Nov 6, 2008I use my ibook G4 since 5 years and I love it, but sofar I have not been able to set up Mail properly. I have a aol account and as far as I found out it's [URL]. I can receive emails!! But unfortunatelly it's not possible to send them via Mail. I have to go online to send them.
in addition I cannot download my adressbook to my Mail-adresses. Is there a way other than coping them by hand?

Sep 5, 2008I've been trying to set up a new email account using apple mail Version 2.1.3 (753.1) using mac osx version 10.4.11. My out going mail server is Sky. However,it is not a sky email address and i'm having real problems getting it to work. The account has been set up and i can recieve email but not send email. When i try to send an email i get the following message.
The server response was: 5.5.1 [URL]
or
The SMTP server �smtp.tools.sky.com� rejected the password for user �Blah blah�
Please re-enter your password, or cancel.
I did this and clicked on ok but that box just reappears. I know that the password is correct.

Nov 23, 2010Two years ago I switched over to Mac. Now I use only mac. But I don't like to change my email address from hotmail (I still have another gmail address as a standby account). Recently I found I cannot send emails from my hotmail account. Windows live says to upgrade my browser safari. Downloaded the safari new version. Then I found it is not compatible with my operating system OS X 10.5.5. What shall I do? I don' like the way they change software. There should be some solution. Can I buy new operating system? If it says Hardware is not compatible then money go into waste.

Mar 16, 2009I have one problem again regarding my "MAIL"
I can send emails, without any problems...but I can't RECEIVE any emails, at all. All of a sudden.
On the left bottom corner, I can see, receiving 1 of 4, and after 1 min, the bar is gone, and I cannot get any emails at all.
When I login to the webmail (abc.com/webmail for instance), I can find there're 4 emails sitting there "unread"
May I know what's the problem? and how to fix it? because I want to be able to receive the mails from MAIL instead of logging in to webmail all the time.

Oct 2, 2009I have an issue with my Apple Mail. I've configured my server's email on it. Now it works all fine when I setup a new account; I can easily send and receive emails.
However, after I quit the application, and reopen it, I can ONLY send emails! I don't receive any emails!

Aug 28, 2014In my Mail app on my MacBook Pro, I have an iCloud and a google account, but for some reason, the app won't let me send any emails out. I can receive and view all my emails, but if I try sending an email, it just throws the message to the outbox, but it never actually sends. If I log onto my gmail account through google on the internet, my emails will send just fine. But through the Mail app, absolutely no emails will send. I leave for college tomorrow..

Jan 31, 2010I will try and be as clear as possible and I hope I posted on the right board.
1. I connect my MacBook air to email via WiFi at home.
2. When I do this I can send and receive emails using the mac email program
3. I can also connect to the internet as well.
Now the problem
1. When I am in a hotel say and connecting to the internet using a WiFi hotspot:-
2. I can surf the internet with no issues
3. But cannot seem to send or receive any emails.
I also have a similar problem with my IPhone except even at home I can't send any emails when WiFi is on but it receives with no issues. Again, using a WiFi hotspot I have the same issue. Turning off WiFi and switching to 3g or edge I can receive and send email.

Feb 15, 2012How can I send high resolution photos from iphoto11 as attachments, not imbedded and made lower resolution in emails? Each time I try to do this, I choose the "actual size" option in iphoto, but I'm told by repients that the photos come through in lower resolution than I sent them and they were imbedded not attached.
There must be a way to send high reolution, suitable for reporduction, photos. After all Apple is said to be super in graphics. All the tutorials, even my "One to One" guru give instructions for imbedding the photos.

Feb 28, 2012I have a very important email which i wish to recover.I changed my account in mail client, by deleting my exsisting pop account and adding a new imap account.My new imap account now has only messages from 5 days old. The email which i would like to recover is upto a few months old, I beginning to panic as I feel i may have done something i shouldn't of, and that particular is email very valuable.Is there a way to get it back? Yes i do have back ups, but my external hard drive decided to blow up on me at the worst time.I have also checked my server for that account and they have told me my pop account would have deleted emails once downloaded. May 26, 2009I have Entrourage linked to my bigpond and orcon accounts. For some reason it has suddenly started not being able to send messages, but can still receive messages. I have not changed any of my settings so don't understand why it suddenly says "An operation on server timed out. The server may be busy...."
I can still send emails via my hotmail account though which is also set up through Entourage.
I have recently changed internet providers so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.
I changed my settings Default SMTP from 25 to 587 as per response on your site to same problem in 2007.
I am running Mac OS X 10.5.7 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo with 1gb 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Mar 28, 2012My mail has stopped being able to receive email from yahoo. Everything is set up properly and it was working fine up until a couple of days ago. Mail seems to have problems connecting to the server.I can receive but not send. When I use the connectivity doctor it stays for ages trying to connect to the yahoo server, sometimes it connects after a few minutes, sometimes it doesn't connect at all. I have no problems sending or receiving emails from my ipod, other computers or yahoo itself, the only problem is with Mail.
