MacBook :: Firewire And Movie Maker Software ?
Jun 10, 2009So Apple is adding the Firewire port to their 13" unibody Macbook "PRO" line.
As an incoming new apple user, what do you recommend for software to capture, burn ect on Macs?
I am really only used to Pinnacle, MS Movie Maker on PC's, so looking for a comparable product...

He's been using Family Tree Maker which is peecee only. I've read that Reunion is a good mac alternative, but will he be able to transfer his data from FTM to Reunion? What if anything would he lose?

Dreamerweaver is too complex, I do not have time to all those staff, iweb is ok but just not enough to make a custom work.

Applications :: Reunion 9 Versus Family Tree Maker
Dec 23, 2007I have a Mac and PC. I've been working on my family tree using the ever-so-popular Family Tree Maker. As a gift this year, someone gave me a copy of Reunion 9 for Mac. Knowing that I'm picky tho they also gave me a gift receipt. Should I bother opening it? Is it that much better/different from Family Tree Maker? I'm "guessing" since they both import/export GED, moving the data between the two is not difficult. Is there something one does better than the other? I'm not all together too pleased with the sample web-output of either of them (so far) but some guidance as to which is easier to work with and generally looks the nicest would be nice. Anyone use both have a firm positive/negative to say about either? Other than Reunion being on my mac instead of my pc, is there anything worthwhile it brings to the table?

The print to pdf function is great, but I've noticed that for longer documents it divides the file into 3 separate sections/documents. This is annoying.
Is there anyway around this within the operating system, or is there other software like "cute pdf writer" for the mac . It seems that "cute" was only written for PCs since Macs tend to not need it.

ITunes For Mac :: Open Downloaded Ringtone Maker App?
Sep 5, 2014I downloaded the free Ringtone maker in iTunes. It shows up under Apps in my iTunes page, but there is no option to open it. I've tried double-clicking but nothing happens. I have also tried right-clicking, but this only gives me the following options: Get info (just leads back to app description in app store), Show in Finder, Show in iTunes store, and Delete.

Apr 14, 2010Intel, the maker of processors for Apple's entire line of Mac computers, reported record earnings this week, with its strongest first quarter in the company's history fueled by demand for new microprocessors.Intel reported first-quarter revenue of $10.3 billion, with an operating income of $3.4 billion, net income of $2.4 billion, and earnings per share at 43 cents. Officials said it was the company's best first quarter since 1968, and CEO Paul Otellini said the industry is "nearly fully recovered.""The investments we're making in leading edge technology are delivering the most compelling product line-up in our history," Otellini said. "These leadership products combined with growing worldwide demand and continued outstanding execution resulted in Intel's best first quarter ever. Looking forward, we're optimistic about our business as Intel products are designed into a variety of new and exciting segments."
According to The Wall Street Journal, Intel's quarterly profit nearly quadrupled and revenue rose 44 percent. The company also plans to hire between 1,000 and 2,000 new workers, its largest expansion in five years. The company also has an optimistic outlook for the second quarter of calendar 2010, a three-month period that is typically slow for the computer industry.
Otellini also noted that demand for Intel's new processors has been "incredible." Among those are the new Core i7 and Core i5 chips, both of which found their way into Apple's top-of-the-line MacBook Pros with a hardware upgrade released on Tuesday. Both the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models feature Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, as well as integrated energy efficient Intel HD Graphics processors.Using proprietary graphics switching technology, Apple's latest high-end MacBook Pros dynamically switch between the Intel integrated graphics and a new discrete Nvidia GeForce 330M graphics processor. In addition to offering battery life of between 8 and 9 hours, Apple's graphics switching also ensures compatibility with Intel's new Arrandale mobile processors, which feature the major northbridge chipset memory controller components built in.
In addition to the architectural changes Intel made with the Core i5 and Core i7 mobile processors, an ongoing lawsuit with Nvidia has forced the graphics card maker to halt the development of future chipsets. Apple's software solution also allows users to switch solely to discrete graphics and bypass Intel's low-power integrated option if they choose.addition to Apple's line of Mac desktops and notebooks, Intel supplies the processors that run about 80 percent of the PCs in the world. To me that suggests the average fleet of notebooks is four years old out there. The average fleet of desktops is five years old."For the second quarter of 2010, Intel has forecast revenue of $10.2 billion, with 64 percent gross margin. Jun 11, 2012Okay, so I am here at work, and have spent the last 4-5 hours trying to resolve this issue, and cannot find any working solutions for it on the internet. We have .3gp recordings. All of a sudden, we started getting this error on some of our computers. Example: I want to play test.3gp; I try to open test.3gp in QuickTime, and I get an error that reads...
"Error -2002: A bad public movie atom was found in the movie:test.3gp" But when I go to play test2.3gp, it plays fine. This issue varies from computer to computer. I get this error on all three of my machines. 2 Windows 7 64bit, and 1 Windows 7 32bit. My colleague and boss can play test.3gp fine through QuickTime on their computers. One is Windows 7 64bit the other is 32bit.
Anyone know some causes of this and hopefully a way to solve it? I tried cleaning up registry errors, running as administrator, updating, reinstalling... Nothing is working.

When viewing a movie file in my browser in Leopard, I was able to right click on it and save a copy to my desktop/computer. Now, I can't seem to enable this option...I have no way of saving a movie to my computer. Am I missing something? How does one do this now, do I need to click on a specific spot?

I know with previous installations of Filemaker Server I have been asked whether I wanted to keep the system version of PHP or install PHP which comes with Filemaker Server, but I don't recall being prompted about it on this occasion. Previously I had always opted to retain the system PHP.
