OS X :: Unable To Connect To Internet Or Wireless Printer?

Aug 13, 2009

I was happy to get my mac pro yesterday, but upon setting it up, I couldn't get it to connect to my network. When I clicked I the airport logo and the top right, it said airport was on and I was connected to the network. However, when I opened up Safari I got nothing...just a screen that said something like "you are not connected to the internet." The last time I had a macbook, I turned it on and bam, I was connected to the internet right out of the box.

After trying to fix it for 30 minutes, I decided to reset my modem/router. After doing this, the macbook connected to the internet for a few hours and I went to bed. Now I come home today and it works for about 30 minutes and then stops working. Keep in mind, my PC is working flawlessly so I know my network is up and running. After about 30 minutes, it connects again...and then stops working again. Very frustrating. As I type this message, it still wont connect to the internet even though the computer says I'm connected to the network.

Another thing that makes me think there is a hardware problem is that the macbook wont connect to my wireless printer. I've installed the software 2x and right after going through the install procedure, it will print for about one minute and then it does nothing - I get a message that says something like "your printer is not on or not connected to the network." So then I went through the steps of connecting it again and again. Every time it would ask for the password to the network so I put it in and it says I'm connected....but nothing will print. After the 3rd time, I was finally able to make it to spit something out wirelessly from my macbook...but 5 minutes later it's back to saying my printer is not on or connected to the network. This is weird because initially it works and then it stops. During this whole procedure, my PC recognizes it just fine and prints within 5 seconds. For some reason the mac just wont do it.

I thought macs were supposed to just work, but this laptop has been more frustrating than any PC I've owned. Here I am with a new macbook that can't connect to the internet OR my printer. Granted, I know very little about computers so maybe I'm overlooking something simple.

If it's a hardware problem, do you think Apple will refund my money?

IMac :: Can Connect To HP Photosmart C4780 Wireless Printer Automatically

Aug 24, 2010

I have OSX 10.6 installed and I currently have my broadband connected by Ethernet connection. Airport seems to connect to my wireless router even though this is plugged in. HPSETUP appears as a device in the WI-FI drop down, however to print I need to select this from the dropdown. Can my iMac's wifi connect to this by default rather than my broadband connection?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Suddenly Wireless Printer (HP B210) Won't Connect To MacBook

May 13, 2012

It worked a month ago. But now, since the update, I can't get my MacBook and printer to hook up and play nice. They're both on the same network, and both say they're connected okay, but the Mac can't find the printer wirelessly. Works fine via USB. I've rebooted the router, rebooted the Mac, rebooted the printer, and even completely uninstalled and then reinstalled the HP printer software, along with that update from the Apple support site. Its like there's a wall blocking their communication. Weird.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Computer Doesn't See Wireless Printer

May 22, 2012

I have a Canon Pixma MX860 at home.  I've connected three Macs to it, two running Lion and one running Snow Leopard. In each case, I simply clicked the "+" sign and the printer appeared under "default".  This became one of my standard examples of "why Macs are better than PCs" (process very compicated for PCs).

I just got a new MacBook Pro at work running Snow Leopard, and it doesn't see the printer, and there doesn't seem to be any way I can add it by hand.  It *does* see the computer memory as an SMB device, but there doesn't seem to be any way to go from that to adding a printer.  I suspect this may have something to do with security settings, since they do lots of tweaks to computers before they give them to us.

OS X Mavericks :: Wireless Printer Can't Be Added

Sep 2, 2014

IMac, running Mavericks, connected to a wireless network. Using a Brother MFC-J6710 printer, connected wirelessly.

Recently moved printer and computer and am connected wirelessly. This worked intermittently. I started over, reset the wireless on the printer, and got a network report that says that the printer is connected to the wireless network.

On my Mac, I have reinstalled the Cups driver, Twain driver, and wireless setup wizard. When I go into the System Preferences>Printers, and try to add the printer, the printer does not show up in the list, so there is no evidence of the printer on my Mac. Similarly, I cannot see this printer on the wireless network from my IPhone either.

OS X Mavericks :: Wireless Printer Not Recognized By IMac

Jun 3, 2014

Suddenly, my HP Photosmart 7525 isn't recognized by my (wife's) iMac.  Ny iMac prints to it wirelessly just fine.  I downloaded the printer driver (several time), loaded it and the iMac reverted to the HP Utility to finalized the process.  The utility couldn't recognized the "device" to finish off the driver.  Same thing when I loaded the Photosmart 6525 (my printer).  The iMac apparently isn't loading the drivers.  It worked fine a day or two ago, now, nada.  WiFi works fine thru the AirPort/TimeCapsule module/router.  The printer wifi works with other computers.

OS X Mavericks :: HP C6180 Wireless Printer Not Working After Upgrade

Jun 23, 2014

I've a Macrbook Pro running Mavericks.  My printer is an HP C6180.  Prior to upgrading to Mavericks from Lion, I had no issues printing wirelessly.  I upgraded to Mavericks and I'm unable to print to the printer through wireless.  If I connect the printer to the Macbook via USB it works fine.  I connected it through USB and ran Software Update.  An update for the HP driver was found and installed.  I'm still unable to print wirelessly.  Both Macbook Pro and printer are on the same wireless network.  Nothing has changed with the wireless network.  The only thing new is the upgrade to Mavericks from Lion.

I found a similar post Unable to Connect to Printer HP Photosmart C6180 which indicated deleting the /Library/Printers/hp folder, restarting, and then reinstalling the the drivers using software update worked.  I did that as well with no luck.

When I try to add the printer it's just not in the list of printers available.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Connect To Some Wireless Networks - OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

Sep 3, 2014

My MacBook Pro (17" from mid 2010 running OS X 10.9.4) won't connect to some "open" wireless networks. The ones it has problems with are typically in hotels and are the kind where a login screen is supposed to be presented after selecting the network. Instead of getting the login page I get the message that I can't join the network and am prompted to cancel or run all the diagnostics (which aren't useful).

My laptop seems to be the only one in my family that has this problem. We've been places where out of 8 wireless devices (4 Mac laptops and 4 iPhones) my MacBook Pro is the ONLY one that won't connect. My wife's MacBook Air always connects like a champ. And my MacBook seems to work fine on most secured networks, such as here at home.

Mac Pro :: How To Connect A Apc Smart Ups 1000

Jan 5, 2011

I purchased a smart ups 1000 to protect my mac pro from power cuts and I currently have it on charge the only thing is I am not sure how to connect my mac pro to it (as it is my first time setting one up) I get that I have to plug the ups into the mains but then how do I connect the mac pro to the ups do I simply plug the 3 pin plug (I live in the UK) into the ups so the connections go cable plugged into mains>other end plugged into ups>mains end of mac pro power cable plugged into ups.other end of mac pro mains cable plugged into mac pro.

If this is correct the reason I have not realised it is because the holes on the back of the ups look a bit to close together for UK plug holes.

I cannot connect my MacBook (13-inch Late 2007) to LG Smart TV (47LB730V) via "mini-DVI to HDMI" cable.

TV says that something is connected to HDMI input and then show "No Signal" message.

But when I connect my Mac with the same cable and settings to another display (to DVI or HDMI input) everything works fine.

I think I should place something to "systemlibrariesdisplaysoverrides" folder, but do not know what

OS X :: Unable To Install Wireless Printer / Already Have A Similar Printer Set Up

Jan 15, 2010

I got a new HP wireless printer, and the mac suggested setting it up with the USB first, and then disconnecting once it was configured. I did all that. The mac asked to choose a wireless network for the printer, I did. Then the set up CD asked me to add a printer to the qeue from system preferences from the menu- when I clicked my printer was already added. None the less I followed the direction, and then got the message "You already have a similar printer set up, would you like to add this too?" I clicked YES, and then continue.

When I clicked on continue, the set up cd (or mac) told me that I had NOT set up a printer from the Queue (sorry about spelling), even though I had. So when I clicked continue, it told me the printer was not recognized in the wireless network, and now I'm stuck with plugging it in the usb. Please I know this sounds confusing, but why is this happening and what do I do to get the mac to recognize my printer? Apparently its not.My wireless signal is fine, I checked.

ITunes :: Smart Playlist - Location Is On This Computer?

Jun 29, 2012

I've just received my new MacBook Air (I'm loving it!) and as it's blank I'm taking the opportunity to assess my iTunes library and previous purchases.  I have downloaded a total of 20 tracks, so there are only 20 tracks stored on the harddrive, all other tracks are in iCloud. I've set up a smart playlist with the criteria, Location - is - on this computer, I fully expected this smart playlist to show me the 20 tracks that I've downloaded, but it remains blank.

I'm wanting to see these tracks, but for some reason the smart playlist isn't working.  Is this because the settings for the smart playlist are wrong, ie. this won't show what's on the hard drive? or is something going wrong with my playlist?
