OS X Mavericks :: Mail App Has Deleted Emails?

Aug 25, 2014

I opened up mail today to find that my entire inbox has been totally wiped. This is quite inconvenient for many reasons, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I still have the emails in my outbox, sent and drafts folder, but there is nothing to be found in my inbox. It doesn't appear as if my emails are in the trash anywhere either.I'm with telus, for what it's worth, and I'm running 10.9.2.

OS X Mavericks :: Mail Being Deleted When Preferences Are Set

Jun 27, 2014

I run a late-2013 27-inch iMac with with OSX10.9.3. Although all my Mail preferences are set to 'never delete', periodically my entire Inbox and Sent folders get completely emptied out, every email deleted. The many emails I have in folders are untouched. I need to refer often to my sent mail and this is causing large problems as you'd imagine - as is losing my Inbox contents before I've dealt with them all.

IMac :: 20 And 24 Native Resolution On The 9400m?

Sep 10, 2009

Which will perform better on wow or any game, an imac 20inch or 24inch with the same spec of 2.66ghz 9400m 4gb memory?

They're both are almost identical but the native resolutions are different.I'm comparing a 20inch imac resolution 1680by1050 to a 24inch 1920by1200.

So I'm guessing the 9400m will do better on a 20inch imac right?

Since the 9400m is not all that powerful so I'm guessing it can't do well on the 1920by1200 when gaming ?

IMac :: To Play Games On Native Resolution?

Apr 13, 2010

I was waiting to buy a new Macbook Pro but as soon as they were released today I said "meh" and decided maybe I should buy a brand new iMac and keep my Early 08 MBP. I want to get a new Mac in preparation for the upcoming launch of Steam on OS X and just because mine is long in the tooth for Windows gaming.

Anyways... I just had a thought and was wondering if any owners could clear it up. The resolution on the 27 i7 Quad Core seems ENORMOUS for a middle-grade ATI GPU. Are you able to game on high settings for semi-modern games like L4D2, TF2, etc. at the 27"'s native resolution? What are your thoughts on it as a gaming machine. It seems like the 27" will obsolete itself quicker than a i5/i7 21 inch (if one ever comes out) due to the screen resolution size.

IMac :: Running A Game Outside Of The 24" Native Resolution?

Jul 7, 2008

I'm a hardcore gamer that is a stickler for quality, and CRT is still the gold standard when it comes to a perfect image (not to mention the ability to run many resolutions without any quality degradation), but LCDs have come a long way. I'm likely making the switch to Mac (using Boot Camp for the few PC games I play, I mostly play consoles).

The iMac is the best fit for me but I'm concerned, when new games come out that exceed your system's specs you generally turn down the resolution to procure a quality image with a decent frame rate. 1920x1200 is a very high resolution with a lot of pixels, how much worse does the image get when turning the resolution down? Since it won't be at its native resolution I've heard that lowers image quality, but I have no personal experience since I've never used an LCD.

OS X Mavericks :: Deleted App From Dock

Jun 5, 2014

Yesterday, while mousing around my iMac desktop, I accidentally deleted an app from my dock. It disappeared before I could see which app it was.  TimeMachine, or any other way -- for me to determine which app I deleted? I looked at a TimeMachine backup, but couldn't find any way to view the dock in the backup.

OS X Mavericks :: How To Restore Deleted (Previous Recipient List)

Aug 29, 2014

I have my own, private, Macbook Air which is not used by my spouse. As a result, I have only configured my own e-mail accounts on this machine. It runs OSX 10.9.4.

We also have a family-used iPad, which is shared between multiple family members, including my spouse. It has multiple e-mail accounts configured, including mine and hers. None of us uses iCloud mail, just mail from external providers.

My wife is used to the auto-fill in Mail on the iPad : Any recipient from the past is used to autocomplete. As a result, she never built an address book since typing most of the names or first characters of her contacts resulted in completing the full e-mail address. The iPad does have an iCloud-based address book configured, which only contains my personal contacts. This iCloud account is also configured on my MBA.

During the past weeks I've put a lot of effort in cleaning up my Contacts, since they were swamped with outdated e-mail addresses. I also deleted the complete Previous Recipient list via Window/Previous Recipients, since outdated e-mail addresses were being suggested while they were removed out of my Contacts during clean up. I cleaned up the previous recipients list, assuming that applies only to the local Mail installation. But it does not.

Since the iCloud based contacts are shared between mail clients, the Previous Recipients list is as well, which was a nasty surprise. Apparently my wife can no longer experience any of her contacts being auto-completed on the iPad or other Macs in our house. This is a big issue (marital crisis) and I want to restore the previous recipients list. In the pre-iCloud days this was possible by restoring the correct file via Time Machine (which I use). But in the current iCloud days, the previous recipients list is, as far as I know, completely in the cloud. There is no (known) way for me to revert to a previous version.

How to restore the iCloud-based previous recipient list? can I restore a local copy that overwrites/syncs correctly with the cloud-based copy?

OS X :: Setting Up Mail - Deleted From Account

Jan 13, 2011

trying to set up mail for the first time. Let me set the situation so you can help understand what I'm working with. My terms are probably really bad, not very tech sauvy so I apoligize. 4 email accounts -gmail, buckeyemail and fisher email which are outlook based, and then a kent state email which I dont know what it is. -Blackberry that I use to read emails on but it never deletes anything from the web based servors. -I dont like deleting emails off the actual servers they go to first, like my gmail is currently 9000 messages deep. My problem is when I delete them off my computer, it also deletes them off where I check my email web based, I don't want that to happen. Also, I don't want a folder full of messages. I Just want things I decide to keep and everything else to be swiped from the computer, I really dont know how much space these emails take up.

OS X :: Recover Deleted Mailbox In Mail.app?

Oct 25, 2007

I did something really stupid... I have been accessing my GMail account using POP access and Apple Mail.app. I switched over to IMAP online, went into Mail.app Preferences, deleted my POP account and was about to re-add it as an IMAP account when I noticed that the e-mails in my inbox were deleted when I deleted my POP account. I checked ~/Library/Mail and the folder was in fact deleted. Is there anyway to recover that folder? Not all of the e-mails are still on GMail's web interface.

So, is it still possible to recover those deleted files?

No, I do not have time machine.

Software :: How To Get Back Deleted Mac Mail

Jul 10, 2009

Is there any possible way to get it back? I was trying to change the names of folders, from lower case to upper case, and I got a message telling me that I couldn't do that, because there was already a folder like that.

I saw an extra folder, and clicked on it, but there appeared to be nothing in it, so I chose Delete from the menu. Only to find out it was the real folder with many other folders inside.

I'm using Mac Mail, OS X 10.4.11 -- I did NOT choose Erase Deleted Messages from the menu yet . Is there still hope to recover all those deleted messages.

I need to get that e-mail back somehow.
