OS X Mavericks :: Command Could Be Used As X Copy In Windows?

Jun 27, 2014

I need to pick up files with certain rule as .mov and to move them to another folder.

How to carry out similar command (win) "xcopy /folder1/*.mov /folder2  -s -e -d" in os-x ?

Can this be done with cp, if how ? rsync copies only complete folders ?

OS X Mavericks :: Recovery Mode Without Command Or Windows Keys?

Sep 8, 2014

I am a mac newbie, but experienced linux and windows user. I am trying to restore my mac mini (mid 2011) running mavericks. The process should normally be very simple; press command-R keys while booting to start recovery mode and go from there.

Unfortunately my keyboard is a palm-sized keyboard without command or windows keys. So I am stuck. I have 2 windows laptops that I can use to remote login but I cannot do remote login during boot.

I tried mapping the Command key to Ctrl key inside OS X, but it seems like this only works after reboot.

I tried to use recovery disk assistant as it requires "Option" key, but the assistant does not allow me select the HD, as I guess I do not have a recovery system on the HD.

I tried doing network install, but it requires the install CD, which I don't have. I have an ipad and two iphones if it

OS X :: No Copy CD Command On Mac?

May 21, 2009

When I try to copy a music CD using the method of creating a DMG from the original CD and then burning that to a CD, the CD appears to burn just fine but in finder it shows up as empty, does not open in iTunes and when played on a CD player, it just acts like it is playing but no sound comes out (That is with my CD player, I only have one). Is there a better way to copy a CD? Why does Mac not come with a "Copy CD" command?

MacBook Pro :: Copy Some Text Onto Clipboard Using Command C

Jun 17, 2014

I am using a MacBookPro late 2009 running10.9.3. I am using Ffx version 30.0, latest edition. I copy some text onto my clipboard using Command-C and then I use Command-F to find text on the firefox window. then when I try to paste my clipboard text (with Command-V), whatever I typed into the Command-F window is what gets pasted.  This overwriting of my clipboard is brand new - Ffx never worked this way before.

I have restarted my computer. I have reset Firefox. I have restarted Firefox in safe mode -> the problem persists. I am using the Default theme in Firefox. I do not have any extensions. I have only a few add-ons but when they are disabled (= safe mode) the problem persists. I have unchecked the "use hardware acceleration when possible" option in Firefox preferences and the problem persists. I posted in Mozilla support and so far I have been told to try safe mode (doesn't work, as above). I have tried selecting the "automatically search when I start to type" in Ffx to go around the Command-F step --> the problem persists.

Edited to add: the command-F search function works fine. That's not the issue. It's that using Command-F automatically overwrites my clipboard text with whatever text I type into the command-F search box.

OS X Mavericks :: Write A Simple Bash Command?

Sep 12, 2014

I have a mac mini that has some software that is supposed to start at bootup, but does not always do so.  In order to get the software running I need to open a terminal window and type some commands.  Is it possible to just write a text file and turn it into a .command file that will not require me to write it out every time.

Here is exactly what I have to write in Terminal to get the program running again.

sudo su

filler14

ignition stop

ignition start

exit

Typing sudo su asks for the password which is filler14.  After entering it I type ignition stop and it takes a second and it responds that it stopped.  I type ignition start and it takes about 3 seconds and responds that it is running.  I type exit to get out of sudo su and then exit again and it says operation complete, and then I close terminal.

OS X :: Cannot Eject Windows Disc From IMac Even Hitting Command Option + O + F?

Dec 8, 2009

Got a new 27" iMac recently and am trying to set up Boot Camp. I partitioned the HD and then installed Windows XP. The installation went smoothly, and then the computer restarted. Only problem is the Windows XP system disc is still in the CD drive. Now the computer wants to boot from the CD and can't. I get a message that says, "Press any key to boot from CD. Disk error Press any key to restart", and I have no way to eject the disc. (There is no pin hole next to the CD slot that I can put a paperclip in to force it out.) I've tried restarting and then hitting Command + Option + O + F (found that advice at Apple's site). No joy. Apple support is closed for about the next three hours
