I just upgraded to the most recent itunes. It seems that my airport express setup no longer works. I have an older (a/g) airport express, and to that I use the optical out to my DAC. Currently when I try to play from my express it tells me that there are no speakers hooked up to it!
View 1 RepliesOk, so I've got a Philips DVD R/RW drive and I want to put it in my Mac Pro. I put it in, hooked everything up, but it won't open for me (opt. + Eject, I know). It's set on cable select, but I've also tried it on slave with the stock on master. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to get this working as soon as I can.
PS, when I wake the MP from sleep, the light on the second drive blinks, but nothing else.
since 2 days my optical drive makes one very strange noise every time in "wake it up" or turn it on. The sound is done three times. I realized today that now I'm not able to put a disc into the drive, instead of "absorving" the disc, the drive expels it.

I recently got an iBook from a friend. He didn't want it. I took it home and I used the Recovery CD. Everything was going well. I used an audio cd on the iBook, the CD icon appeared on the desktop and it played it. On the other hand, the DVD did not work. I inserted the DVD the icon did not appear on the desktop.

I've read several threads where people have been having trouble with this, but nothing has been resolved so far? I've got a 2ghz core duo mac mini running OS 10.6.4. I used to be able to stream digital output from it, but I cant anymore & it's driving me around the bend. I have tried new cables, different combinations of sources of audio, cables, inputs on my AV receiver and everything is in good working order apart from the digital out on my mac.
It will play analogue stereo fine, it will play from the built-in speakers, but it will not play the optical digital stream. As I said before, it used to do this fine, until one day it just stopped working, it kind of 'faded out' and never came back. The light still shines when the toslink cable is plugged in and the output switches to digital in system prefs, but nothing is being received by the AV receiver.
I have purchased a optical audio cable to hook up my 15" mbp to my LCD.One end is the toslink and the other end is the toslink adapter, when I put both end into its place. The speaker icon turns gray and I cannot adjust the sound level and the music stops from the laptop speaker.Also, the optical digital audio out option is not showing up in audio preference.

The optical drive will not recognise any discs other than original audio CDs - it takes a long time to do this, and is very noisy whilst spinning. Any other DVDs or CDs (including ones burnt on the same machine) are just ejected after about 30 seconds of whirring and do not appear to be recognised anywhere by the computer.

I use a Toslink connection and iTunes to listen to music files through two different audio systems. After the latest OS update the digital optical connection has ceased to work. I've tried it with another computer running an older OS and it works fine, no issues on either audio system.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to resolve it? I've spent 2 days with Apple Senior Tech Support and it's still not working.

My friend is looking into buying the new 27" iMac Core i7 to replace his PC desktop. The only thing holding him back is that he has an analog surround sound system he uses for his speakers. I am having a hard time myself finding a converter that can make his speakers work in the iMac's optical digital output port. Any products out there that will do that?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that occasionally my IR sensor stops working, and no longer responds to changing the volume, skipping the track in iTunes, etc. It can be resolved by going into Security prefs, disabling and re-enabling the IR sensor. This is annoying, however, and I'm wondering if it's a known issue that might be fixed.
I noticed that when you disable and re-enable the IR sensor, the last few remote button pushes you made while it was broken come through in a burst.
I installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...
First my apologies, not really a mac guy. My spouse installed Lion on her PacBook machine.
1: Itunes wont work, error refers to the fact that a new version was already loaded. I tried to pull from trash the old version buty it still wont work. I also re-installed Lion and it still gives the same error message.
2- Seems to lose "airport connection, thus forcing me to rest the wifi connection often
3- Browser in Safari looks different
4- Wiped out all of her contacts when she connected her iphone to system.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to burn a music disk with iTunes. I am using CD-Rs. When I insert the blank disk, the computer recognizes it as a black disk and acts accordingly. Then, I click "Burn Disk" at the bottom of the iTunes window, and the burn process starts. Before iTunes begins to write the songs to the disk, it is automatically ejected and an error message appears. It reads:
"The attempt to burn a disk failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
And I am presented with "retry" "cancel" or "next."
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? It seems to be a hardware problem, at least according to the computer.
I am running the latest OS X with the most recent update to iTunes on a Macbook Pro 1st revision with 2 gigs RAM.
I have compiled 8 tracks in hope to put them on a CD. After a long wait the CD was supposebly done, but when I tried to play it in my CD player it did not work. could this be caused by iTunes asking me to calibrate the CD? or is it because 5 were in mp3 fromat and 3 were in mpeg-4?

I've tried some suggestions with no success and now everytime I sync up my ipod touch to itunes it completely erases all the songs off it and I can't get the songs to stay on the touch(I tried manually updating but the songs don't stick)

Then later on, i tried to download another app and was told my password was invalid...tried 3 more times and was still not working. So i figured it might be my phone and i tried my password on my computer and it was still invalid. I immediately checked my bank account and nothing was charged. So i did the whole "iForgot" thing and sent an email to myself to change the password, but i never received anything. So i did the second option which was to verify my birthday, but when i did, it said my information was invalid. I was hoping you guys could give me some advice on what i should do or if this has happened to anyone else.

I got iTunes match just before Christmas 2011 and also for Christmas I got a few CDs, these were all added to iTunes and everything seemed to be fine. I would try an use genius to get a random playlist but most of the time it would just say: "You can update your Genius results, which may find new information. If iTunes is still unable to create a Genius playlist from this song or artist, please choose another one."
So I'd pick another song and forget about it. I've been adding music to my iTunes for the last few months and today I went through every new song since adding iTunes Match and not one will work with Genius.
I know there have been issues with iTunes Match and Genius on iOS devices but I can't find anything on problms with the Mac.
Any thoughts on what is going on and how to fix it?

I have iTunes 10.6.1 on my Macbook Pro and was using the multiple speakers feature with my 2 airport expresses very successfully until recently. Now when I try to use multiple speakers within iTunes it recognizes those speakers but can't connect. I've tried resetting both airport expresses but nothing. I have all the recent upgrades and haven't done anything out of the ordinary to change things up.
I also know it isn't the airport expresses because I have another product called Airfoil that streams music wirelessly from any source to those speakers via the airport express and that works fine. So it's definitely something specifically to do with iTunes.
One last thing, when I stream iTunes via the Airfoil I have no problems. So again, it's definitely something to do with iTunes.

iTunes LPs have stopped working for me for some reason. It's been like this for months and I haven't found a solution anywhere. When I click on the LP file, nothing happens. Nothing pops up, nada. It's like as if I hadn't clicked on it at all. This is affecting ALL my iTunes LPs. I checked the files in the iTunes media folder and they all seem to be there iTunes just won't open them. I have the latest version of iTunes and I'm using a 2010 iMac 27" running Mac OS X Lion, the latest version.

I really like iTunes 10. Clean, uncluttered, easily usable. BUT I have an automator action set for 7:30am every day as an alarm to wake me. This action plays a playlist in iTunes called "morning alarm" and has worked for months beautifully. When I loaded the action in Automator I got an error to say that the "play iTunes playlist" action, the auto iPhone sync action and set iTune volume actions we no longer valid. Those actions appear not to exist any longer in iTunes 10. Has anyone else had similar problems? Did you get a work-around?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this is covered quite well both here and over at Apple discussions but I just cannot get this damn thing to work. I've been at it since 9am and it is now nearly 1pm. I spent 10 hours yesterday copying my iTunes Library over to my Time Capsule and planned to finish the job this morning by telling iTunes where to find the new library etc. Everything is in the right place and I've followed instructions from various threads from various locations but when I log out, log back in and attempt to open iTunes it can't find the library. Can some one list the 'correct' steps I need to take to get this thing to work. Even Apple's instructions don't work but they only refer to a HD not a network drive.
So far I transfered the entire iTunes folder to the TC and told iTunes where it is. Then I read I only need to copy the iTunes Music folder (not the entire iTunes folder). Either way I still get the same 'wheres the library?' problem. I also read I need to place an alias in the iTunes Music folder on my mac that points to the actual ITM folder on the TC. Still doesn't work. I keep swapping the extra bits and pieces alongside the ITM folder i.e. all the xml files and artwork folders between the mac and the TC but the problem still remains wherever these reside and each 'swap' takes nearly 15 minutes. I am also attempting to set this up so I can access the library on the TC from 2 accounts on the same Mac. Not sure if that will make a difference to settings just yet?
