. Refer to the End-User License Agreement for more details."[URL]Then, when you click on the End-User License Agreement, it has this at the bottom: "HOME USE OF MACROMEDIA BRANDED PRODUCTSNotwithstanding the terms of the product license agreement included within a Macromedia branded product, when such a product is licensed through Adobes Open Options licensing program (not including Student Licensing,SiteLicensing, and Term Licensing), the primary user of the computer on which such software is lawfully installed may install a second copy of such software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable computer or a computer located at his or her home, provided that the software on the portable or home computer is not used at the same time as the software on the primary computer."[URL]Any current CS5 users know what the deal is? Do I need to pay even more money for the above-mentioned "open options program" just to be the sole user of the software on my home and laptop computers?
I received a 27 LED apple/mac monitor --not the 2011/12 version though.I want to use with my work computer--a dell laptop. I can't seem to find the right adaptor to connect the two.I need a dvi port converter that also connects to my vga on my laptop (so need the male end of hte vga since my laptop has the female end).I only found 1 adaptor but it ends with a dvi on a vga. I don't have hdmi on my laptop either--tried that adaptor as well when I couldn't see on the pic when I ordered that it was hdmi not usb). Please help. I have read so many blogs that say it can be done.
I bought a new Macbook Pro. I wanted Pages so I downloaded a free tiral onto my laptop. The trial was soon over and so using App Store, I bought Pages. It said Pages was installed so I restarted my laptop and opened Pages. When I went to save a document, Pages said that I needed to buy Pages and that my trial was over, then it gave me an oppurtunity to put in an activation code. The App Store never gave me an activation code and still says that the new Pages has been installed.
I run a UMBP @ home and also have a work laptop connected to my LAN. I want to remote into my work laptop from my UMBP, but I am having trouble doing so. My work laptop has joint to the company domain and has Group Policy applied. However I made sure all the remote desktop firewall rules are open and I still can't remote into it. Work laptop is running Win7. My dad's pc is also a Win7 and I can remote into just fine.
I tried to archive and install, but that didn't work. I checked and it said that there is something wrong with the hard drive (don't remember exactly what, but I can find out if you need me to). I bought Disc Warrior, but when I put it in, it looked like it starts running, then the computer just shuts down. What should I do?
(Sorry if I didn't give you enough information, I'm just not really sure exactly which parts are important or unimportant)
I have a 2011 macbook that has a motherboard that is broken, and that macbook has a terabyte Hard drive that was put in about a year ago after a broken hard drive was removed. Now I have bought a brand new macbook same model and I was advised by the apple store to take the old TB hard drive and swap it with the one in the new computer. I just want to know if by doing this I'm going to loose all of my files and programs by just swapping them. I have no back up anywhere just the files on the hard drive in the broken computer. So am I going to loose all of the files on the hard drive when I swap it? or will I have to get it backed up some how? They are both running Mavericks
my mid-2012 Macbook Pro Retina laptop is having Retina screen problems at startup, bootup and wakeup modes. The main failure mode is, during reboot or wakeup the laptop's Retina display screen does not work, a blank Retina screen results, and the keyboard does not light up. Also, at random times the laptop will just crash and self reboot, but then during reboot the Retina screen does not work but the computer reboots. Additionally, this laptop, compared to my work's PC laptops is lightly used, mostly for web browsing, photo viewing and email. At first this problem was only intermittent, but now the Retina displace screen failure mode has become a chronic repeating failure mode and is happening almost everyday and stays in this Retina display failure mode for a longer period of time. Additionally, this 2012 Macbook Pro Retina laptop had a failed graphics card within its first 4 months of light use, the failed graphics card had to be replaced.

I have recently found out about imessage for my macbook and have downloaded it from the apple website. However, I cannot use it because I do not have version 10.7? I have looked under "About this Mac" and apparently I have version 10.6.8. Is there no version of imessages that is compatible with my existing version? And if I have to have version 10.7 does that mean I have to purchase Mac OS X Lion?
I have been trying to send iMessages lately, but I keep getting a little Not Delivered notice in red with an exclamation mark next to my message. I have tried to log out and back in with my apple id but only to encounter the same problem. I have also tried rebooting but still with not success.
First I signed in with the wrong Apple ID. Now I'm actually logged into iCloud with the same Apple ID on both my Mac and my iPhone. Parenthetically, I would like to wonder out loud how synchronization of addresses, calendar items and notes ever happened before, with mismatched Apple IDs.
The problem is that I don't see that the iMessages I send in Messages on the Mac are mirrored in Messages on my iPhone. It makes me wonder, whether this is beta behavior or whether I still don't have everything configured correctly.
