I want to be able to create a calendar event by either typing a name and getting a dropdown list from Contacts, or by clicking on a contact and getting the option to create an event. Phone numbers and addresses would then be available in the calendar instead of having to separately looking up the contact info.
I am needing a playlist to populate, given that the comments field is blank and Im struggling to work out how to do it? Ive been making smart playlists to meet different criterias for a while now but this one im struggling on!
I've noticed lately in OS X Messages (currently in version 8.0 (4226)) that my own avatar is displayed in contact list for other contacts..It happens in XMPP account.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I have a contact for my mom which used to be her first name and last name which I later changed to just "Mom" in the first name box after getting an iPhone. At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years. Every time I send her an email it changes her name from just Mom to Mom and then adds her last name back into the last name field.
I have about 2,000 contacts in my Mac Address Book. For a few immediate family members I've manually added pictures. However, there are a handful of other address book records that have pictures that I am 100% sure I've not added myself (I would have had no way to have these photos from these particular people!).Â
How on earth does the address book gather those pictures? Are they somehow linked to the person (via GMail maybe as the few I've noticed all have GMail accounts)? Will they update if the person updates their picture?Â
And, since I have my picture on my address card, who else sees it?Â
I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address. For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to john@server.example.com works.
But sending mail to john@example.com (which is what I want) returns an error: 554 554 5.7.1 <john@example.com>: Relay access denied (state 13).
For internal DNS, I have: example.com - primary zonemail.expample.com - alias server.example.comserver.example.com - 192.168.1.2 [URL] - alias server.example.com MX record [URL]
I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.
I've recently migrated to Lion and am finding the new layout of Mail frustrating as it shows my mail by the recipient rather than the sender. As the recipient is usually me, I have what appears to be a inbox of emails to myself but I have to open each email (or preview it) to reveal who actually sent it to me. Is there a way to have the sender (From field) showing in the list rather than the To field?
I need to have them sorted by Date so that the most recent messages are at the top. But when I choose View > Message Attributes the option to select "From" is already ticked but it is also greyed out. I have temporarily fixed this by using the classic view but I would really like to know how to do this in the new view?
I found my contact list from my mac mail highjacked 2 weeks ago. My router was not secured then but it is now. What should I do for preventing my contact to receive some bad intentioned emails from whoever did that?
A friend used my Mac a month ago and his email address often comes up in my FROM: email field. I am the default but I must hit it every once in a while and his email address is selected. When my recipient gets my message it's says it's from HIM. How can I delete his name so it isn't a choice in the FROM: email field? I looked in Mail preferences and his email address is NOT listen next to mine under Preferences>Accounts.
Please not this isn't happening in the TO: field. For that I'd just choose WINDOW>Previous Recipients>Delete.
Say I'm viewing the contents of a folder containing a 1,000 files in list mode. I can "page" through the list and all the items scroll but the selected item doesn't change. I have to "mouse" to the item I want when it comes into view.
I've been using Adium for the past month or so for IM, and as of the past couple of days, no matter what I do, I can not make the contact list visible. I've tried deactivating and reactivating it via the Window menu, I've tried changing the settings on when it's supposed to appear, and I've even tried reinstalling the application once, but nothing is working. Does anybody have an idea how to fix this, or should I just stick with iChat for now?
I'm completely new to Mac so I'm a little bit unsure about a few things... How do I change the size of my contact list font? I can't seem to find it? I'd like to have a bigger font but I can't find out where to adjust it (I know how to adjust the in-conversation font)
I've just been getting into Adium today for the first time and been customising everything but theres 2 things I can't figure out. I've been on Google for the past hour and I still can't find what I'm after.
First off can you hide the menu bar on your contact list? It looks horrible with some themes.
Secondly can you remove the service icons from your contact list? I hate having loads of MSN logos going down my desktop.
If anyone could help me on either of issues i will love you forever.
I migrated my contact list from Microsoft Outlook via a CSV file. Everything went fine but for some reason I got a lot of weird characters in the notes section of every contact. Is there a way I can use automator to delete all the entries on the notes field of my Address Book?
When I try to delete duplicate names and addresses from my Skype contact list I get the message that this has to be done by deleting these names from my Mac contact list. How is this done?
This is probably a stupid question, but why isn't there an address contact button that you can click on in a new message from MAIL? Am I missing something here? In all previous versions of the OS one could just do that and a list of contacts popped up and then you could click on one and it would go to the "To" slot. There's got to be an easier way than to open the contact book, find an address, copy it, then place it in the message "To" slot.
