I know the Linux version of Wine has a nice little uninstaller, but I can not find it in the Mac version and it's driving me nuts.
So if anyone knows the terminal command for it, if there is even one,
i was having trouble completely uninstalling wine, ive tried wit appdeleter and such but it never really deleted the part where if u command click a exe file and click on open with, it still shows wine there! how do i completely obliterate wine from my computer?

View 5 Replies View RelatedA few months ago I installed a sync program on my G4 PPC running OSX to try and sync a cell phone I no longer have. It never did work for the phone. So, I found the file under applications and drug it to the trash thinking it was gone. Well it wasn't. Now every time I plug in my ipod it pops up "Sync alert". It wants me to sync my ipod with it but I don't want to. I don't even remember what the program is called, but it does not seem to be showing up in the finder or in the spotlight. I want this program completely gone, I have no use for it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been meaning to sign up for ages but only now am I getting around to it.Anyway, here is my question.I have been running Linux for quite some time, and am fairly adept at using terminal, WINE, etc. As with most people, I still cannot completely avoid Windows (Borderlands is addictive ok?) and I still use MSN, seeing as 95% of the people I know use it, not Yahoo messenger, AIM or Skype. Which is a nuisance for me, because while I like Adium, it really does suck compared to the real MSN client. And as usual, Microsoft pretends to be nice to Apple "developing software for it" while making sure its products are crippled so people either need to run CrossOver / Wine or Parallels / VMware to use it inside OS X, or create a boot camp partition for Windows. This doesn't make me want to use Windows, it makes me even more glad I purchased a Macbook.Ranting aside, I find the Wine client for Mac kind of 2nd rate compared to the Linux version.Installing winetricks fails miserably, where on Linux it was simple. Also, the lack of a decent DMG file or package makes installing it that little bit more difficult, I've never had good luck at installing things via terminal, even on Linux.My question is, has anyone found a way to install Wine and Winetricks on Mac to install MSN messenger?-IMPORTANT NOTE-I have Adium installed, as well as Microsoft Messenger, aMSN and I've tried basically all the other clients out there. Do not suggest these as solutions. This is about how to install the OFFICIAL Windows Live Messenger on Mac OS X using Wine, CrossOver or another method.

Everything went smoothly including installing 4x750 Samsung Spinpoint drives from newegg, 4 GB of extra memory from OWC, Raid set up, and so on. For instance, I want to uninstall a program that I installed as I want to reinstall it. In Windows, you've this wonderful control panel that has everything. Mac's Utility folder has some stuff, but not what I am looking for. I love the right-click mouse feature in Windows; can't seem to have that work on my Mac. So, is there any kind of resource available which lists everything that the OS does without any pretty pictures or over-simplifications? The 81-page manual on Apple site didn't do much good to me. And, how do you uninstall a program? Throwing the .app file in the trash didn't help.

I am new to using mac and just got a new HP printer to replace my old hp printer. If I understand correctly I click and drag my current HP printer file/icon to the trash and then search for additional files using applef to delete the rest. Is this right? Am I missing any other crucial steps? If the brand is the same do I need to remove the additional files?
Also and this may be a stupid question, but how do i make sure that my computer does not recognize the old printer for my wireless network when I set up my new one?

So I just recently converted to all Mac. With that being said, I purchased a couple seasons of Mad Men via iTunes.
Now with music, I know you can burn the album to a cd and then import from cd to have a non-drm album. Not knowing, I've come to realize that you can't do this with videos.
I've read that you can backup your iTunes library on DVD, but I really don't want to do this all the time. I have my iTunes library on my ext hdd with a TM partition, but I don't want to rely on it (also my media is going to eventually outgrow that TM partition).
So, with that being said, I'm looking for a program that will re-record (or as others put it DRM stripping) the original untouched purchased video and give me a DRM free copy for backup.
Or, if there are any programs out there or methods of completely backing up iTune's purchased video, then I'm open ears.

I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
I am having a problem on how to increase the RAM of my Windows XP inside my Mac. Currently, it has 512 RAM.However, the software I am installing (IDRISI Taiga) needs at least 1GB RAM. By the way, my Mac PC has 4GB RAM.

There are instances where I sometimes need to fetch a link or something on OSX, and would rather not reboot just to get it. I know for OSX that VMware allows me to run my bootcamp as a virtual machine, which I really like. I'm basically trying to do the opposite of this an run OSX as a virtual machine inside of Windows 7.
