I was wondering if there is a keyboard short cut to swtich language input of the keyboard than manually clicking to swtich language. I'm an English user, but sometimes use Korean keyboard. i tried to look in keyboard --> shortcuts but don't see that option nor understand how you can manually set up that short cut like in windows.

When I go to System Preferences >> Language & Text >> Language Tab, I see a language which is in there.Yet, when I go to the Input Sources tab, that language is not listed and so I cant use it.How do I get the language into the Input Sources tab if it's not there?

I used to use Windows with the same set of languages and it was even more difficult than in OS X, because each IME may have multiple languages (for example, Korean IME has both Korean and English mode). Now in OS X it is better than Windows because each IME has only single language, but still there are some troubles.
I use long command + shift. It shows the list in the middle of the screen, but the order is change depending on the current IME. And it only has text, no flag icon, so it is difficult to get the IME I want without carefully watching the screen.
It looks like OS X does not support assinging a shortcut for each langauge. For example, if I could assign F1 for English, F2 for Korean and F3 for Japanese it would be much easier. Or if only the popup language screen had flag icons...
Is there any third-party app that helps switching between multiple IMEs?

Last night all of a sudden, my Command Tab has gone haywire. I hit Command Tab and the Application Switcher window comes up and there is this very fast switching going on. Just like a stuck key. I have tried Command Button and the problem still happens (I've only got one Tab key that appears to be working fine when I press/hold it).
Again, this just started last night, I figured a reboot would clear it up. After rebooting it still happens, even with only two apps open.
When I switch applications using the command+tab shortcut, sometimes one application icon is darkened. What does that mean?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn a day-to-day basis I run: Adobe PS, INDD, and AI, Microsoft Entourage, Firefox and iTunes. Just recently, after an upgrade to Leopard, I added Things and Simplify Media to the list.The problem that happens before (on Tiger) and now (on Leopard) is command+tab switching stops functioning and Expose hot corners and shortcuts stop working.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a Finder crash because before, on Tiger, I could quit+restart Firefox and everything would be back to normal. Almost as if some shortcut had causes the system to act differently or there was some app dissonance?
But now, with Leopard, nothing I quit will cause these two features to act properly until I do a restart. Both features (command+tab switching and expose) are very necessary for my work flow. I have checked SysPref to make sure keyboard shortcuts are default and Univeral Access to make sure assisted devices is turned off.
Is there a solution to programs hanging when switching between one program to another?

We've upgraded to Mavericks and Abobe CC in one time, so I'm not sure this is a Mavericks or an Indesign problem..Switching between 2 programs is very very slow now.f.ex copying text between Word and Indesign takes several seconds - if I copy too soon, I still have the previous text loaded.
Also opening several Indesign files, and switching between them is a problem: it takes time to preview correctly, text "dissapearing" for a few seconds, or only re-appearing when toggling between views..I work on a iMac mid 2011, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8 GB memory. how I can get the same spead back as before?

I have a neat scanner connected to my mac via USB. My wife and I both use the scanner and have separate accounts on the same machine. The issue is that the scanner gets "connected" to either one user or the other. Let's say the scanner is working fine for user A. User B can't use the scanner properly. It seems like first come first serve. When user B pushes the scan button on the device and user B is the active account on OSX. User A's account still gets the popup window responding to the scan request. I guess I am looking for a terminal command, or some procedure, so that user B can come in and gain access to the scanner without logging out user A.

I'm verifying such an annoying problem, mostly at startup that appears to solve automatically after OS Mavericks is running.
Sometimes my iMac boot until the login windows in 45 seconds which is very good, but most of times I have to wait 30-40 minutes for the login windows to appears

I also have another Problem: Every time, I restart my mac, the process "installed" goes wild and uses over 100% of the CPU. After a few minutes also my disk is full. It seems to write Gigs of data in private/var/vm.

I have 2 monitors on my computers - 2 Mac Pros (2011) and an iMac. All are running 10.10.1. I have one monitor in each case that is the "home" monitor - with the dock and files on the desktop. All 3 of my computers keep switching the Dock to the other monitor. Once switched, the Dock stays on the other monitor until I use system preferences to change the arrangement. It seems that Outlook 2011 Reminders switch the active screen (when using multiple spaces in OSX which I always do) when they pop. This seems to happen whether I have the reminders set to appear on all desktops or just the first desktop. This is hugely annoying when I am in a fullscreen app (e.g. parallels) and suddenly I'm warped over to the first screen again. I'm talking about spaces functionality in OSX, not multiple monitors. I believe it happened after I used VMWare Fusion 5 but I do not believe that is the problem because I have used it before without any issues. I also tried reinstalling Mavericks OS X but that did nothing. The transition is just not a clean and pleasant transition from one desktop to the other.

I used to be able to grab a portion of a web page or a document by pressing command shift 4. That no longer works for me, though command shift 3 does work.I can us the Grab app of course but that's a bit more cumbersome. Am using 10.9.3 on a late 2013 iMac.

In order to get the software running I need to open a terminal window and type some commands. Is it possible to just write a text file and turn it into a .command file that will not require me to write it out every time.
Here is exactly what I have to write in Terminal to get the program running again.
sudo su
filler14
ignition stop
ignition start
exit
Typing sudo su asks for the password which is filler14. After entering it I type ignition stop and it takes a second and it responds that it stopped. I type ignition start and it takes about 3 seconds and responds that it is running. I type exit to get out of sudo su and then exit again and it says operation complete, and then I close terminal.

I am a mac newbie, but experienced linux and windows user. I am trying to restore my mac mini (mid 2011) running mavericks. The process should normally be very simple; press command-R keys while booting to start recovery mode and go from there.
Unfortunately my keyboard is a palm-sized keyboard without command or windows keys. So I am stuck. I have 2 windows laptops that I can use to remote login but I cannot do remote login during boot.
I tried mapping the Command key to Ctrl key inside OS X, but it seems like this only works after reboot.
I tried to use recovery disk assistant as it requires "Option" key, but the assistant does not allow me select the HD, as I guess I do not have a recovery system on the HD.

I had it in to a Mac store where they told me I had serious hard drive damage (? hardly used, may have been dropped with out my knowledge..)
