OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Mail Has Internet Connectivity But Cannot Connect To Servers?

I am staying in an RV park and there is WIFI available. To connect to the WIFI you need to agree to a splash screen. The WIFI connects and I can access the internet. Safari can access web pages including iCloud to view and send mail.
The mail program can not send or receive mail through my iCloud account. When I bring up connection doctor it says it has an internet connection but can not connect to the servers. The iCloud account is online. This problem has occured with other park wifi connections.
If I logoff the parks wifi and connect to my iPhone hotspot the mail program works and can send and receive mail.Â

Why have the Mail servers seem to have forgotten my password, when iCloud and Apple servers have not?Username and password are the same for all). Why,when Apple had a much better system than Windows, does Apple tyr to be more and more like Windows: more complicated and less useful?

I have my Gmail account set up for IMAP, and use it in Mail. However, as of this morning, Mail can't connect to either the IMAP server or the SMTP server. Whenever I try to connect to the IMAP server, it gives me the following error:
"The server '[URL]' refused to allow a connection on port 993."
I've checked repeatedly and all of my settings are as the Gmail website says they should be. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?
My husband's computers use Tiger and Leopard (10.5.8) to access his email on the Mail program. His mail is from Comcast and uses the Comcast server, not apple or iCloud. His mail suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago.....as it did on one of my machines that still uses Tiger. He had not done any updates that could have broken the software. He does not have iCloud except on his phone and he doesn't even have a .mac address. There is no reason for the comcast server to not be able to be accessed by Mail app. He did finally update everything that needed it and it still does not work. Why would Apple's change over to iCloud break email access from other servers and how can we fix it. He really doesn't want to do his mail on Comcast's web site as it's slow and awkward.Â
I have recently migrated to a macbook pro and have had no issues with mail for two weeks, until today. I have a new problem today with mail outgoing servers being "offline" without a way to turn them online. I did a software update yesterday and I may have gotten an OSX upgrade but did not notice. Does anyone know if there is an issue with 10.6.8?Â
While connected to VPN I am receiving the error "There was a problem connecting to the server "servername". This happens on any server (Windows 2008) in my company. I am able to connect to those same servers using Virtualbox running XP from the same machine. I am able to connect to those same servers while in the office no problem. I am using the Cisco IPSec client within Lion.I have tried both CIFS and SMB.Â
i recently i have tried to downgrade my iphone 5.1 to 4.3.3 coz mic was not working. so i tried to follow all the process from redmondpie.com. but i failed somewhere n now dont want to downgrade. when i tried to restore in factory setting now it says cannot connect to the apple software updates. i didnt edited the host files coz the are locked. i just made one duplicate file and delete it.
I have a MacBook Pro 2008 with the latest version of Leopard, and I have five accounts on this computer. Two of the accounts will not connect to any server in the world. Here's a description of both accounts:
Account 1: Not an administrator.Parental Controls is currently off, but it was on during first sightings of this problem, but with no restrictions as to internet usage.
Account 2: Not an administrator.Parental Controls is currently on, and the only website allowed is /[url]..The National Weather Service.
I am starting a new thread. I was having connectivity to the internet issues earlier. I have an IPAD an IMAC and a PC. I had to unplug my router to move it. Now it seems that I can only get internet access on one device. Earlier in the day my PC internet worked and the IPAD and IMAC did not. After shutting down my PC the IMAC began to work. Is there a setting somewhere for multiple devices?
I recently had to uplug my modem and router. When I reconnected them here is what I am experiencing. My PC desktop computer found the network and is wokring fine, has internet access. My IMAC and IPAD can see the network but canot access the internet. I have reset the router and moden numerous times.
I must admit that this posting is a last resort. However, remarkably, on narrowing the problem it seems it has to do with an unknown default setting on my Mac OS X Leopard on both my MacBook and iMac.
This week I invested in two new Wireless-N routers - Belkin and D-Link - and both fail to perform. The problem manifests itself as follows:
- When my Apple is wirelessly connected to the router, it takes a very long time to pull up any website. And unless I am imagining things, it seems to first pause when the blue progress indicator reaches just beyond "[URL]" each time. It is slow loading beyond this initial pause as well.
- When I change my security from WPA2 to WEP to None, it makes no difference whatsoever.
- When my Apple is connected to the router via ethernet, it performs very well. Each website appears very quickly and as expected i.e. no wireless connection.
- Very surprisingly, when I am using Windows via Boot Camp on my iMac, it performs very well when *wirelessly* connected. This threw me a little. This is what led me to suspect there's a default configuration with my Mac OS X that is causing the problem.
- In light of the above point, I have not yet checked to see whether wireless frequency or channel affect the download speed.
- For 2.5 years I had been using a Netgear Wireless-G router without any problem.
Might anyone know what the problem is? Or at the very least how better to diagnose it?
I have windows xp sp3 and while playing my game, the internet keeps disconnecting about every 5 minutes. Then a bubble comes up and says, "Limited or no connectivity" and I have no internet. So I have to disconnect and connect again to get another 5 minutes before it does it again. The modem I have is this: Verizon GT704WG Wireless DSL Modem/Router To narrow the problem down I went to another house with another wireless and it worked without any problem there.
When I set my iMac to sleep I lose my internet connectivity when opening up again. If I restart all is OK. This problem also affects my MB Pro as well, on OS X lion.

I've been having a weird issue for a few days, my computer is connected to the internet and I am able to login a messenger and use spotify and other programs that run through wifi but for some reason none of my internet browsers open any page.
There's something wrong with the Wifi connectivity on my Macbook Pro. Every few minutes, I lose connection to the internet even though it says I'm still connected to my network. I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on for it to start working again. It only works for a few minutes and sometimes hours, but then I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on agian. It only happens on my MacBook.
I can't connect to the internet on my mac for some reason. It comes up with a message saying the following- to view this page you must log in to this area on [URL]. Then it says i need to log in? Some people have tried to get me to delete some file but when I go to User- Library etc I am told to delete a google extension from searching the problem on Google. This doesnt work.
I have wireless network run via BT hub. However because of ongoing connectivity issues connect the main machine via the ethernet. I no longer use my Airport extreme. Since I first bought this machine I have had connectivity issues. At first thought it was BT & while initially it was I can now isolate the issues to this specific machine. I find that in the morning the connection has gone down & the only way to get it back is to restart everything. I can however get connected through all my other devices.Â
I am using Lion & safari or chrome or firefox! Have regular clearences of my cache.I have to box up the machine & trundle to my nearest Apple store (my 90 days home support is expired).
Imac and iphone lost internet connectivity via Linksys wireless router. Ehternet works fine. Keep getting note about "self-assigned" ip. Ideas? I have tried everything I have found and read.
This application launches automatically from System/Library/Core Services, and generates an outgoing connection to the internet. What is the purpose of the internet connection and should I allow it? It is initiated without me using finder.
I use mac mail for my mac account and exchange. In preferences for smtp server I have set "only use this server" for each account, ie mac account sent emails end up in mac sent mail box and exchange sent emails end up in exchange sent items box.
The problem now is that despite the fact that I select an account to send a mail, lets say my exchange account, Mail does not send the mail and return a dialog box where I have to select the exchange smtp server manually. This also happens when I send a mac mail, then I have to choose the mac smtp server to send the mail out.
This is highly annoying because your work gets interrupted by this popping up "cannot send mail using the server Mac" messages! Only after selecting the server the message is sent. If I uncheck 'only use this server' then all mails are sent but with the mac server! So my exchange sent items box remains empty.
Other macs on my network have no trouble connecting, just the macbook pro, so it's not the router or ISP. This laptop previously had no trouble connecting to the internet on this network. It continually says ISP failed (airport, airport status and network settings are all green). Laptop running 10.6.8. I tried turning Configure IPv6 off, no change.Â

My Mac Mini Server with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server doesn't connect to the Internet.It can connect to the router either via Ethernet or Airport, but it can not get an IP address -- it always assigns itself a random IP address which is not in the correct range for the router.All other devices, including PC, iPhone and iPad can work correctly with the router. When I manually typed in the router's IP in Safari, 192.168.0.1, I can see the router admin page. But typing in any external IP nothing shows up.Thinking it might be the router's problem, I used iPhone 4S' tethering tried wifi, USB, Bluetooth tethering and the Mac Mini still doesn't have any Internet connection.I changed the DNS in the Network preferences, trying Google's public DNS 8.8.8.8, my ISP's DNS, and empty DNS.
I don't know what happened, but a connection that I use frequently has suddenly stopped working on my 4-year-old MacBook (10.5.8). I have tried some of the fixes suggested for wireless connection problems, but none have worked. I live in a place where wireless is not always a viable option, so I need my Ethernet connection...
About 4 days ago, MS Entourage stopped receiving email and sending emails. In fact I can't even delete old email because I keep getting a message that Entourage can't contact the Mac mail servers. I have not changed any mail settings or my password. I swithed over to Mac Mail and was able to received and send messages for about a day and now this program just freezes up when I attempt to use it. Since this problem cropped up I have been able to go to icloud to retrieve and send email. I would like to use the email programs on my MacBook. Is Apple having a problem with their mail servers or this an icloud sync problem with my desktop email programs?
I cant use mail on my MacBook as the accounts won't go on line. I guess this is because my me.com account has been migrated to iCloud and I don't have a new enough computer. Is there a way of getting it to work or do I have to go through all the bother of telling all my work contacts to use another address. Although I can use the iphone mail fine that isn't really on.
I have 3 mailboxes in "Mail." It suddently started showing spinning circles by all of them, and I am getting "reports" from each of them that they can't connect with the server (timed out.) I can got to the websites and see the mail Ok, however. How can I fix this? I've tried to delete all of the mailboxes, but they stil show on the mailbox list.Â
