Maybe I'm missing something...
Say I'm viewing the contents of a folder containing a 1,000 files in list mode. I can "page" through the list and all the items scroll but the selected item doesn't change. I have to "mouse" to the item I want when it comes into view.
Is this by design?
After performing a Time Machine restoration, the "Places" list in the Finder sidebar contains a folder icon that can not be selected or deleted. It does not appear on the list of places to show in Finder Preferences, so there is nothing to uncheck. How do I get rid of this erroneous icon?

I was wondering does anyone know how I can use my right hand cmd button as a shortcut key for move focus to the dock. Someone did it for me, but I cannot seem to do it by going through system preferences and to keyboard shortcuts.
I've been looking around for quite some time and cannot find a solution for my annoying problem: I cannot keep the 'Tab to move keyboard focus between: All controls' to stick. I am able to change the keyboard setting so that the Tab key changes keyboard focus through settings -> keyboard -> keyboard shortcuts -> full keyboard access and the simple control+F7 until I log out, reboot or power cycle.
I have reset all of my keyboard settings to default and I have gone so far as to create a new user with admin priviledges but the problem persists.
I am looking for a contextual menu item for Mac OS X, which allows me to create hardlink(s) for the currently selected file(s) either "here" (at the current directory) or "elsewhere" (filebrowser follows for selecting a target directory).
So far my research within general Web Search Engines (Google, Yahoo) and Software Repositories [URL]) with all possible permutations of my search terms "hard link hardlink contextual menu item cm" was without success.
I have an external drive that's not showing me all sizes when selected in the list view options.
Anyone know why this is happening?
When selecting an address from the contact list to populate the address field in an email, the field will not populate automatically.

I am working on a project in Aperture. I want to move a select group of photos from iPhoto into Aperture 3.5.1. I know how to open these images in Aperture by switching libraries but I can't figure out how to actually move these photos into the Aperture project. Most posts I found are based on Aperture 3.3 which is slightly different.

My problem is that I can't drag a file to the trash. When I try to delete a file by right-clicking and choose "move to trash" I get a message telling me that the item will be deleted permanently and that I cannot undo this action. In other words it is possible to delete a file permanently, but I would like to have the option to move them to the trash first. I have recently tried to partition the internal hard-drive using Boot Camp, however unsuccessfully. I don't know if the two are related. I have Macbook 13,3" early 2010 with the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.4.

The pop-up message says the item is currently being used by another task, even though I have tried closing all applications, restarting, checking my startup to make sure nothing activates. I think these were downloads that were in progress when Internet Explorer crashed, but they are not in the download manager anymore either. How can I delete these desktop items?

I have a Imac 27" - suddenly it seems it freeze - I can move the cusor with the pad - but clicking dosn't activate the function. I have tried to restart (power off) but still the same. I succeded once to get i alive for 15 min. then it stopped working again. The Imac 27 is opdated and less than one year old.

I've uninstalled appdelete as I now use cleanapp. Anyway, I have uninstalled it but the contextual menu is still present. I have tried looking at the services and libraries but cannot locate the specific item needed to be deleted to remove the appdelete contextual menu item.

When I search for it manually, it says Accept, I click on that and then get an error message stating that it's already in Purchases list, but it isn't there.
I've restarted my MacBook Pro several times but iPhoto just doesn't show up in Purchases list.

I've read a few results on google and here on MacRumors, but all of them are old and point to systems running about 1GB or 2GB. I have 4GB, I have disabled Paging in Vista and it runs fine, plus it saves my SSD from killing itself.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 17" 2.93 UMBP w/ 8GB RAM. I have two X25-Es as boot drives and use an external 1TB Caviar Black as my home folder. I rum virtual machine from the external.
My question is this: is it abnormal for a machine with 8GB of OWC RAM to page out (right now at 2:02 after boot page outs are at 421.5 MB). Usage is moderate (Safari, iTunes and a Parallels VM with 512 MB virtual RAM assigned). I'm thinking my RAM is either crap or defective any constructive.
Is it possible to move an item from the "More" section of the Contextual Menu up to the main section? In the attached screen shot you can see an item "Snag Path Unix" at the very bottom. I use this function about 100 times a day and it is very inconvenient that I have to go through a submenu for that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying problem with application switching since I have upgraded to Mac OS Lion from Snow Leopard.Now switching between applications doesn't work as good as it was in Snow Leopard.
Right now I have Finder and Xcode opened. Xcode is assigned to only one specific Desktop and Finder is assigned to None. And when I am in Xcode for example and use Cmd-Tab to switch to Finder, it deactivates my current window, but doesn't move to the space with Finder or makes Finder active. Then, I press Cmd-Tab again, and it makes Finder active (My top panel controls show Finder now) but I still stay in the space with Xcode. And further switching doesn't do anything. So I then need to manually to click on the Finder icon in the Dock. And the same is vice versa when switching from Finder to Xcode.
If I switch by clicking the Finder Dock icon it then works in two steps: first time it deactivates current window, and after second click it moves to Finder Desktop and makes Finder active.
Another issue is with Safari when I am in Fullscreen mode and have also Activity window opened. If I am in Finder and switch with Cmd-Tab to Safari, it just shows me the Activity window in the same Desktop no matter how many times I Cmd-Tab. To switch to Main Safari window I need to click on the Dock icon.If I switch only by clicking the Dock icon, then I again need to click it twice.
Option for moving to space with selected application in Preference Pane is switched on and Automatically rearrangement of last used applications as well.
