View 2 RepliesEvery time I want to shut down My mac Book Pro, I can not because CoreMIDI not responding, unless I force to quit coremidi. I am not shure, if I have to install coremidi again,or do something else. My problem is that I'm not even shure if CoreMIDI is part of the Apple software.

Several fonts in my font book changed from a book file to a .doc at random, and now are not openable. How can I change them back, or at least get them to work?! This is for a business graphic arts networked system so an answer as soon as possible would be awesome.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just had a weird system crash. All apps started Not responding, had to force quit a bunch, and eventually reboot. This is a clean install of Leopard. Can anyone shed any light on this....here are the messages from the system.log at the time things started crashing.

Only thing I did different is at one point I used Cover Flow to browse my Fonts folder. Not sure if that has anything to do with the quicklook server errors early on.
About once every other week, both my keyboard and Mighty Mouse (it makes no difference whether I'm using the wired or BT MM) lock up solid. They don't do anything. The only fix I've found is to power off my Late 2007 Al iMac with the power button in the back, unplug the iMac from the APC UPS for 10 seconds, then plug the iMac back in and power it up.
Anyone have the same problem or know the fix?
I'm going to contact Apple about it shortly, but thought I'd try here first. The iMac is one year old and it just started doing this about 6 weeks ago. I did get the 3 year warranty at the time of purchase, so I'm covered.
i just put in a audio cd (holy bible on audio cd) but it got stuck in the macbook. When i tried to eject the CD is not responding or ejecting. Basically i'm stuck with the cd in there. I've tried to shut down the computer and turning it on again, but nothing.

NOTHING has been spilled on the computer. Really weird, and just started today. I have to take it in due to dead pixels, so i guess it is good timing. 11 months old, and already a logic board replaced.
my USB mouse often freezes on the left corner of screen. Rebooting is not working. Sometimes the system comes backup a day later. Sometimes it does not. I tried different mice on different ports, not working at all. I found that when this issue happens, all usb ports are not working.
Info:Mac OS X (10.7.2), all usb ports are not working
My touch pad will only tap to click. It wont respond to a right click or left click when you actually press down on the pad. Any ideas what may be up? Macbook pro I7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPrograms such as iTunes, EyeTV, Skype, PhotoBooth, etc just RANDOMLY stop responding. I always have to restart my Mac to get them to respond again. The programs work fine on a guest account.
This is my first Mac and this is my only problem with it please help. I don't want to return it to Apple it's worked so great.
My mail all of a sudden won't respond upon opening. I have restarted and everything. I don't have the reinstall disks with me.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi recently got into the habit of watching activity monitor. i have noticed that there is constantly a process called ajax server, and it always says it's not responding. i quit is to see what happens and it came back and was normal for about 30 seconds and then went back to not responding.
i was just wondering what this process was and if it is a cause for concern
Just recently i have found that both Firefox and Safari have been "not responding" when i have tried to view some pages... namely some pages on the bbc news site and the guardian site and also [URL] It appears they are pages with some form of embedded video on them. its rather infuriating. the pages begin to open then all i get is the spinning rainbow and all other firefox or safari pages hang too.

I've been working on a movie for several weeks and all of a sudden it won't open. After several minutes I have to perform a forced quit of IMovie as it's not responding. This really sucks as I've been working on this presentation for some time in order to have it ready for graduation later this month. I'm going to start using the older version of IMovie.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen i went to shut down my imac the apple menu wouldn't show, it was just a white box, i clicked hide + show finder for some reason which brought back the full menu but it went away again. i restarted finder but now when i click shut down nothing happens. im having a panic attack, i really need help, im scared to shut down now because something similar happened about a year ago and my hard drive got wiped. i just don't know what to do, im not sure i have everything backed up, either. im running tiger, but that probably doesn't matter.
i repaired disk permissions, its still not shutting down and finder is persistently unresponsive after re-launching. i verified my disk and it said 'volume bit map needs minor repair', 'invalid volume free block count' and that machintosh HD needs repair.
Im running SL (updated of course) on my MacBook Pro 4,1. Im fairly new to Macs and to be honest I didnt even know about Activity Monitor till very recently. So I figured I would check out whats going on with my system and fire it up. Activity Monitor does not respond. It starts to open but then sits at this screen with a beach ball...
After a while I usually just Force Quit. Ive ran Onyx recently as well as Disk Repair and everything seems ok.
Alright, so back in September I bought a battery for my 15" pre-unibody MBP on Ebay, because I didn't want to spend too much more on this computer before I bought a new one, and I knew I could find a genuine one for cheaper than what apple charges.
I found one with three cycles on it, genuine and not a mark on it to suggest damage or a fake, and it's been working great for the past 54 cycles.
Until today. Last week, I left my MBP unused (sleeping) until today because I've been so busy and have just used my Mac Pro, and now I come back to my macbook and it has zero juice, so I plug it in and use it for a while, but notice it says "Not Charging" and "Condition: Replace Now". I take a look at iStat which tells me it has 51 cycles and 0% health, and "nan% Charged"...I restart, take out the battery, put it in, to no avail. The status light on the battery does not blink or come up when the button is pressed, and of course, the computer instantly turns off if the magsafe is disconnected (which is green, not red)
Could this just be a really nice looking fake, or can I do something to revive it?
:edit: I just did some googling to find a couple Apple support docs about the issue, but none helped. I've tried waiting (its been on an hour now) as well as resetting the SMC.

I saw a question recently titled 'Safari not responding' which is a problem I have been experiencing. The following programs also are not responding: Help Viewer/Calculator/software update (checks but will not install)/printer setup. I followed the suggestions and booted off the Cd and ran the Repair Disk/Repair Permissions programs but this did not solve the problem. I tried downloading the 10.3.8 Combo Updater but the installer part does not respond (spinning wheel!). Is there anything else I can try? In the past I have found some of the updates to cause problems (especially QuickTime) and have tried deleting the related preferences file but this no longer corrects the problem.

I just purchased CS4 and ID is not responding. It will open a new document but then will not respond and I have to force quit.
I recently upgraded from snow leopard to 10.7.3. I tried to install the beta of messages. When I tried to run the installer it froze whilst checking if it was able to install on this computer. In the end I had to force quit the installer. This was the first piece of new software I had tried to install since upgrading to 10.7.3. In. The end I gave up. Today I tried to install another application. Exactly the same happened and I had to force quit again. It appears that i am now unable to install any new apps?

Safari, iChat and Installer aren't working on my Mac, my Mac is version 10.7.2. Safari and Installer aren't responding, and iChat doesn't open any of the windows. I haven't tried all my other apps, but the ones I've tried clicking on have worked.
