Jun 28, 2014Ever since upgrading to Maverick, my Contact program has accumulated multiple copies of Groups and the program runs extremely slowly. Is there a fix?

However, many of my contacts have more than one email address and I would like to be able to specify which address photos get sent to. I can't work out if it's possible to set a default address to use.

May 17, 2010I have set up my Mac Address Book to sync with my Google Contacts. I have created some groups in my Google Contacts and I have created some groups in my Mac Address Book. These groups are not identical. After a period of time shouldn't they be?? What should happen in such a situation? How is the best way to manage Contact groups? I have an iPhone, and was looking at apps to create contact groups on it, but held back as I seem to be in a mess with my Mac and Google syncing, without adding to the confusion.

Apr 10, 2012When I make a new contact on my iPhone, my iPhone recognizes it and it syncs and everything, but if I open Address Book on my laptop, it automatically deletes any new contacts I've made. Also, the "Delete Group" and "Delete Card" options in the Edit menu are always grayed out now. Â This has become quite a serious problem as my contacts are disappearing every couple days! Is there any way to reset address book to it's previous state (of WORKING) without losing all my contacts?

Aug 22, 2014It seems that the contacts app has suddenly become incapable of accessing my contacts in the cloud. Its fine on icloud.com, its fine on my phone, and its fine on my ipads. However, I'm getting an error message right now which I think must be to do with an update to Little Snitch which I did almost immediately before, and which necessitated a reboot. Since the reboot, I am seeing the following
Of course, this also means Messages doesnt work. LS is not blocking any icloud things, and calendars and mail are still working with no issues.Â

OS X Mavericks :: Can't Open Users And Groups Using 10.9.3
Jun 27, 2014I am trying to edit my login items as apparently from what I have been told that is the only way to get my Belkin n52te speed pad to work with OS X Mavericks, however when I click on Users&Groups in System Preferences I just keep getting "Preferences error: Could not load Users and Groups preference pane" I have tried rebooting, I have tried going into terminal and showing hidden files to see if there is a corrupted duplicate of the system preferences file.
None of the fixes I have found by Googling the issue to find posts about it have worked. As I said in the beginning I have a belkin n52te speed pad that I cannot change the keybindings for because Mavericks will not recognize the device as being plugged in. When I run the keybind editor program and from what I was able to find about that issue online it has to do with editing the login items to include a file from the installer and then rebooting and trying again. I could just hook into my windows PC since that actually works but its difficult to have to unplug the pad and hook it into my windows PC anytime I need to make any changes to the keymaps, so getting my mac to work.

Jun 22, 2014Trying to set up calendar in Mavericks 10.9.3. The defaults are Blue = Home, Green = Work, Purple = Holidays and Grey = Birthdays.. until you uncheck some and they disappear.Â

However, they're all showing up as grey. I can't seem to find anywhere where I can set up my own colors.  I wish Apple weren't getting so controlling. I know many of you want everything to synch up but........not everyone uses the calendar for work or even wants to sync it with anything else. Â
The Calendar app used to be simple and easy and you could set it up however you wanted. Doesn't appear so now and very group the same grey color, isn't very useful! I'd get rid of "Home" too but it's the only thing that isn't grey besides Holidays-- since I eliminated "Work".  I don't know what "Home" is. Since "Holiday" is purple, I want "Medical Appts." in Red. I want other things in other colors.Â

Jun 3, 2014I was working on a iMac running Snow Leopard, trying to change the home folder of the previous owner, call her Kathy, to the new owner, Barb, because Barb needs access to all of Kathy's folders, email, etc.Â
Right now all I have in Users is Admin. Barb's account is appearing in Groups, not Users. And I'm not sure if all of Kathy's data is in Barb's account.Â
How do I get Barb's account back into Users?Â

At one point I added a new account to my print sharing. I later turned printer sharing off for that account. But here's what's strange: If I go into Sharing > Printer Sharing, and click the "+" to add a user, that account still shows up as eligible to add. However - that user account does NOT show up anywhere under "Users & Groups" in the general Systems Preferences pane. So, essentially, I have a User Account that can share resources, but I can't remove it. How to remove a user account from sharing eligibility when it's NOT showing up in "Users & Groups"?Â

May 14, 2012My wife and I both have a .mac/.me account. She runs iphone 4s & ipad 2 whilst I run iphone 3gs, macbook and imac. All now run IOS5/Lion and I transferred last week from mobile me to icloud. However, with mobileme we used to share contacts and calendars. I've worked out how we can continue to see a 'joint' calendar' [by adding my account to her iphone for calendar only] but cannot seem to do the same in respect of shared contacts.Â
We both have our own contacts which must stay on our own devices but I had assumed that the sharing of mutual data that was submitted by either of us via any our devices would be easier via icloud. Instead it seems harder since icloud has to attach to one or other of our identities, unlike mobile me. Obviously I can go through Clare's contacts in icloud and manually delete each individual of my contacts, but how do I add my contacts that she wants also on an ongoing basis?Â

Sep 4, 2014I've got an annoying problem: The contacts app on my Mac does not save any changes.Â
I made a clean install today. iCloud sync on, everything is fine. I setup a new user, so I could give screen sharing and file sharing rights to a user with another mac.
Now, I cannot change any contacts in my contacts.app any more.
I checked the rights for Library etc. and gave the Admin and the user accounts again full read and write permissions.

Dec 5, 2014I have noticed my contacts on my macbook are not synchronizing with iCloud. I have 20 contacts more on my matchbook than I have in iCloud. Since I have more than 500 contacts I don't know which ones I'm missing.I also have double contacts in my 'all contacts' but I cannot delete them. I trust my iCloud contacts, but there are at least 20 contacts missing there.Â

Jun 28, 2014I can no longer add or delete any contacts in Contacts. I am running Mavericks, 10.9.3 and I have an IPhone 5 which is up to date on its software. I have tried having iCloud syncing on and off and still cannot add or delete contacts on my MacBook Pro (brand new; with Retina display). I have looked for a preference file and cannot even find one that seems to be for Contacts. I can remove contacts from my iPhone, and I can sync it with my laptop, but the contacts I deleted on the phone are not deleted on the laptop. When syncing, which I have tried doing both wired and wireless, it takes forever to finish, it if it does at all. I usually let it set at working on step 5 for about 5 minutes before I just click the round "X" and dismiss the sync box.
