I made a video about some hidden options that let you change certain things in the dock such as: Menu items, spacers, and the name of the trash.

how to show the dock when hidden other then moving the mouse to the dock?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince installing Yosemite (10.10.1) I cannot keep the Dock and the Banner Toolbar visible unless I move my mouse to the top or bottom of screen.
My Current settings:
>System Preferences>Dock: the 'Automatically Hide and Show the Dock' is unchecked.
Safari>View: Sdebars are all hidden; Status Bar and Favorites Bar are set to 'Show'. I am in 'Full Screen' but in the upper right corner of the screen, I have no arrows (another Support Post suggested that there should be two arrows facing each other??).

I have a MacBook Pro mid 2010 os x 10.7.5 8 gigs memory. When I am on a website, the dock is hidden on the bottom of the screen. Cannot get it to come up. I also cannot x out of a website, because the x is gone! I have to restart the computer to be able to get to a new screen. I have checked the settings on the dock, and I have them right.

i want to make my mac hidden (or a least appear as an unidentified hidden device, with only MAC & IP addresses showing (when i scan my network for the devices connected)) on a LAN.
My iMovie window is hidden behind the dock. When I get it out with 2 fingers and click on it, it won't activate. Rather it disappears behind the dock again. I tried quitting iMovie -- but it's useless. First time this happened on my 4-year-old mac.

I'm trying to make Mail start at Login but be hidden. But even when I go into System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items, and check the box for "Hide" by Mail, it still opens with the window when I log in. Is there any way to actually make it be hidden upon login?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.

How can I make my Dock multi-line? Or does anybody know the software that supports this feature?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen lots of docks in screenshots which don't have a dock background and have the app names instead of icons. How do i do this?
View 2 Replies View Related10.6.3. When I make an alias on my desktop of a folder and then drag it to my dock it'll stick there but it will open like a folder. When I click it it will open Finder and then that alias. I want it to open like Stacks do, preferably in list mode with the flyout menus. Why can't I do this? I had it in Leopard but can't get it to work in SL. I checked all my settings and can't find anywhere to create a stack from an alias. Or from anything for that matter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to the Mac OS world as i only got a mac one week ago. I'm learning lots of new stuff everyday but can't seem to figure out how to make my applications show up at the Guest Account Dock or even at the Applications folder for that matter.
I got Microsoft Office for Mac and it works fine and all on my User account (admin) but i cant make it show up at the applications folder or at the dock so when someone borrows my laptop for some office editing they have to be logged on my account.
Is there a way to customize the applications that show up on Guest Accounts? Ps: Love my macbook air. It makes me never want to touch another PC laptop again.
I recently tried to download a free trial of World of Warcraft for Macs but instead screwed up the display settings on my Macbook (version 10.6.4 OS X). I removed it from the computer when the game didn't play, it just gave a black screen, at which point I had restarted the computer to find text sizes magnified, the display setting changed so the whole screen wasn't being used, etc. I was able to change the screen display size no problem but cannot figure out how to make the icons and text in boxes such as applications in the dock, or system preferences folder smaller. Is there a way, without reinstalling the operating system, to reset these minor settings? I could live with the changes but would rather not.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've run into a very nasty problem with my macbook (late 2007 normal macbook model I think). Whenever it closes, the monitor goes black. This is normal. What isn't normal is this: whenever I open it and then either start it/awaken it, it gives me the screen... and then the monitor turns the brightness off again! This happens randomly, I have to close and open my screen quite a few times to get it to work-even if I restart the computer. I don't what's causing this, or how to fix it, although I have a hunch that it's the hinge on the back; it started shortly (but not directly) after I replaced my CD drive... I have the tools and instructions needed to open my machine up if it's a fairly simple fix, but I need to know what's going on first.

I do not have AppleCare on this machine. I've got a 27" iMac that will randomly shut down, be it in the middle of playing music on iTunes, while I'm typing a document or while the machine is simply in screensaver mode doing nothing. Usually the machine tries to instantly reboot itself. All too often, it cannot be rebooted and I have to let sit for quite sometime before it will even power back on. Lately the problem has gotten worse, almost never reboots by itself.
Finally, in the last few days, it just won't turn back on. Nothing. My biggest concern is that I have an unreleased music album from an instantly recognizable major client on the iMac's hard drive, not due out for many more months and still unannounced. I can't simply take the computer into an Apple store for troubleshooting as those files are worth and could cost me exponentially more than even a new iMac outright ever would.
I recently purchased an iBook used from someone locally. I got a good price because he said the battery was weak. However, I want to make sure that's actually the case. The power cord connection is not loose.
Coconutbattery says my battery is 36% health, but it also says it's not plugged into the charger when it actually is, so I don't know how reliable this program is. It says my mac is 27 months old, i have 367 cycles on the battery... etc. And I am running Tiger.
The problem is that the power meter on the top bar will say i've got a full charge... so I run the computer (on battery) down to about 60% according to the meter, but the computer instantly shuts off. I try to reboot, and it shuts off while rebooting. It's like the battery works fine and suddenly dies. I get about 30-40 minutes use out of the battery.
Is this the battery or do I have other problems? This only happens when using the battery.
I just downloaded Safari 4 beta from the apple site, installed it, restarted etc and everytime I launch it it crashes instantly. So, I uninstalled it (using the uninstaller), restarted, installed it, restarted again and still have the same problem. I've turned Growl off because I've heard this causes issues with some applications.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have a 5-year-old PowerBook G4. I remember I changed the battery about a year or two ago, because when I used to take it to classes in college, and use it unplugged, my laptop would shut off in less than an hour (more like ~30 min) when it reaches ~30%. After I got a new battery, it went back to normal, and lasted much longer. In the past couple of days, I noticed that within about 5-10 minutes of using my PB unplugged, battery goes from 100% --> ~85%, and then all of a sudden shuts down.
When I plug it back in to a power supply, and it starts back up, it starts recharging from 0%... this seems a little extreme. I haven't noticed this problem because I almost have it plugged in these days, as I usually use it at home or at work where I have a power supply available, and I use it for a few hour period at a time. Does this seem purely like a battery problem?! (ie. it's just time for a new battery...)
