OS X Mavericks :: Outlook 2011 Reminders Switching Active Space
Jul 1, 2014
It seems that Outlook 2011 Reminders switch the active screen (when using multiple spaces in OSX which I always do) when they pop. This seems to happen whether I have the reminders set to appear on all desktops or just the first desktop. This is hugely annoying when I am in a fullscreen app (e.g. parallels) and suddenly I'm warped over to the first screen again. I'm talking about spaces functionality in OSX, not multiple monitors. This feature. OS X Mavericks: Work in multiple spacesÂ
I will be switching from Outlook 2007 to Office for Mac Outlook 2011 for my business email/calendar/contacts. I am pleased with Outlook 2007, but despise my PC otherwise. I will be using Microsoft Exchange as my email server. My concerns: Calendar Syncing, Accessing Archived PST files, Transitioning current mail folders.
I have a couple questions regarding this switch:
- Will Office for Mac Outlook 2011 accommodate by business needs and offer a comparable application as Office 2007 (PC version)?
- What roadblocks or issues should I be aware of when making this switch?
It seems that I'm not alone with 'issues' in synching Outlook for Mac 2011 with mobile devices.. The setup I am trying
MacBook Air (brand new) Mavericks 10.9.3 iPhone 5 iOS 7.1.1. Outlook 2013 (brand new)Â
I've been able to succesfully import all of my email (from a previous version in windows) as well as get the contacts and the calendars imported onto Outlook for Mac, but am at my wits end to get them all talking to each other. Â
Outlook won't sync to the iPhone for mail, contacts and or calendar, nor visa versa. Â
I'm now reading that perhaps mavericks is not compatible with outlook synching services or outlook synching services isn't compatible with mavericks.
I have a user who just switched from Mac Mail to Outlook 2011. Getting a strange issue when sending to users on Outlook 2010 PC.
When sending a message, users on Outlook 2011 and people viewing the message via web mail can see the message fine. It reports that it's a digitally signed message (just one sentence), and the certificates look fine. Via the web, the message appears fine. It says: "This message has a digital signature. The digital signature could not be validated because the S/MIME control is not available." However, it comes up fine.
However, users on Outlook for PC (my version is 2010), cannot read it. I first get a preview pane error "This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents." And when I double-click on the message, I get a pop up window "Your Digital ID name cannot be found by the underlying security system."
Anyone can provide clues why other Outlook MAC users and via the web the message can be read, but just not PC Outlook users for now?
I had a "To Do" list in iCal running Lion. I just upgraded to Mavericks and now have Calendar and Reminders. My "To Do"s did come across into Mavericks and Reminders.Â
I found my "To Do" list in Reminders in that when I click "Today" I see reminders for today. When I click on any date on the calendar I see reminders for that day. On my "To Do" list in iCal and Lion I often had items that I didn't have a date on. I called them "Unscheduled". Now for my question.Â
How can I find my unscheduled items, i.e. those with no due date? How do I get to them? My process used to include reviewing my unscheduled items and if any of them should need to be done, I'd add a date at that time.

I would like to use the 24 hour clock and not have to work about the extra step of AM or PM. Can I set a preference to use the 24 hour clock with Reminders? I can set it with my clock display on the computer but I do not know who to correct with the supporting apps.

The Reminders App have become unusable. I unable to create a new Reminder or modify an existing one. Every time I want to make a change in a field in the individual Reminder window it closes. This makes creation and updating impossible. From time to time the App just crashes for no apparent reason.Â
I am using a 27-inch, Late 2013 iMac, 3,5 GHz Intel Core i7, OS X 10.9.4 (13E28).Â
How do you like it? I am still on Entourage 2004. I do not use exchange so not sure if it would be worth it. At the job we use Windows and Outlook anyways so dont know if it would be worth it to buy Outlook 2011. Is Outlook 2011 worth the price or should I stay with Office 2004? I use Mail a bit, but it lacks a number of features found in Entourage so I switch back and forth between the two mail clients.
I hope I have the right board. Has anyone used Outlook 2011? If so what do you think? I am am still using 2004. Its got allot more features than Mail (although Mail is much faster). I would like to upgrade but want to hear what others say first. I also wonder if it would be worth it, since I am no longer a student and all use of MS Office at the job is done there on a Windows PC. I do not take my work home.
I just upgraded to MacOSx 10.9.3 (Mavericks) from Mountain Lion. Apple Mail can no longer create a reminder by dragging an email into the reminders icon on the bottom app bar. This was a great function. Was it discontinued in Mavericks, or is this a flaw that I can fix by changing a setting somehow?
We use Exchange 2007 in our office. My mail, notes, and tasks all work fine in my Outlook 2011 for MAC. The calendar is blank. I have removed and added the account twice. It's been this way for more than a week. My calendar is fine when I go through outlook web access. It is also working on my iphone. Others in the office using the same Lion version have no problems. I added my account to another MAC with 10.6.2 and everything, including calendar, works fine.
I've got a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.3), iPhone 4 and iPad 2. I use Office/Outlook for Mac 2011. The email is fine, but I can't figure out how to get contacts and calendar to sync with iPhone & iPad using iCloud. Is there a way to use iCloud to sync contacts and calendars across all devices?

Apple Master Mind's for one more time i need your light for one **** of a mind bogling matter. In Microsoft Outllook for mac it keeps asking me for my password for its and every one of my email accounts, thats ok !!!!!! But every time i enter the password after 20-30 minutes keeps asking again.Â
Not Option to..... Unistall OutlookDelete Account "Company Account" needs 4 hours to sync, im in oman.
I've read around the forums a bit and found some discussion on connectivity for sending / receiving emails via Outlook. Is it true that POP3 support is not going to happen with Outloook for Mac 2011? I have been testing the software and am able to recieve emails from my Godaddy POP3 but can not send anything out.
Is there an email/calendar/notes client out there that is close to Outlooks functionality? I am a nub as this is my first Mac and would really like to know what else is out there that is comparable and combines the features mentioned earlier. So far I love the OS and the speed...My custom built PC has shut down for the last time.
I have just purchased a Mac Pro and will be using MS Office with Outlook. My G4 MDD desktop is running Entourage 10.1.6. Is there a way to transfer the data [emails and addresses] from Entourage to Outlook?
how can i recover folders that were "on my computer" . I lost them when my macbook pro shut down while using outlook 2011. i have back ups in time machine but have no idea on where or how to recover

I just returned to the iPhone after 2 years with Android and am trying to sync my calendar and address book via iCal. Supposedly this was made possible by Outlook 11 Service Pack 2, released in April, but I can't make it work. I'm on the current versions of Lion (10.7.3), Microsoft Office (14.2.2) and iPhone (5.1.1). Here's some of what I have tried so far: Rebuilding the Microsoft Office database. Turning sync services off in Outlook by unchecking all the boxes, then turning it back on again. Resetting Sync Services on the mac side from the menu at the top of screen. Going into Library/Preferences and deleting everything related to SyncServer. I also tried creating a new OS X user account then syncing up that account from Outlook to see if there was a problem with my user account and once again could not sync.
I just purchased a Macbook Air and MS Office 2011 for Mac. I setup the computer while I was at work (using a wireless network) and was able to get all my emails in perfect order. Â
However, once I got home (on my home wireless network) when I hit Send/Receive, I get the "Authentication Failed Error 17900" message. Â
I must add that I have 5 different accounts setup, 4 are my personal domains and one is Gmail. Gmail works fine on outlook both from my office and home.Â
I tried changing many settings in Outlook, but nothing seems to work. I'm not really good with these things, but my logic tells me that if everything works in the office and not at home, it must have something to do with my router at home! Could this be the case? My office is an hour away and I hate to go there just to check or send emails.Â
How do I resend and redirect emails? The option are no longer there.
If I enable sync services it says it will merge my calendars and address book. I want to overwrite my Outlook data with ical and address book data but the option doesn't seem to be there. How do I ensure that I don't end up with duplicates?
I'm giving outlook beta a test, running the PGP software with it. The software used to have entourage scripts to be able to encrypt the messages, and I wanted to give a try to see if the scripts could be used/easily modified to be used with Outlook 2011 giving them a try with no mod at all, an error (as expected) pops up: "can't make <<class ctnt>> of window 1 of application "Microsoft Outlook" into type Unicode text Anyone who knows how to make the proper mods to make it work? attaching a printscreen of what the script looks like...
I am fairly new to the Mac world and have been using Entourage flawlessly for my needs. I upgraded to day to Office 2011 and am having nothing but trouble with Outlook. Every time I try to open a new mail or create and email or really just click on anything, I get the spinning wheel. At this point it is rendering it unusable. I have tried removing the account and reinstalling it.
It looks very nice but I'm not sure if it's just me but Apple Mail just seems easier. I do like that you can flag emails and put them off for a certain day. It doesn't appear that I can do that with Apple Mail. Other than a few things I still feel that Apple Mail is easier and works so much better with mobile me.
I just installed Mac Office 2011 and am having trouble connecting my hotmail account to Outlook. I go to add my hotmail account and everything seems to work, but it does not show up on the left side under inbox or anything. When I go back into settings, it shows the hotmail as my default account, but I can't see any of my messages. Also, periodically alerts pop up in the bottom right hand corner showing "new" messages, however they are really, really old emails from my hotmail account.
I can click on the alert and read the old message, but I can't find where those messages are on Outlook. I have successfully added my gmail account and my home university's account. One other thing to mention, when I delete the hotmail acct and try to add it again, it always adds "On my computer" under the inbox section. This "inbox" keeps popping up with old old emails. So I go into preferences/general and hide it.
I really like Outlook for Mac. But it has a "privacy" protector or something that won't download images unless I click on "download images." How can I set it so that Outlook just downloads the damned things and leaves me alone?
I'm trying to add my exchange work email to Outlook 2011. Says I need Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Update Rollup4 or later. Where can I find this for Apple or any exchange server download?
I am working with a friend who uses Microsoft Office 2011 on an iMac running 10.7.2. He is suddenly unable to print from Outlook. Choosing Print... from the File menu or clicking a print button produces no result at all - the normal print dialogue box does not appear. Previously he could print without a problem. He has no problem printing from Word in Office 2011.
We have updated Office to 14.1.4 through Microsoft Update. We have worked through the advice in the Microsoft support document 2409305 - backing up Outlook identities, and removing Oulook Preferences as advised there. The error remains. We then created a new identity and found we could print from that. So we followed the Microsoft advice to rebuild the Outlook identity database. We still cannot print from Outlook.
I am using a trial version of Office 2011 for Mac! When I try to import the outlook pst files from my pc and follow the correct procedure it doesn´t work. Outlook only says that it has encountered an unknown problem and is shutting down.I talked with Microsoft support but they don´t support their trial versions only premium. That I think is funny because if the trial version is not working how can you trust them that the premium version is working.Â
I try now to transfer all my mails with their categories to Outlook too but I don't succeed. I read some discussions on this forum but they are obsolete as they were with snowLeopard and Outlook 2011. Would someone have good news for me and find a way to transfer all the mails with their categories from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac ?
