OS X :: Getting (Time) Info Of All Files Of One Folder

Mar 26, 2009

I have about 100 files in a folder (not a specific file type - I found a Macro for word but it only recognized doc files). I want to get the times they were created and modified (for ex: created at 04:30:07 and modified at 04:41:59) and put them in a text file.

OS X V10.4 :: Get-info On A Folder Display Number Of Files 'in' Folder?

Feb 13, 2012

(1) How can i have get-info on a folder display the number of files *in* the folder?I do not like having to count them by hand.

(2), how can i get new folders (and other files) to be placed at the bottom of a drive's window rather than off to the right at the top of the window..?

I have hundreds of files on this drive, arranged essentially in a tall column 3 or 4 files wide. I DON'T want new folders (or files that i copy or save to the drive) being placed all the way up at the top, out of view to the right because then i have to drag them all the way down to the bottom. Follow? Yet, this is what OSX is doing (usually).

OS X Mavericks :: Each Time Turn On IMac / Get MacOS Files Folder

Sep 1, 2014

I would like to keep the MacOS folder from opening each time I re-boot the computer..How do I prevent a window opening with MacOS files showing when starting the computer?

I have cleared the "History" even though it does not show there.  I notice in "Finder" under "Go" there is a "Recent Folders" and it shows there.  I have Cleared it from there and restart the computer and "MacOS" folder still opens in the center of the screen or where ever I moved it to before closing it.  I have tried a Safe Boot and it still shows when re-starting..I would like to keep the MacOS folder from opening each time I re-boot the computer...

OS X :: Creating Private Folder - Get Info Panel

Apr 26, 2009

I was searching around on Google trying to find a way of creating a private folder, all I found was articles saying that you had to create a disk image of a folder, the only problem is that the whole password system wouldn't always work. So I thought of a better way, what you do is with the folder you wish to create private open the Get Info panel. Then open the Sharing & Permissions panel, enter your user password if prompted, turn all of them to drop box only, then click the lock, users will now only be able to view this folder if they unlock the panel with your user password and then change the style.

Hardware :: Info About Time Machine ?

Mar 10, 2009

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me a little bit about Time Capsule.

I have a Dell PC, a 20" iMac, 2 Dell Laptops (my wife's), a (Unibody) MacBook and two iPhones. Right now I'm using a Belkin N+ Router. I was considering a HP Home server.

I'm wondering if Time Capsule would be a better router for me and generally if it will be a better alternative for me than what I have. I'm about to move from a one-story to a two-story house.

Applications :: Editing The Info Of Mp3 Files On A Mac?

Feb 4, 2009

Ok, so I have been a life long pc user who recently bought one of the new unibody mbps. On my old pc I had a large collection of .mp3 files that i moved over to my mac. My problem is that on the pc I could easily edit all of the information by right clicking and going to properties. On my mbp I right click on the file go to get info but it wont let me edit any of the stuff in the "more info" section, like the year recorded, comments, album, or title. Is there anyway to do this? I am really ocd about how my music is organized and like it all to be the same. (seeing unorganized ipods drives me crazy) I know you can do this in itunes but i want to do it on the actual files so it is changed permanently.

OS X :: Cannot Close Get Info Bar On Searched Files

Oct 20, 2009

When I click "Get Info" on any file that I search for on my Computer, "Fetching" appears under "more info and hangs. I then won't be able to close the Get Info Bar. The only way to close the get info bar is to click on any open window and then the info for that files appears.

I have no issue closing the get info bar on any file on my computer that's in a folder, desktop, or located anywhere else on my computer. This only occurs with files that I search for in Finder.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Copy Date Info From Converted Files

Jun 28, 2012

We have several hundred files that were converted recently to a different file format.  The conversion process caused all the new files to have today's date but did not change the file names.  I am looking for a way to pull the create/modify dates from the original files and apply them to the converted files so the new files will have their original dates.  All of the original files had different dates, so I can't just apply a certain date to the converted files.

OS X :: Finder Won't Display Folder Size In Size Column Or Info Window?

Feb 5, 2010

Normally, the Finder window will display a folder's size in the Size column. However, I have one folder which shows as "Zero KB" in the Size column. When I open the General Info window, the Size reads as "Zero KB on disk (Zero bytes) for 0 items."

In order to get the folder size I have to go into the folder, select all folders, then with either the Summary Info or Inspector window, it'll show the folder size ("185.32 GB on disk").

Why is this occurring in only this folder? Is it because it's a large folder?

I'm running Snow Lep 10.6.2. The folder is on an external drive in FAT32 format.

OS X :: Copying New Files To Another Folder With Folder Action?

Nov 19, 2009

Is there a way to create a folder-action that accomplishes what I'm about to describe?

I have iTunes-library (like most of us do). What I would like to accomplish is to copy my library to a server on my network. Of course I can do the initial copying manually, but what I would like to do is that whenever I add content to my library, a folder action kicks in, and copies that new content to the server.

Now, I created a folder action with Automator, and it kinda works. What it does is that it looks at certain folder, gets folder-contents (subfolders included, since iTunes-library resides in subfolders), and copies them to another folder. It works, but what happens is that it copies the subfolders and their contents AND the individual files separately. I mean that if I copy a folder called XXXX which contains subfolders called ZZZZ and YYYY, which in turn contain files ABCD and 1234, it doesn't copy the folder XXXX, but it does copy the subfolders ZZZZ and YYYY and their contents. All well? Well, no, since it also copies the individual files (ABCD and 1234) to the root of the destination-folder. What I would like to copy the folders in similar way they are in the original folder.

Also, what happens when I reboot my computer? When I log back in, would the folder copy the entire folder-structure all over again? I mean, I log in, the folder-actions runs, and copies the contents of the folder. What I would like it to do is to only copy files over when new files/folders are added.
