so my mail decided that it would be really annoying, and tell me that their was no internet connection. After multiple restarts, and a couple force quits, i cannot seem to fix the problem. I have tried turning SSL off also. It should be noted, as well, that my iPhone gets my mail just fine, so it is not the webmail service's (.mac) problem.

Can even check email with Mail, but no pictures in the emails. Safari just keeps loading with no results. Can't access internet with anything. Ran disk repair. Even turned off firewall. Not my router, my Macbook is working fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright, I'm wondering what makes my internet go slow when my dad is uploading something or sending an e-mail.According to Speedtest.net I have a download speed of 2.1MB/s and upload of 0.03MB/s (megabytes not megabits).I just did a test while dad was uploading and got very similar results if not the same, except it said my ping was 4302 ms, compared to 26 ms I got from re-running the test after the upload was finished. I'm pretty sure the server was the same, I think I would have noticed if it wasn't.Does anyone know why it goes slow, I don't really understand it, although I imagine it has something to do with the high ping but I don't understand why or how it effects it.

I got a very weird problem. When I connect my computer (Macbook, Mac OS X Leopard) via cable to the router all my applications work with no problem. I can browse the internet, visit the itunes store, receive mail, get updates on my dashboard.
But when I am connected to the internet via wifi (on the same router) I can still browse the internet while all other apps cannot connect to the internet. Itunes says it cannot connect, mail says it cannot retrieve any mail etc.
I have tried on a different router at a friends house. Same thing. Everything works via cable but wirelessly only the browser works and nothing else.
I am staying in an RV park and there is WIFI available. To connect to the WIFI you need to agree to a splash screen. The WIFI connects and I can access the internet. Safari can access web pages including iCloud to view and send mail.
The mail program can not send or receive mail through my iCloud account. When I bring up connection doctor it says it has an internet connection but can not connect to the servers. The iCloud account is online. This problem has occured with other park wifi connections.
If I logoff the parks wifi and connect to my iPhone hotspot the mail program works and can send and receive mail.Â

I've been having lots of issues with my iMac in the past week.Mail doesn't seem to be working correctly. I'll find messages that are many hours late. Messages that I see on my phone are not up to date on my iMac.We pages are showing up as script, no content, no pictures. Facebook shows up with no pictures.Memory isn't an issue and I've checked the internet connection and mail settings. I am also up to date with apple updates.

Running 10.9.3 and having an issues with gmail. Been running our business and personal gmail thru Apple mail for years and never had a issue. We have also just switch over to Comcast High Speed business for internet. The issue is this.....first thing in the morning start up the computer and open up mail. The app runs but no new mail comes in. I check my iphone and I'll have 6-7 new emails. I'll hit "Get Mail" a few times and still nothing happens. Now the strange part. If I send and email to anyone within 2-3 seconds I'll get all of my new emails. For the rest of the day its seems like mail is hanging up "Somewhere". The same thing is happening on 2-3 other macs in my company which are set up the same way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook a little over a year old. It's my first mac and I love it. Yesterday though it started acting really weird. I first noticed that it was really, really hot and the fan was running. I turned it off and back on and here's what I found out:
Applications are being deleted from macbook. ITunes, IPhoto, iChat have clear question marks over icon. There are 8-10 blank spaces in the Applications folder where applications have been deleted. However, data is still there (ex. pictures still there, but no iPhoto).
Internet= Says I have internet but wont connect.
Cannot open " System Preferences" or "Internet Preferences".
If connected to home computer will connect to internet and allowed to open internet preferences but still no system preferences.
If shut down....takes a while to come back on and starts up 2-3 times.
Also "Preview" is gone. Now " ColorSync Utility" opens.
Is this my hard drive dying? I'm tech challenged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook Pro was working fine when suddenly Safari froze, so I forced quit. After opening Safari again, the page just stayed white and wouldn't load. None of my other programs requiring internet are working either (ie. AIM, Skype), even though my internet connection is listed as connected and other devices using Wifi are working perfectly. Could this be some sort of virus?

I have a macbook pro and have recently noticed that when initially loading any of, google chrome, firefox or safari it takes a very long time for the internet to load the webpages.
It says that there is a full wireless connection but will not load the webpage.
Once the webpage has finally loaded after about a minute, subsequent browsing is as fast as can be expected upon my broadband connection, loading pages in <1s.
However the problem reappears whenever I open a new window, or anything else that might use the internet such as the app store, itunes or apple software update.Â

For specific reasons, I needed to connect my Synology DS211 NAS to my iMac directly via its ethernet port. I discovered that if I share my wireless internet connection (coming from my cable modem/wireless router) from wireless to ethernet, then the NAS would get the IP stuff it needed to show up. did that, voila, NAS is acting like a glorified external hard drive. BUT, when I did that, I lost all internet connectivity on my iMac. Still have full wireless signal. preferences pane says I'm fully connected to my network with an IP address, but safari always fails to pull up any webpages, saying I'm not connected to the internet.As soon as turn off the ethernet PORT, it all starts working again. And to make it even crazier, I discovered that if I leave sharing my wireless internet via my ethernet port ON, but turn off the ethernet port (in pref pane), I can STILL access the NAS just like before. That makes no sense - I'm sharing my internet via a port I have turned off, but it works? Anyway, why would Iose my airport wireless internet connection when the ethernet port is on - configured manually?

currently I connect to the internet by doing this: Go to System Preferences / Network. Then I select my internet provider name on the left pane and finally click on the Connect button. That's all. This internet profile has a PPoE service name, an account name and a password. My internet connection uses a cable DLink router (it's not wireless).Â

1) Does the password I mentioned above mean that my neighbors can't access my internet, or are they able to do that and, in this case, I need to set another password somewhere else?Â

I'm not sure whether this version doesn't support airport (ubuntu v10.04.1) or I need the snow leopard drivers (but I can't because it's a .exe file).

I'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
For the last week I find that after sending an email with attachments that it remains in my draft box after sending. The mail shows up in the sent box, but it never get's deleted from the draft box until I resend it. This is happening on both my MBP and iMac. Both machines connect to iCloud for mail.

What I'm trying to do is set up the apple tvs to be connected to a router that is not connected to the internet, which we'll call Router B.The Mac Mini has all the movies and TV Shows on the iTunes account is hardlined into another router that is connected to the internet, which we'll call Router A.Is it possible to have the Mac Mini hardlined into Router A (to have an internet connection) and simultaneously connected wirelessly to Router B (so the AppleTVs can pull from the Mac Mini iTunes.)?Or vice versa, hardlined into Router B (non internet connection) and Wireless to Router A (internet connection).

I am running Lion (latest ver) on my iMac (2011, i7), and have icloud set up to sync mail (and other stuff) with my iPhone 4. My iCloud account Sent Mail and Drafts are being syncronized between the cloud the iPhone, but not the iMac. So for example, I see 2 items in my Drafts folder when I log into icloud.com, and I see them in the drafts folder on iPhone mail, but they do not appear in the drafts folder for my iCloud account on Mail.app on the iMac. Also, I don't see emails I sent from icloud.com on my Mac's mail. I have iCloud enabled on the mac, and mail syncing is specifically turned on. Â

I have a Macbook Pro. It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. It will pop up and say mail quit unexpectedly will show that report and reopen box. hen mail is open and the circle is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
My husband's computers use Tiger and Leopard (10.5.8) to access his email on the Mail program. His mail is from Comcast and uses the Comcast server, not apple or iCloud. His mail suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago.....as it did on one of my machines that still uses Tiger. He had not done any updates that could have broken the software. He does not have iCloud except on his phone and he doesn't even have a .mac address. There is no reason for the comcast server to not be able to be accessed by Mail app. He did finally update everything that needed it and it still does not work. Why would Apple's change over to iCloud break email access from other servers and how can we fix it. He really doesn't want to do his mail on Comcast's web site as it's slow and awkward.Â

today i found that Mail has stopped working for no obvious reason.It wont send or receive emails, but when i check by signing into .mac itself, the messages have arrived and everything appears normal.Mail won't quit either... then every so often a box with the following text appears:'Some actions taken while the account 'enter.mac address here' was offline could not be completed online.Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox "on my mac" in "on my mac" so that you can complete the actions while online.Additional information: The connection to the server "mail.mac.com" on port 143 timed out.

I know that in Windows you can use Outlook to receive/request a return receipt when the receiver opens the e-mail. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).
