OS X :: Internet Keeps Disconnecting Because Of "remote Site" ?

It happens constantly, whenever I try to watch streaming videos or download anything from the internet it just disconnects itself and then says " The connection was terminated my the remote site." or "the communications device." Whenever I try to change the network settings a window pops up and says my settings have been changed by another application and it stops me from clicking anyything else, i cant even close the window. I connect using an ethernet cable.
