Jun 2, 2014I recently shot some footage on a Canon C300 and would like to edit it on FCP 7, problem is it seems since my computer did the upgrade to mavericks I can no longer find the appropriate driver on the Canon site as Mavericks is not supported by Canon for this particular update.
After researching I found that mxf files can be transcoded in log and capture but you need the appropriate driver installed. I have looked into third party applications but none of them seem entirely trust worthy and some cost money, which I don't believe I should pay considering I bought a legit copy of FCP at great expense and Apple seems to have forgotten all about it now FCX has been out for a while.

I can print to it from my old Mac G5 running 10.5.8 with no problems. I do have the latest driver installed from Canon's website and also tried reinstalling it several times without any luck.

Sep 5, 2007I have installed the Canon MP380 printer driver for my new imac but I cannot find it listed under the Canon model name in Printer Setup. All I see are "gimp beta" this or that. When I try to print the text is too small. It's not filling up the standard size piece of paper I am printing on. What am I doing wrong here??? This is very confusing.

Jan 29, 2010i just purchased an iMac 2.66GHz Intel Core 2Duo (Snow Leopard 10.6.2) and I installed Canon Digital-Photo-Professional 3.7.3 (upgraded from Canon's website).I soon had big problems with the Canon Raw sw: after the start up of the application, every command I try to operate (even a simple click in the menu bar) makes the infamous coloured wheel to appear and I have to wait 10-15 seconds, and sometime more, for the command to be operated.I found on the Canon site this "cryptic" statement about the installation of DPP 3.7.3 on Snow Leopard: "Improvements to Mac OS 10.6 Compatibility Issues have been made, to fixes the following problems that occurred with Mac OS 10.6.
***This does not guarantee the software will work correctly in all Mac OS 10.6 environments.***"So what should this mean? Aug 31, 2014I bought a brand new 27" iMac with 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5, and it's got 8GB of RAM. Although I haven't been experiencing any specific problems with it, I noticed that it was running almost slower than my Windows 7 Laptop. Confused, I downloaded an app that monitors and clears up RAM. It started off okay, telling me I was using around 3-4 GB just for doing simple things like surfing the web and generally exploring my new Mac.
However, it started warning me that I was nearly using up all 8 GB of RAM. I double checked with the Activity Monitor and it's also warning me I'm using up 6-7 GB of RAM.
I'm not running anything other than Chrome, I've downloaded Adobe CC and Photoshop CC, but neither of them have been opened let alone running. Urk, this is my first ever day using a Mac... and I know that it shouldn't be using up 8 GB of Ram on it's first day of use.
((I'm running OS X version 10.9.4 if that makes any difference))

Dec 7, 2014My iMac used to be named "XXX XXXX's iMac". At some point after upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mavericks recently, I noticed that my iMac is now named "XXX XXXX's iMac (2)". I did nothing to change it. Is there any significance to this? Is there any reason to try to change it and get rid of the "(2)"?

OS X Mavericks :: Can't Start Up IMac?
Aug 28, 2014Just installed OS X Mavericks for my iMac last night. Wanted to do it because it was the only way for me to continue playing this game.Took awhile to install, but checked this morning and it finished and it said "Restarting computer" after the completion of the installation.
I pressed the power button and booted it up like usual, but whenever I start it up, no log in screen pops up whatsoever. I pressed keys, clicked everywhere with the mouse but nothing. All it shows is a plain, grey screen and at the moment, there's no possible way for me to log in and get on. I searched up some methods and tried to "safe boot" it which I did but it did not work. It could've possibly worked but i can't tell because my iMac screen display is broken so I'm using dual monitors but nothing shows up on my second monitor. I tried turning it off and back on, but still did not work.

OS X Mavericks :: Can't Log Into IMac G5 After Shutdown
Jun 1, 2014After a full shutting down the computer we needed to get back on, so on restart it came up to the usual 2 user options, mine and guest.
After selecting mine and entering my password the little Ferris wheel spins as usual but then the coloured pin wheel come up and spins for about 2seconds. The screen then flashes white and it goes back to selecting between the 2 users.
I did a Command R restart and went in to Utilities and changed my password (although I was entering it in correctly before) and no change.
I am running the latest updated version of Mavericks and have unplugged all peripheral hardware from the computer, followed by a restart and no change.
I've even left the computer shut down for 2 days and on our return still the same.

Pretty clean system, as I don't have a lot of software loaded. My son usually uses it for games, Minecraft mainly.
The last couple days it has been waking up on its own with no prompting. I checked the usual suspects, "Wake for network access" is not clicked, bluetooth is off and there are no sharing services that have been clicked on.
When I check the console, the only message that shows up during the self wake is:
"8/21/14 11:20:06.960 PM Console[309]: setPresentationOptions called with NSApplicationPresentationFullScreen when there is no visible fullscreen window; this call will be ignored."
This keeps appearing at the time the self-wake up occurs.
