I am trying to make up a playlist of my top 100 most played songs I thought I had done it but when ever a new song is added and reaches a play count high enough to be added to the playlist it does not show up.
what I should select when creating this kind of playlist?
I would like to make a playlist to include favorite songs from a single artist. For instance have a list for John Williams, and etc. Is this possible in iTunes?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a fair bit of music in iTunes, and it has bugged me somewhat that often when I want to delete many files something it's easier to go into a playlist to find them. But when I delete them from there it only removes them from that playlist, not the computer. I guess this makes sense, and I suppose nowadays space isn't often a problem.
In case this isn't clear, what I want to do is go into a playlist, then select songs, then delete those songs from my hard drive.
For some reason when I go to drag music to a playlist in iTunes, it will not move. Then I restart the program and it will work, but only for a little while and then it is back to not being able to move again. I tried clearing the preference files and no luck.

A: The genre is AudioBooks.

C: Pick 25 at random
D: Include partially played books.
The latter is the show stopper. How do I make sure that a book I started to listen to one time is still on the playlist the next time after I sync my phone. I'm willing to have a second playlist of "Books in progress" If it can't be done directly any pointers to an applescript for this?

Alright, so on iTunes I had a playlist with songs on them. I deleted it, then synced my iPad to it. Now that playlist isn't on iTunes or the iPad. How do I get the playlist back?

But every now and then I need to move to a song quickly that is not in that current playlist. My habit is to enter the new song's title in the search bar, but that doesn't work because if I am currently playing a playlist, the search bar only searches that current play list. Then I have to select the total music library and search from that level.
is there a fast way to search the entire music library for a song while a playlist is currently selected in iTunes?

Recently downlaoded music from iTunes. It shows up on main user library, but not on second user music library which is also in shared folder. As a result, second user can not add newly downloaded music to a playlist and then sync to iphone/pod. It does not show up in what is supposed to be the shared music library.

I have a folder full of mp3 files that are organized in the way that I defined. I'd like to import to iTunes maintaining the same organization. I thought about creating Playlist folders using the same structure of my files. Is there some way of creating this?

I also have uncategorized folders in my music folder with a bunch of random songs inside. Is there a way to sort the music list in iTunes by location, so I can choose all the songs in that folder to add to a playlist, or can I make a smart playlist that takes all the songs in the folder (and scans for new ones whenever)? If not, is there something else I can do to accomplish this?

View 17 Replies View RelatedWhen i transferred all my Music and Movies from my PC, i put them into the specified Music and Movie folders, but when i used itunes to open all of them, iTunes makes a copy of all of them and put then into it's own folder.
doesn't this take up 2x the space then?
The reason I ask is because if it does, I will like to delete the music I add to iTunes from its original location. Can I do this or is it recommended that the music also be in the original location?

If I have a song playlist, and I tell it to play the first song, it then goes on immediately to play the second song. But with videos, they don't immediately play. I have a playlist full of short videos. Shuffle is on, as well as Repeat All. I'm not sure what button I need to press to make this playlist actually work. How do I do it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've only recently added release years to all my albums and now I sort by album by year, which is great. However, I'd like to make some smart playlists based on decades, and this is a problem for anything on some sort of anthology or greatest hits collection. For example, the Barenaked Ladies greatest hits CD was released in 2001.
If I tag the whole album as 2001, it sorts correctly, but the individual tracks from the 90's won't show up in the 90's smart playlist. The other option I can think of is to tag each individual track with the correct year, but then the album stops appearing in the right place chronologically within the BNL albums, since iTunes no longer knows it was released in 2001.
So my question is this: is there some way to do a sort of "Sort Year" or "Album Year" similar to "Sort Artist" or "Album Year"?
And while I'm at it, I'm sure there's no way, but it seems like it'd be cool to somehow tie a track to two different albums. Previously, if I had a greatest hits and some original albums, I would erase any duplicates from the greatest hits and only keep them on the original album. However, since the release of iTunes 8 I use a more album-based approach to my music. I use grid view with shuffle off by default, and often just click "Play Album". But if I do that for a greatest hits comp, it of course won't play the tracks that I've deleted from it. So I have to keep two copies of the same recording for two different albums. It'd be cool if there was some way to tie one track to both albums to avoid dupes. But again, I'm pretty sure this'll never happen.
I have about a hundred "songs" of comedians telling jokes. The trouble is that these comedians get mixed up in my songs and whenever I shuffle through i always run into one of these comedians.
Is it possible to only have a certain group of "songs" stay in a playlist, away from the full list of songs?
...now I don't have the same functionality with iTunes. Basically, I can't use iTunes at all anymore as the interface for my music and videos. Once the external drive is mounted, I can navigate through it and play individual songs, but I can't use iTunes to do that. All my previous Playlists show up down the left side of iTunes, but there isn't any music in them.
I downloaded 2 songs yesterday, made a Playlist out of them, and because the path in the Advanced tab of the iTunes Preferences is correct, it automatically added the songs to the external hard drive. I synced my iPod and it was completely erased except for the 2 new songs. Is there a way to use iTunes to navigate my music like I used to when I stored the information on the internal hard drive but keep the information on the external drive? I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and the latest version of iTunes.

I some local internet streams which I listen to, when I added them a long time ago I couldn't add them to the itunes radio tab :-( but created a playlist.I would like to have those streams available on my laptop but since there is no "music" it does not sync. Is there a way to do this? It would be nice to have them on the idevices as well but there i just use a radio app.

I want this same playlist on my iPhone but when I do an 'export' then try to drag and drop into my phone I get a message saying it did not copy because 'it cannot be played on this phone'. I also cannot drag and drop it into iTunes anywhere either. All of these songs are in my library, I just don't want to have to go through and remake this playlist to add to my phone.
