Jul 1, 2010When I switch applications using the command+tab shortcut, sometimes one application icon is darkened. What does that mean?

OS X :: Command Tab / Hyper Switching?
Feb 20, 2010Last night all of a sudden, my Command Tab has gone haywire. I hit Command Tab and the Application Switcher window comes up and there is this very fast switching going on. Just like a stuck key. I have tried Command Button and the problem still happens (I've only got one Tab key that appears to be working fine when I press/hold it).
Again, this just started last night, I figured a reboot would clear it up. After rebooting it still happens, even with only two apps open.

Jun 18, 2014I was wondering if there is a keyboard short cut to swtich language input of the keyboard than manually clicking to swtich language. I'm an English user, but sometimes use Korean keyboard. i tried to look in keyboard --> shortcuts but don't see that option nor understand how you can manually set up that short cut like in windows.

Nov 22, 2009On a day-to-day basis I run: Adobe PS, INDD, and AI, Microsoft Entourage, Firefox and iTunes. Just recently, after an upgrade to Leopard, I added Things and Simplify Media to the list.The problem that happens before (on Tiger) and now (on Leopard) is command+tab switching stops functioning and Expose hot corners and shortcuts stop working.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a Finder crash because before, on Tiger, I could quit+restart Firefox and everything would be back to normal. Almost as if some shortcut had causes the system to act differently or there was some app dissonance?
But now, with Leopard, nothing I quit will cause these two features to act properly until I do a restart. Both features (command+tab switching and expose) are very necessary for my work flow. I have checked SysPref to make sure keyboard shortcuts are default and Univeral Access to make sure assisted devices is turned off.

Aug 18, 2010I've use a terminal command to create a SOCKS proxy through my ssh server (ex. ssh -D 2008 -l user server.here), to which I am then prompted to enter a password, and everything is connected. For the sake of ease of use (as I need to do this frequently), is there any way I can make a dock icon, or something along those lines, so I can just click it, it runs the command, I enter a password (or maybe even not?) and it's all set? I have tried setting up a workflow in automator to run a shell script, but it is unsuccessful, leaving me with "Run Shell Script failed: Pseudo-terminal will not be allocated because stdin is not a terminal."

I used to use my HP external drive for time machine, but since i got a new bigger WD one to use with time machine i have wiped the HP using disk utility but it is still showing up on the desktop with a time machine icon. i think i can still use it like a normal hard drive but it is causing a bit of confusion and its really irritating!! is there any way that i can change it back? i've tried wiping it a few more times but it still won't work..

Jul 6, 2009Every few minutes my 13" MBP completely stalls, video and music pauses, can't do anything with my MBP and the mouse icon turns into that waiting icon. I don't know what it's called but it's round with colours inside it.Anyways, it stops me from what I'm doing for about 20 seconds and happens every few minutes and it's beginning to annoy me now!

Aug 31, 2014I have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.

Jan 19, 2010I'm afraid I'm having a Windows user moment. Sometimes I still fail to do things the easy, intuitive way, even after roughly 4 years in OS X. I have 5 hard drives in my Mac Pro, one of them is my boot Intel SSD. I want that icon to be distinct from the others (another is a Time Machine drive). I've downloaded two files that would work for me, one was a png and the other a .ico file, but when I copy the icon from the top left corner of the 'get info' pane on the desired file, and then paste it int he correlating top left corner of the SSD 'get info' pane, it pastes the generic PNG or ICO icon, not the actual icon image I desire.

Mar 11, 2009I'll be switching from a PC to a MAc, and it just dawned on me that there are a number of cookies on my computer which I would like to take with me. I find some cookies to be very valuable. Some sites, I want to remember me; such as, banking and some shopping sites. Also forums and other places which have passwords and can remember me, or can remember where I've been on the site. Is there anyway to take those along? My procedure is to copy everything I need to my external drive and then copying from there to the Mac. I don't think I'll have much of a problem finding out where things should be put; so, I'm not using any automatic migration assistance or plugging the two computers together.

However, this is not the case; a logout-login is required to switch between the 9400M and 9600M GT on the MBPs. It was thought with the release of Snow Leopard this would be fixed.
So, has it been? will it be? Any word on using both graphics cards at the same time to boost performance?

Sep 6, 2009did the way that you switch through open windows change in SL? usually I hit ` to switch through windows and shift ` to go backwards through the list. Now it seems though the window order isn't being followed correctly. Lets say i have 5 open windows starting at 1 hitting ` takes me to window 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 then 1. typing shift ` would take me to 5 then 4 then 3 then 2 then back to 1. Now though, under SL it seems not to follow that very simple design rather if I start at one and page through to say 3 then start again it jumps back to 1 then to 2 then to 3 and then finally to 4. Feb 8, 2010I have little to no knowledge of the compatibility of the Macmini to a PC. I currently own a 4 yr old HP Pavilion. There's not much wrong with it, it's slowed a little, but my husband and I have been wanting a Mac. We saw the Mac mini and like what we see, but we don't want to have to buy a new printer and monitor when both work perfectly. The monitor is an HP vs15 and the printer is a HP Photosmart USB. I get a message saying that it is synced with another computer (PC), do i want to erase (i click cancel).
