MacBook Pro :: Can't Get Messages Directly To Computer Because Messages Are Under Different Apple ID
Sep 8, 2014
I have two apple ID's, so i can't get messages directly to my computer because the messages are under a different apple ID. How do i delete one of my ID's?
This is odd. Any mail I compose (in the standard Mac Mail app) goes directly to my outbox, and will not send. This is only true of my desktop computer. My laptop (using the same settings) sends mail easily. I can receive mail with no problem. Connection Doctor shows that I'm connecting to the server. Port settings, etc. are the same I've used for years with no problems whatsoever. Even when I use other mail servers with which I have accounts, the same thing happens, so it's an issue specific to my Mac and my Mail app, not the mail server. Dual2.7Ghz G5, 4.5 Gig Ram, System 10.4.11...
I've been using my MacBook Pro for about five months with no problems. It's equiped with VMWare Fusion, and I do most of my work there in windows. Saturday, morning, all of a sudden, I started getting the "application quit unexpectedly message" with nearly every application I tried to open in both platforms (Safari and the entry to VMWare). I haven't added any software/hardware lately, and the computer worked well Friday evening.
Any clues as to how I might resolve the situation from here would be greatly appreciated.
I made a new account because it wouldn't let me log in on my old account and now it seems as if it's working but it won't send or receive ANY messages. This application used to work so I don't understand.
How does one permanently delete imessages from the MessagesBeta Ap for a Macbook? I found the files to delete in the folder in "Documents," "iChat", but every time I start a new message, it brings up all previous conversation regardless
I have a new MacBook Air and an IPhone. When I send text messages on my iPhone they seem to show up in Messages on my macbook. I don't want my texts to be connected to my Macbook . What steps do I need to take to make sure my text messages only stay on my iPhone.Â
The Apple Mail on my son's iMac 5, running OS X 10.6.8, shows the number of unread messages (9), but if I click on InBox, the messages themselves don't show up in the main window. This suddenly happened, and none of his old, read messages show up either. But he can access them just fine from his iPod, or through his Network Solutions web mail interface. Also, in Mail we can search part of his email address, and all the messages show up, read and unread! He has no rules set up. The connection doctor shows the connection is fine.
Using Messages I sent a text to my wife's iPhone 4S. It starts a new screen. How do I send a message so it just appends that message to all the others she's been getting from me?

I am running mac os X version 10.5.8 and I find that mail will download not all my mail and will not send from any of my mailboxes.
I have set up mail with my googlemail account my mobileme account and my yahoo accounts. all are set up as stp and I have set them up according to all the online help lines. I have had mail set up for many months now, and have been trying to fix this problem for a long time now off and on.
One thing that I have tried is changing the outgoing port number from the default to 587, but still no joy.
My mac mail account on my Air is not showing my sent messages other than the one I just sent. To find the variables, I checked my mac mail on my iMac and my sent messages are there.

I went to send a message from my apple mail (gmail account) and it won't send. Says smtp.gmail.com is offline. I didn't change any settings but when I went in to check them, they were all gone. I added back smtp.gmail.com under description and my complete email address under server name. I then went to advanced settings and made sure the Use default ports (25, 465, 587) was checked and also Use Secure Sockets Layer was checked. I chose Password for authentication and added my complete email address for user name with my password. It still says I'm offline and won't sent a message.
hi, i've had some problems with my imac (2 years old) that include the fan randomly turning on and causing the computer to shut down. after checking console, i found this message had been repeated many hundreds of time
could someone please explain what it is? the vodafone connect is a now defunct mobile broadband which i used before i got wireless.
this is my first post here and i hate that it has to be on these terms. however, my mac mini today just out of no where popped up with an error message stating "you must restart your computer...." and so on in several different languages. im not a total noob...so this shouldnt be racking my brain like this. ive read every website and forum relating to this subject, and nothing anyone has to say seems to help. i understand this is a kernel error this message pops up quicker sometimes than others. sometimes it pops up at the blue screen just before my computer prompts me for my password. sometimes, it lets me log into my computer, then the error message will appear. and sometimes it wont even make it to the blue screen, it just gives me a gray screen then the error message. ive tried booting in safe mode and it lets me log in, loads my icons and my desktop, then as soon as i click a single click on the mouse, the message pops back up. ive read some people saying to try reinstalling osx, or to try loading the install disc and repairing some things. i cant get the computer to even seem to boot the disc when i put it in. i am trying to avoid reinstalling osx but if i have to reinstall osx, then i will. i did NOT install anything, upgrade anything, change any system files, change any hardware or anything. i was just downloading a torrent, left my house for a bit, came back and the error message was there. im a graphic designer with work that needs to be done...i can't have a broken computer. does anyone have any clue what to do?
I was using a program which opened my console and then I noticed in my console had messages referring to a couple of programs I removed a long time ago by dragging them to the Trash. It seems to be reporting thousands of messages every minute for one of the programs with the message "User or app not found." recurring.
This must be using resources, is there any way to stop this?
I want to set up an account in Apple Mail that only is used for sending out messages (SMTP). The mailbox exists, but I want it POP-ed by another method.I figured out how to suppress fetching email automatically (Preferences > Accounts > Advanced), but that still fetches whenever I click the "Get Mail" button. Can I configure a mailbox that's simply unable to check mail, but can send it?
my Mail does not want to send any messages, it can however receive messages
1. making sure that the outgoing mail server are using default ports(25,465,587) 2. clicking mailbox -> synchronize all accounts 3. clicking mailbox -> take all accounts offline, then mailbox -> take all accounts online
The Mail feature on my MacBookPro is not saving all the messages from my inbox. It did at first, a year ago, but in recent months I notice that some messasges are omitted. They are not spam; they include messages from someone in my Contacts list, as well as other legitimate organizations, etc. I tried to see if they were "combined" into some other related message, but saw no evidence of this, unless there is some hidden indicator.
I set up my icloud account at work using Mail because I was tired of writing personal messages from my iPhone. Initially I opted to not save any messages locally, since I prefer keeping my personal correspondence in the cloud and on my private devices. Unfortunately if I choose that option, then no messages are displayed in the inbox or sent folders. I am accustomed to the IMAP way of things, where Mail displays the server contents when online and in offline mode, no messages are displayed because they aren't saved locally. Is this possible with iCloud?
My mail program seems to be slow. I'm not sure why. I get the spinning ball frequently. I need to save mail messages sometimes for a few years and there are hundreds of emails. Is it better to save them on my computer than my mail program? I may need to retrieve them at some other time so they need to be readable. Is that possible?
I'm using OS X 10.9.4. I have a 3.06 GHz processor and 12 GB of memory.Â
I have an email account at my school that I access via IMAP with Apple Mail. Now my school email has a quota, so I have to delete my messages periodically. After using gmail so much, I'm used to not deleting messages. I want to be able to delete the messages on the server and store them on my computer, in effect locally archiving the messages.
I have my Apple Mail configured for use with my Gmail IMAP account but I have a problem. From the Apple Mail app, I can not see messages that were sent while in the web version of Gmail. To me, if I have it configured via IMAP, anything I do on my phone, I should see on my mac. Anything I do on my mac, I should see anywhere from the web app. Am I doing something wrong? Can YOU see messages you sent through the web portal, on your Apple Mail app?
I'm using Mail 3.6 on OS 10.5.8. I have three email accounts I manage through Mail. My main email account has stopped receiving emails. I can still send but not receive. My other two email accounts both send and receive just fine.Â
Mail had prompted me to import messages after a restart right before this account stopped receiving mails. All of the emails (from all three accounts) imported successfully and I'm sure what prompted Mail having to reimport emails in the first place. This main email account had grown quite large, around 46,000 messages and I've since got that number down to 28,000.Â

I have 6 identical messages in Apple Mail dating from 2006. I cannot delete them or move them. I've been told it is due to the messages being corrupted. OK. How do I get rid of them?
Info: MacPro 2x2.66 Ghz, 500 Gb, AT1900, Mac OS X (10.5.2)
The messages app on my Mac would work great with iMessages and SMS working, then today I had to update my apple id for security reasons and since then the messages app doesn't send sms anymore. Ive tried signing out and back in with the new password, restarting my computer, and even a few things in the settings of my iPhone 6+ and nothing seems to work. Some of my contacts that I can not message are tagged in red when they where not before I updated my apple id password
I live and die by my mailbox, I'd been using MS Outlook but it was fraught with too many bugs. A few months ago I decided to switch to Apple Mail as a lesser of two evils. I saw the demo for Apple Mail on Yosemite and it looks like a very robust program. However for now, I still find Apple Mail limiting especially with Exchange services.. but I digress.Â
I archive all my mail and rely heavily on the "search" feature. I recently started to notice messages I was searching for were missing. Initially I wrote this off to user error, however today I looked in my Sent folder and my Archive folder to find that there was only 30 days worth of mail?! I began to panic as I logged into my Office 365 webmail, but found relief in that all my messages were still there. The issue seems to be that Apple Mail is not keeping or displaying messages older then roughly 30 days. I've been using Apple mail for almost three months, so these messages should be there. Â
I had a hotmail account and about a month ago apple mail deleted all my messages from the hotmail account, therefore I am unable to access any of them from anywhere else except my mac.
I learned that that was due to me leaving the box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message." Now I fixed that and moved to gmail, as I was able to upload all hotmail messages to my gmail account through tuhunderbird.
Since I am not a big fan of Thunderbird as it is giving me some password issues, today I set up the gmail imap (I think) accunt on my apple mail, but there is no box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" for gmail in prefrences, just for hotmail.
Now I am scared, will apple mail delete all my messages from the gmail server, and if it will, how do I prevent it from doing so?
