View 4 RepliesI have recently found out about imessage for my macbook and have downloaded it from the apple website. However, I cannot use it because I do not have version 10.7? I have looked under "About this Mac" and apparently I have version 10.6.8. Is there no version of imessages that is compatible with my existing version? And if I have to have version 10.7 does that mean I have to purchase Mac OS X Lion?

I can send and receive iMessages on my iPhone with no problem. However, when I get on my Mac and open Messages, they do not appear.
Info:iPhone 4S, iOS 5
I have been trying to send iMessages lately, but I keep getting a little Not Delivered notice in red with an exclamation mark next to my message. I have tried to log out and back in with my apple id but only to encounter the same problem. I have also tried rebooting but still with not success.
Info:
MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10)
I have a MacBook Pro. I am having trouble synchronizing my iMessages between my iPhone 5s and my MacBook Pro.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display (The Lastest Model) which is registered with iMessage. I got this laptop about 10 weeks ago and all 10 weeks the iMessages has been able to send and receive messages very quickly. I don't know what happened, but a few hours ago my MacBook just crashed trying to open iMessages and it wouldn't turn on for 3 hours and it was burning. I don't see why it dashed because this Mac has 512 GB of storage, a 2.6 GHz dual-core Intel i5 with 8 GB of Ram. It is a 13.3" Model running on OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 and is pretty much brand new. I have been keeping track of how many times the iMessages app crashes and how many times I force quit it...
Crashes: 428
Force Quits: 398
So don't tell me to force suit this thing because I did almost 400 times...
I don't like that they automatically come to the computer even if the messages app isn't open. I've looked through preferences and I don't see a way to change this.

I noticed today that I had five unread iMessages on my computer, but not on my cell phone.

I am getting this message when I try to open the "messages" on my macbook pro: "An internal Messages error occurred." It doesn't give me anymore information and tells me I have to quit the program and restart. I do so and still get the same response. I have updated to the latest version of Yosemite and restarted the computer. This is a new issue that just arose today when I turned on my computer. I have been using messages, including the new text forwarding feature flawlessly since Yosemite's release and even before that for iMessages with mavericks.

Why can't I login to iMessages from my Mac? It just started all of a sudden, all my iMessage conv's are offline. I tried but get an error message that states "Your Apple ID "xxxxxxxx" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time" and then a customer code to contact apple.

First I signed in with the wrong Apple ID. Now I'm actually logged into iCloud with the same Apple ID on both my Mac and my iPhone. Parenthetically, I would like to wonder out loud how synchronization of addresses, calendar items and notes ever happened before, with mismatched Apple IDs.
The problem is that I don't see that the iMessages I send in Messages on the Mac are mirrored in Messages on my iPhone. It makes me wonder, whether this is beta behavior or whether I still don't have everything configured correctly.

I just bought a brand new mac book pro laptop (10.9.4) and have been trying for weeks to get my iMessages to work on it. Things I've tried:
old mac:
1. I've completely removed my icloud account on my old laptop. with a reboot.
New mac:
1. Completely removed iMessages on my new laptop with a reboot (a few times, and tried to reset everything in sync with my iPhone)
2. Signed in and out of the iCloud. removed my iCloud account and reset it up again.
3. signed in/out of my iMessages account (whilst rebooting and also tried doing that while my phone was off)
Iphone:
1. Signed off, signed on my iPhone.
2. logged out in airplane mode, then logged back on and re-added my iMessage account on my iPhone.
Info:
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I have the correct password obviously because I'm logged in here. Haven't changed a thing recently but it stopped working. I have tried rebooting, using multiple WiFi networks, and various other things.
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago iMessage on my Mac started doing an annoying thing where all my outgoing iMessages are blank, but the incoming messages are fine. So I can't see my side of any conversation. But I can see both sides properly on iOS (iPhone and iPad). So if someone starts messaging me when I am on my laptop, I have to have my phone turned on too so I can follow the conversation properly, as all of my replies are disappearing the instant I hit return to send them.

I recently upgraded to Mavericks (10.9.3) and iMessages no longer sync between my iPhone and my Mac Pro. I've checked the Support data base as well as Google and have followed the recommendations to check preferences on all devices and to restart all devices, but that doesn't seem to have solved the problem. Messages being sent from my iPhone 4S simply don't show up on my Mac.

I just have a quick question for someone who may know a bit more than I do. I remember that usually when I pushed the latch release button on my Macbook Pro, the display lid would pop up so it was easy to open it. Now, however, when I press the release button the lid doesn't pop up at all. This makes it a little bit more annoying to open. Is this normal as time passes? Or should the display lid always pop up?

I believe this acts differently on the iPad and the iPhone.

I set up my new iMac but with an old ID which is linked to me, my Mums and my Dads phone! I made a new apple ID earlier, and linked iCloud to the new ID but our iMessages are still all linked to the old ID! So how do I change iMessages on my mac from the old ID to my new one?

Should I be worried?
My concerns are that it might be too close to the screen and that I paid $1000 for a problem. Is there any way that I might be able to fix it without going to the Apple Store?
So I have had my new aluminum macbook for 2 weeks now and love it except for one issue. About once or twice a minute it makes a really annoying popping sound from the right speaker. It sounds like a crackle and then a pop. It happens if volume is up or muted, headphones plugged in/no headphones, music/video playing or not. Basically it happens all the time, nothing will stop the sound.
My question is should this be something I worry about, and get replaced/fixed? This is my first macbook and love everything about it except this popping sound. I have yet to contact applecare or take it to the store as I'm a busy college student and the store is an hour or so away. Just wanted to get your guys opinions on this issue first.
Searched this but didn't find anything similar.
I have a problem with a "q" button on my 2.4 Alu Makbook. If I press (normal gentle) the button several times near the left edge, the right edge of the button would pop out.
To put it back in I would have to push the button hard until a little click.
I took the button out completely and there is nothing wrong with it visually. Reattached and it still keeps popping out.
The fanny thing is that I only use macbook connected to the external monitor and keyboard so I really used a built in keyboard one or two times.
Has anyone had anything like that? Is there a way to fix it? Should I take to Apple Store?
How do I get rid of the very annoying mobile me box that keeps popping up? Its been doing it for years and so far I havent had a solution that works
View 13 Replies View RelatedI don't often use iMessage on my Mac because of the syncing problems, but occasionally when I do use it, I receive a delayed iMessage, like really delayed. I just got one today that was sent 11 days ago! And it happened to be a rather time-sensitive message that I would've loved to respond to within, say, a day of when I got it. Why does this happen and can I fix it?

Suddenly the iMessage app is only displaying my own sent messages for a single, specific contact. All other conversations include both sent and received iMessages. I had blocked this contact previously for a period of time on my phone but do not remember doing anything similar on my Mac. if it's related to the contact previously having been blocked on my iPhone?

I just received my new MacBook Pro (2.4GHz) to replace my older CD Macbook Pro from 2006 which was suffering fan problems.
My new MBP is great and faster, with the exception of a really annoying "popping" sound that is coming from the left hand side of the laptop. It's sporadic and might happen every few minutes, or every 30 sec. or varying lengths of time in-between "pops."
I searched the forum hear and didn't come up with virtually anything at all, but the Apple Support Discussions had several threads on the topic, most pointing to the Hard Drive and the sound possibly coming from the heads parking on the disk.
Could anyone offer any advice on the subject? I just got this brand new MBP from AppleCare and really don't want to have to go through all the work on getting another replacement if this sound is normal.
