Upgraded to Mavericks recently and now my sent emails show my internet account number not my name. My provider (Bell) says it's a Mac issue, and as the emails send perfectly from their BellMail site it does point to being an Apple issue. Full name details are shown correctly in Mail Preferences, but any email I send only has the account number in the 'From'.Â

i use both an apple mail email and an IMAP email for my business. Â
I have had a recurring problem with filing mail:I am trying to file all email messages onto my iCloud folders on my mail. Â
1. When i file mail into a folder into won't stay in the folder. It comes back into my inbox.
Furthermore, if it does file messages (which is sporadic) then the messages will go into the folder but someones a copy will also reappear back in my inbox)Â
2. When i delete emails: the appear back in my inbox even though i have deleted them.Â
I do not receive an error message when this happens, the emails just pop back up & into my mailboxÂ
How I can do a work around to get message to stay in the folder i want them? Due to this issue my inbox has over 4000 emails in the inbox and i really need to file documents away.
I am operating on OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) and all my updates are up to date!
I had an Exchange account that I had been using for years. Recently, I switched jobs, and therefore the Exchange account was discontinued (i.e. my user was deleted from the server, emails bounce). BUT I cannot remove this obsolete account from my System Preferences > Internet Accounts. It drives me crazy. Whenever I hit the "-" minus button, the account disappears, but whenever I open Internet Accounts again, it's right back in its place. Apple Mail keeps complaining that it "cannot connect to the server", but won't let me delete the account.Â

Just recently I have noticed that the number of emails that the count says is higher than I actually receive. For example it will say "1 of 21" but then I will only have 15 to read.
I have tried looking at the settings etc and even counting the Apple message section it still does not equate to the number it say are "incoming".

As I have no way to retrieve these songs and autyhorize them it because of the inactive account I cannot play the songs on my new computer without repurchasing them.

No matter which from address I select in mail the email that are sent only come from one address. This address being one of my own domain which is accessed via imap from google apps in mail. No matter what other address I select from be it a mac.com address (or alias) or another address those that receive the email see it as from this one address. I have checked the preferences and it is set to send from address account of selected mail box. I can only send emails from one of 6 accounts in mail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a switcher so sorry if this is a dumb Q (and yes I searched first) but Entourage keeps getting the same emails from my POP account. I have it set to leave messages on the server for a few days (3 I think) before deleting b/c my Blackberry pings the account for emails and if I leave for a weekend I want the BB to find the emails.
But whether I sort the emails into folders, delete them from Entourage, or leave them in the inbox, Entourage retrieves them - again. And I then have to delete them all.
ALso somewhat strangely, it doesn't retrieve them every time it checks the POP account (which it does every minute), only every once in a while.

I use the Mac mail application on my Macbook Pro. Running OS X 10.6.5. I have several email accounts. 2 of them are aol accounts (IMAP). For some reason, for the past 2 days, when I send an email from those aol accounts, even though the email goes through, the email does not show up in my SENT folder. I know the email goes through because I receive replies from the recipient.
My 2 other email accounts (not aol) don't have that problem. Once again, this just started suddenly, 2 days ago (only with aol accounts)
When I highlight the SENT folder in the sidebar - and then go to the MAILBOX pulldown menu - and select USE THIS MAILBOX FOR - the options are all grey. I can't select them.
I have been getting duplicate emails for a while now (17" powerbook 1.5ghz g4, 10.3.5). Sometimes I get 12 copies of the same email! I tried trashing the prefs and that helped for a few days, but it keeps coming back. I also setup and tested my mail account on another machine and that machine never gets doubles.

I can receive emails!! But unfortunatelly it's not possible to send them via Mail. I have to go online to send them.
in addition I cannot download my adressbook to my Mail-adresses. Is there a way other than coping them by hand?
I have a private pop account and it is a hassle for me to constantly view the same email on my mac that i just viewed on my iphone to remove the "unviewed dot." If i view them on my mac it removes the dot from my iphone, ipad and itouch but not vise versa.

Since this morning I'm unable to receive emails from my iCloud account using Apple Mail on my Macbook Pro. The message is 'Cannot Get Mail, the user name or password for iCloud is incorrect'.When I enter the correct password it will not take and continues to ask me for may password over and over. My user name or password are correct because they work for all other related iCloud services and iTunes, etc. I can't even log in to iCloud Mail via the web to submit an error report

I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to sort out a mail sending issue with my work Macbook (10.5.8).I basically receive email from 2 accounts ( personal email account and work wmail account). Because I'm behind a proxy server at work I had to play around with the settings so that I could send emails via the work account but receive replies to my personal account. I spent a bit of time playing with the settings and trying different things.  Eventually I got everything working fine, BUT in the process I decided to delete my personal account and re-configure it. Again, all went well, except for the fact that the 2K emails (collected over the past year or so) sitting in my in-box were removed as well. When I added my personal email account back in I only got emails that were currently sitting on the (pop) mail server. The previous years worth of emails dissapeared. Where do emails go when you remove an email account from osx mail? Surely they don't delete without trace? is it possible to recover those emails from a delted account?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to replace my hard drive on my G5. I am running OS X 10.4.11. I am now receiving mail but can't send it. I am using the proper outgoing mail info. When I tried to send an email I got the message it couldn't be sent using the POP info. Below that is a message that says to send the message using smtp.mac.com.myname. Incidentally do I have to have the .mac account in Mail?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with Mail and trying out POP3 with hotmail. I discovered that mail downloaded ALL my emails from the last 5 years and deleted it from my hotmail webaccount. So, I tried to find the settings to prevent Mail from downloading and deleting email but couldn't. So I proceeded to delete the account from Mail. To my horror, I found that I've lost all my emails as well!!!
Is there a way to retrieve my emails? Now I can't even find the pop3 setting for free hotmail.
A while back, after closing my business I canceled my account with Intermedia where my company email accounts were hosted.
Ever since, when using Entourage with my personal email accounts, Entourage kept prompting me that it was not able to connect to my business account. I usually ignored these warnings, but a few days ago, they became so annoying, that I went into Preferences and deleted the account- without thinking.
This was the last placed that these emails were stored and I desperately need them as evidence in a lawsuit that I am currently involved in.
I have not been backing up my computer anywhere, but I know they have to be here somewhere, right?

I've been trying to set up a new email account using apple mail Version 2.1.3 (753.1) using mac osx version 10.4.11. My out going mail server is Sky. However,it is not a sky email address and i'm having real problems getting it to work. The account has been set up and i can recieve email but not send email. When i try to send an email i get the following message.

I did this and clicked on ok but that box just reappears. I know that the password is correct.
I have a client with a very strange issue in Entourage 08. In the settings he has only ONE email account setup which is an Exchange account. Yet in Entourage he gets email delivered from the exchange server, as well as from an SBCGlobal account (Old Email account which is still active, but not used). The SBC account emails are delivered to 'Folders on My Computer'. I have no idea how these emails are being delivered when there are simply no settings for any account other than the Exchange within the Entourage settings.
Any ideas how these could be delivered without any settings in the 'Accounts' control panel?
I have a very important email which i wish to recover.I changed my account in mail client, by deleting my exsisting pop account and adding a new imap account.My new imap account now has only messages from 5 days old. The email which i would like to recover is upto a few months old, I beginning to panic as I feel i may have done something i shouldn't of, and that particular is email very valuable.Is there a way to get it back? Yes i do have back ups, but my external hard drive decided to blow up on me at the worst time.I have also checked my server for that account and they have told me my pop account would have deleted emails once downloaded. I am with bluehost if that means anything.

I have set up the option for deleted mail to go to trash. I have deleted all email from the actual gmail account. Yet I still have almost 10k emails sitting on my Macbook. I have repeatedly deleted them, but they keep reappearing!

I can no longer receive my emails from the icloud to my mac even though it has been doing it fine since I moved to the icloud a number of weeks now. I only get my mail if I log into icloud or I get it on my phone, it is not synching to my iMac.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy company E-mail account was closed today and I had anticipated the messages would be stored by Apple mail for offline viewing. It was an IMAP account with the preferences set to so that the mail was never deleted and all messages were to be kept. However, all the mail has disappeared with no action from me. Is there anything I can do to recover this information? I did not "back up" these messages as I thought they would be left in the mail program for viewing and that I could later archive them.
