Aug 21, 2014Copies of sent emails are not appearing in the Sent folder. as of a few hours ago. I have not changed anything in preferences or elsewhere.

Oct 29, 2008I've come across a strange behaviour of Finder when copying a folder over another with the same name. I'm using 10.4.11.
Say I have a folder named "Test" and it contains "File1" and "File2" and I copy it over another folder named "Test", which contains "File3" and "File4".
After copying I would expect folder "Test" to contain all four files, but it doesn't! It will only contain the two that I copied over, the original two will be deleted.
Is there any way to have finder replace files of the same name when copying and retain all other files in the destination folder?

Jun 26, 2014I am using OSX 10.9.3 on mid 2011 Macbook Pro. I am working in Apple mail and e-mail thru a google account and a pop3 account.
My question is: How do I stop, copies of my (as I am) composing e-mail, from showing up in the mail trash. I can have as many copies in the mail trash as the number of words in my message. I have looked thru the mail, apple support (non fee based) and thru FAQ in communities.

OS X Mavericks :: Make Copies Of Install Discs On HD
Sep 2, 2014I have older OSX versions that are on disc in addition to some older software. I want to have these files stored for when I need to make another boot disc or an install. I want to have them as .dmg files. I guess that is the default that you can open on OSX, add the serial number and install?
Can I use the OSX operating system to make these? I also have toast 11. Can I do the same thing?

Jun 1, 2014I need to have 2 copies of Mozilla Firefox with abolutely separate settings on my iMac.
On my previous PC I had 2 portable copies of FIrefox from portableapps.com Can something like that be performed on iMac?
Why: sometimes I need to use a US proxy setiings in brouser (to purchase @ US stores that block foreign IPs). On the other hand I have my main everyday Firefox set up for my everyday needs. Switching settings is quite annoying. I just had a separate copy of FF on my PC for use with US proxe settings before i moved to iMac.

Aug 26, 2014When you compose a Mail message, if you double-click the send button it sends TWO copies of the mail? I just sent someone a message, and my hand accidentally clicked the mouse twice when I hit send. I heard two whooshes and saw two message windows briefly appear. And sure enough, two copies listed in the Sent folder. I thought I'd sent an earlier draft which was sitting behind the first message. But no -- I tried it again with a new message to myself. And I received two mails.

Aug 25, 2014I upgraded to Mavericks and one of the widgets that was in the + area has been duplicated on my dashboard and I can't get rid of them. There is no 'manage widgets' button like there was in Snow Leopard. I can't get those little Xs to appear, unless I want to delete the widget entirely.

Apr 11, 2010I was downloading my senior pictures from the photographers website when suddenly I don't know what I did but the downloads folder disappeared from my dock! I got it back (I think...there is this little blue folder that says "downloads") But now when I download an image it won't go into that little folder on the dock. The little box pops up like it used to to show the progress of the download but it doesn't show the tiny loading bar in the little folder in the dock and when it is finished downloading it does not appear in the folder in the dock!

It appears to be named with a single Japanese or Chinese character (those being my best guesses, could definitely be something completely different) and reappears upon restart if deleted. Nov 26, 2009I was reviewing Apple Support's Mac 101, Files and Folders Lesson and I noted that compared to some of their screenshot application items (Finder/MacIntosh HD/Applications), I have an empty space where, I assume, application folders where. I have a blank spot (Sorted by Name) after the Address Book (which I think was the AppleScript folder), a blank sport after the DVD Player (which I think was Expose), and a couple others. Where did my application icons go! I still have the Expose feature if I use the mouse, but I'm curious as to why they no longer appear in the folder. Can I, without much trouble, reload all applications from my Snow Leopard upgrade disk? If so, how? My iMac is an early 2009, 24" w/ 2.66Ghz processor.

Pressing Option+D
Resetting VPROT.
However I thought I had some Joy with Option+R. It gets to the Internet recovery stream but then won't connect to any network. I have no Bootable version of MacOSX and can't create a copy on USB because the only other computer I have is a PC.Specs: Macbook Air (2011), 2GB Ram, 64GB SSD, i5 Processor, Mac OS X Lion.

Mar 31, 2012I got my mail accounts set-up on Mail 5.2 and it's working properly in that I can send and receive mail from three different IMAP accounts. The only problem is that sent mail items are not showing up when I login online to access my mail. I would like everything on my desktop mail account to be exactly the same as what I see online as far as read messages, unread messages and of course, the sent items that I have sent should be logged on the original mail account as well as on my computer.
I have already enabled "store sent messages on the server."

Aug 28, 2014In Mavericks, I transferred all of my books from iTunes to iBooks (File > Move Books from iTunes). However, none of the books appear in my bookshelf/library when viewing in iBooks. I tried buying a new book while in iTunes, it downloaded, but it does not appear in my library either. These books are accessible in iBooks via a search but cannot be seen in the library.

It appears in time machine fine when the external drive is plugged in, but just not if it's been ejected or
I want to have the ext drive backed up in case I lose it or it corrupts....and if that happens I won't be able to plug it in to see the drive in TM - does that make sense?
I am running OSX 10.9.3 on a Mid 2010 Mac Book Pro. The external drive is a samsung and is formatted to Mac OS Extended (journaled). Time Machine is a standard Apple one and has been working fine for a couple of years

Dec 4, 2014I use Google 2-step verification. With my upgrade to Yosemite, all my text messages that previously only went to my iPhone now also appear on my Macbook Pro. In general that's fine, but it's a big security problem. If anyone gets my computer then they immediately have access to all my 2-step codes because the codes will be sent to my Macbook in addition to my phone. Previously I only had to worry about one device (my phone) and but now there is a big problem with my computer falling into the wrong hands.
Is this an attempt by Apple to stop people from using Google 2-step verification?

Jun 5, 2014I have a hard drive on my 2008 MacPro that's problematic and so I bought a new drive and installed Mavericks on it and am booting just fine on the new drive. There is however, one folder in the Library/Preferences folder that I need to copy over to the new drive. All the tricks for accessing the Library folder work great on the start up drive, but I can't seem to access the Library folder on the old drive (both drives in the MacPro as it has 4 drive bays), even though the drive will mount. How can I see that Library folder on the old drive? Note while I can mount the old drive, I can't boot to it.

Nov 18, 2010Running mail with 2 email accounts, one old one that I could still receive emails from but not send any; the other is the main email that I use. I deleted the old account then could not send any emails. I spoke to my ISP and have fixed the sending problem, but now I seem to have lost a heap of emails, possibly all the ones that had been sent to the old account but also a long one that my wife had just written that was in drafts as it was unable to send. Essentially we want to recover the emails we received, and the one that was in drafts.
