I have an Apple iMac running OS 10.9.3, with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 20GB of memory. My problem involved the compromising of my mail system after I foolishly clicked on a link in an e.mail which seems to have effectively given permission for the contents of my address book to be used to spread spam. I am currently receiving e.mails purporting to be from people in my address book, the subject of the mail is stated as 'Delivery Status Notification (Failure)'. It seems that the spam is trying to send mail to loads of people (because it was given permission...!) and the message are being bounced back. How can I remove (reverse) this permission and stop the spam in it's tracks.?
The auto settings for a mail account under Mavericks are not allowing receipt of emails on my Mac Mini. What is the procedure to manually input incoming mail settings?
Can't setup MAIL account on iMac no IMAP server. Says I have wrong SMTP server. I"m using a iMac version 10.9.4. MavericksHere is an example for you. I'm trying to set up Time Warner Cable mail account. I have Gmail, iCLoud and Yahoo mail.
I am running OSX Mavericks and using Mac Mail. I have several email accounts set up including 2 different gmail accounts. My preferences are set up so that new messages are supposed to send from my primary gmail account. However, over the past couple of days, when I reply to a previous message or create a new message the message appears to be sending from my primary gmail account. That's the address that shows up in the box showing from which account the message is being created. The message uses the signature that is set up for my primary gmail account, and the message appears in the primary gmail account's Sent mail folder. However, when I look at the actual message that was sent (I tested this by sending it to another non-gmail account of mine), the From email address showing up is my secondary gmail account. So, replies are coming back to that secondary account, not the account from which I sent it.
I do not have this problem when sending messages from my iPhone or iPad, so I'm pretty sure it's strictly a Mac Mail problem.
I've checked the Preferences to ensure that my Composing settings have it set up to send from my primary gmail account, and it is set up that way. When composing the message, everything indicates that it will be sent from the primary gmail account, but instead it goes out as if coming from my secondary gmail account.
This is definitely a new problem. I've not updated anything on the Mac OS recently. The only updates that have been applied recently are a Flash Player update and an MS Office update. This problem started before either of those were applied, I believe. I know for sure it happened before the Office update.
My Mail client stopped connecting to iCloud all of a sudden this morning. It has been set up a while ago and always worked fine. Now it shows the broken connection icon, and when I click on it it asks for my iCloud password.I enter the correct password and click OK, and nothing happens. The broken connection icon remain and I do not receive new e-mail and cannot send emails.
I am certain this is the right password as I can log into iCloud webmail, and my iphone and ipad remained connected. Is there something wrong with the iCloud server, or is there something I can do?

I've always used Mail in Mac OS X but one day I decided I would try Outlook 2011 so I could manage rules and filters without having to go to OWA. I was not very happy with Outlook 2011 so I removed it and decided to go back to Mail for Mac OS X. Since trying Outlook 2011, I'm having problems setting up the Exchange account in Mail.My company uses first.last company.com and flast company.com for our email address/alias.When I setup the account, auto discovery finds everything just fine and logs me in and downloads all the mail, rules, filters, etc. stored on the server. The problem is in Internet Accounts in System Preferences, I now see two Exchange accounts. One for first.last and another for flast. since mail seemed to be working fine, but one day I noticed something when I did a reply all to a mail message. It included myself in the reply to fields. I thought maybe it was a setting in Mail that I overlooked when setting up the Exchange account. As it turns out though, the problem is that the first.last account is now somehow the default mail account on Exchange and the flast is what I'm replying with.Checking System Preferences, I noticed that the first.last Exchange account doesn't have checks in the selection boxes for Mail, Contacts or Notes, but it does for Calendars and Reminders. However the flast is exactly the opposite; it has checks in the selection boxes for Mail, Contacts and Notes, but not Calendars or Reminders.
When I try to enable Mail, Contacts or Notes in the first.last Exchange account I get an error dialog stating "There was a problem setting up the account. An unknown error occurred."I experience this on multiple computers, including an iMac 27", iMac 24" and MacBook Pro 17".I'm using Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 and iCloud for my home accounts and connecting to an Exchange 2010 work account.

For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.
i use both an apple mail email and an IMAP email for my business.
I have had a recurring problem with filing mail:I am trying to file all email messages onto my iCloud folders on my mail.
1. When i file mail into a folder into won't stay in the folder. It comes back into my inbox.
Furthermore, if it does file messages (which is sporadic) then the messages will go into the folder but someones a copy will also reappear back in my inbox)
2. When i delete emails: the appear back in my inbox even though i have deleted them.
I do not receive an error message when this happens, the emails just pop back up & into my mailbox
How I can do a work around to get message to stay in the folder i want them? Due to this issue my inbox has over 4000 emails in the inbox and i really need to file documents away.
I am operating on OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) and all my updates are up to date!
My home folder is corrupted. I created a new user account and it seems to be fine. I'd like to transfer all my data files to my new account. This is no problem with most applications, but I'm not sure what to do with Apps that save the data themselves.
I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me. - Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail. - If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
I've been trying for weeks to update my MacBook Pro to either OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 or 10.9.3 but it isn't working. When I open Software Update, it tells me that I have an update available (OS X Update Combined 10.9.3), but when I click Update and agree to restarting, it says "An error has occurred. The file couldn't be saved because you don't have permission.(513)" Additionally, the update is listed under Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days. However, when I click on About This Mac, it says that I am running 10.9.1.
I tried downloading the update from the Apple Website (OSXUpdCombo10.9.3.dmg) and after installing/restarting, when I login and click About This Mac, it still says 10.9.1.
in my office I've a network hard drive mounted volume on /Volumes/guest-share, when I try to open directory I get an error:
"The folder can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents" imac:/ roccoverrastro$ ls -AOel /Volumes/ total 56 -rw-r--r--@ 1 roccoverrastro admin - 6148 26 Giu 00:33 .DS_Store
Everytime I time to open a PDF file in Preview I get the msg, the file couldn't be opened because you don't have permission to view it. I have checked the GET INFO and all permissions are correct.
I am considering having a roommate move in and letting them use my Mac. If I create them a guest account can I ensure that my e-mail and files will be secure by having this second account, or is there another way to accomplish this?
Is there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
Does anyone know of an easy method to receive a return e-mail receipt using Apple Mail and a .Mac/.Me account. I know that in Windows you can use Outlook to receive/request a return receipt when the receiver opens the e-mail. I believe that even using Microsoft Office Entourage '08 would work as well but I really want to stay all Apple applications if at all possible
I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).
I've added a Google Apps account to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 few weeks ago to use it in Mail, but I removed it last week. I tried adding it back during the weekend, but I've been getting this error: "Mail couldn't discover the account settings for the Mail server domain"
This comes after I click "Set Up" and tick Mail only. I don't have 2 step verification enabled for that account and I didn't change any account settings since adding it last time.
Also, I can still see the account (as well as other Google account that's currently not added to OS X) in Accounts.plist located in: ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData

I have decided to use Entourage over Mail due to it's robustness and more features than I can possibly ever use. Here the question:I am coming from a PC using Outlook 2007. I have done my research on how to get my mail off my Outlook and importing it into Entourage.Fine, great and dandy. I haven't performed it yet but I have a couple of questions before running with this.1. I have MobileMe account. Installing that into Entourage was relatively easy. Done.2. Installing a new "mail" account (POP or IMAP), I'm going to assume is the same way BUT if I install this, will it mix with my MobileME? What I am expecting to see is that it would store separately in it's own section. What is right?
I'm migrating the admin side of my life to my iMac. I am using Mac mail for my mai, this includes a Gmail IMAP account and a POP3 account for my meandering ISP. The IMAP one loads up fine with the IMAP folders there under a sub set of folders for the account. But the POP3 account won't let me create folders within it nor does it have a subset like the Geekwolf one you see below. What do I need to do to get it to have folders, I need to be able to sort incoming mail, but at the moment, I can't.My ISP does have an IMAP setting, but I don't want to have the mail sat about on a server.
I am away from home, and the inbox of one of my mail accounts on my MBP (10.7.3) has lost all its information. When I get home I want to restore (most of) the lost data from my Time Machine backup.
However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?
I just set up new IMAP account on Mail (Version 2.1.3 (753.1). And I can send and receive mail fine. However the sent mail is not showing anywhere.
Also the mailbox has submailboxes directly underneath it (whcih are all empty) unlike the other mailboxes where Draft and Sent Mail are all in the same place from all of the accounts.
When I go to account info, the system tells me that I haven't sent any mail. But I have and already received answers.
About a week ago I noticed that my emails were not being received by Mail. I have my mail set up on my iPhone as well and I was receiving emails on the iPhone, however they were not showing up on my macbook pro. The account is sbcglobal.net. How can I fix this?
Not quite ready to upgrade to lion but cant get mail in snow leopard to set up an account to download my icloud .me emails.Im on the latest version of snow.Is t me or mail? surely its just an IMAP account at the end of the day?
