OS X Mavericks :: File Cannot Be Saved - It Is In Unrecognizable Format
Jun 17, 2014
It will not save it saying. This file can not be saved it is an unrecognizable format. /Users/diane/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Mail Downloads/A02307BB-F55C-48D4-B9BA-9E979E4201C2/sm06440.jpg....I have done nothing new to the Imac, and cant understand why this has changed.
I have a macbook pro running 10.9.3 mavericks and I want to use an Epson SX235 printer to scan documents. I can scan but the jpg file is not saved. I am not sure I have the correct software
I use an Olympus OMD-E10 but I cannot see the .ORF RAW on my 2011 iMac with Preview. I get: "Preview currently does not support this raw file format." My Macbook Air reads the files OK. Both run 10.9.4. Is there a way to check that Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.06 is actually installed?
I would like to know if I can use Imovie to edit a clip I have saved in Mpg. If this is not possible, what format shall I have to be able to use Imovie to edit / cut certain clips.
I am using a Mac OX10 with Mountain Lion. I saved a vital mailbox to an original document file but it turned out encrypted. How can I get it into normal format? why did this happen?
I got a file named myfile.dat from my supervisor and he said myfile.dat is a helix database file. I tried to open that file after installing helix server 6.1.5, but I couldnt open it. I am really in a confusion that whether the given file is helix format file or something. Can anyone tell me that how to open *.dat file or how to identify the format from the file extension.
iJust deleted a couple object in IDCS2 and hit command-S instead of command-Z. These objects had lots of attributes applied to them and this will take me forever to get this thing back to the way it originally was. Is this possible to recover?
setting to be able to open a file before it is saved. for example clicking on a torrent link file only gives you the option to save it. how to bypass the save and let it open straight to the default torrent program or whatever you got set up as the default program.
For some reason when I save a Microsoft 2008 Word file to my desktop, as soon as I am done saving it, stuffit opens and a folder with the same name as the .docx file is created that contains the .docx info. So everytime I save one file I end up with 1 word doc and one corresponding folder. Any feedback on how to stop this or hide the folders or put the folders in their default directory?
The file couldn’t be saved. keeps coming up at around 1800. Can't tell what file or program. Thought it might be the Time Machine but it seems to be working ok. How do I find the route of the error
I am using Mail from my 15", late 2012, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 MBP running Maverick OSX 10.9.5 with 16 GB memory. I have 4 mail accounts with approximately 30 folders. Everything has worked fairly good the past year, with a bump here and there. Suddenly today nearly all mail in these folders has disappeared. There are a few folders that have retained all their mail, however the majority is gone. Is there a remedy or is it gone? Rebuild has done no good.
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
why are my saved photoshop file icons pixelated? I have not changed any settings but suddenly my saved file icons have become pixelated. The file opens normally and seems fine.
I work on Excel files through my Office Mac program. On two occasions, a large Excel file, (about 1.5 MB) will not save and is not recoverable. It gives me an error code -43. I work on many such files without problem, but this has now happened on two occasions with important files.
How to convert wmv. to mp3, then put them into itunes. I have found alot of downloads for this, but I get alot of "image not recognized" I've spent days on this and want to know how to make them "recognizable" without spending another whole day trying to figure this out, or is there any criteria so I wont keep running into this? cant just do the conversion in itunes. I have tried most of programs including VLC and other top rated ones. Audacity even seems cryptic to me. A friend said if I download WM Player but again they are "unrecognizable."
I have a simple automator sequence that suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. Copy Finder Items has started returning an error "the file xxx couldn't be saved to the folder yyy" Happens for different files and folders. Can't see anythng that's changed.Â
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.4/2.2 GHz), Mac OS X (10.7.3), iPad, iOS 5
Adobe reader will not open pdf files I have saved as, or, export as pdf to my desktop (latest Maverick). The same file does open when I am on the source website (i.e. user manuals etc.). Why?
I have a 500+gig music collection on my home PC. The problem is, 275gig is on a Maxtor External HD (my E: Drive) so the pathway for itunes is different than the rest of the collection which is on a Western Digital MyBook 1T (my H: Drive). I have had no problem until my Maxtor decided to become 'unrecongnisable', thus rendering Itunes unable to find the music on this E Drive. Somehow, I have been able to 'wake up' the Maxtor by connecting to my lap top, disconnecting, and then re-connecting to my home PC. Sensing a problem, I transferred the 275g of music over to the Mybook 1T and renamed this folder 'Music Maxtor'. Of course, I have a folder called 'Music' on the 1T also.
The problem now is, how do I change the pathway in itunes for all of the music that was originally on the Maxtor?? Do I have to do this manually for EACH SONG!?? I don't want to move the music in the music maxtor folder to the other 'music folder, as some of the file names are the same. eg. I have an Aerosmith folder in both. Should I just rename? Is there an easier way? OR, can I purchase another external HD and when I connect it, I make it my new E Drive and just transfer the music maxtor folder back to it??? Would that work for itunes?? I know I have created a fair rod for my back here, but what do you do when you run out of room on an ext HD? Or one packs it in...
I don't understand why after 4 Apple Repair Depot visits my MB Pro is STILL killing several USB FLASH and external hard drives a week. It has consistently done this since the day I bought it. I have fried a large variety of FLASH Memory sizes, shapes, through all USB ports and even through attached hubs. Once my mac does this to a USB device, it is no longer recognizable by any Mac or PC ever again. Unrecognized, it doesn't even leave an opportunity for Disk Utility to reformat, rewrite, perform first aid, verify...nothing. Third-party formatters don't work either. It also doesn't seem to matter what brand, size, or port I use. For a certain period the devices would become very hot and sometime actually melt into puddles of liquid plastic and metal.
On the 4th depot dispatch for this issue they did replace the mother board USB ports and EVERYTHING ELSE but the display hard drive, and case. This stopped the heating and melting problem, but I'm still frying the devices and rendering them unrecognizable. Does anyone have ANY IDEA of what may be causing this? Is there anything I can do to stop or prevent it? Apple sure can't explain it much less fix it. This is a huge EXPENSIVE problem, and I can't seem to get past it, and I'm in an endless loop of sending in in for constant repairs. WHat can be done to stop or prevent this from happening?
My home folder is corrupted. I created a new user account and it seems to be fine. I'd like to transfer all my data files to my new account. This is no problem with most applications, but I'm not sure what to do with Apps that save the data themselves.Â
