My wife has a brand new MacBook (her first). During the initial boot process, the Mac took her picture (of the dog licking her face). Where is that picture stored? We need to upload it to Facebook.

Could it be that I am turning the plug off at the switch when I don't use it and then it sometimes is bad to start up after a few days. Someone be strict with me and tell me what I am doing wrong (should I even be turning it off at the switch once turned off?)

I have 2 new HDs (each 1T) uninstalled, and I have my old HD (160 gigs) currently residing in one of the two slots in my G5. Any ideas on the best way/process to get the data transfered from the old HD to the new ones, leaving my two slots filled with the 2 new drives AND my data from the old HD transfered and intact, with a RAID0 setup?
OR, are there any other suggestions on a good setup with the 2 new HDs?
I'm open to suggestions.
I always back-up on external HDs, so, is their a need for me to worry about setting up a RAID0?
I'm doing video processing for DVD release.
Should I just max out the 2x1T gig HDs and not worry about a HD failure?
I have an external hard drive, but it seems to be either corrupt or malfunctioning in some other way. When I plug it in it works fine for a while, but soon after I get a "Disk was not properly ejected" error.
If I try to unplug and plug the disk in again, Finder won't recognise it until I've rebooted my computer.
I can't be bothered rebooting all the time, so is there a process I could kill instead that would relaunch itself and start off "fresh"?
I am new to Mac. I just bought a new Macbook Pro for my daughter for her birthday. Actually she is new to Mac. Anyway, I am setting up Boot camp with Windows for her as well as some other software. When the macbook first booted, it played this wicked cool movie with "welcome" in a bunch of languages, then went through the setup process. Is there a flag I can set somewhere that will force that to happen again when she first starts it up?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem getting my G5 to boot. Half the time when I turn it on I get no chime. The other half, I get the chime but the boot process does not continue. If I leave the computer on the fans begin to progressively get faster and louder after about 5 minutes. I've tried starting with various USB and Firewire components unplugged and have even gone to just a keyboard and mouse. No change. Can I get the computer to boot from an OSX CD? How do I open the tray? etc.

I have a (check sig) and just tried to install the Windows 7 RC 64-Bit onto a Bootcamp Partition. I had been using the Beta way back, but had cleared that partition in advance for a clean install. With that I had no problems...ran the 7 beta fine alongside OSX. I followed the same procedure I had done for the beta install with RC, following the guide on the internet. Everything seemed to work out peachy, Windows 7 booted fine, I added all my settings again. Then I switched over to OSX to eject the disc, which was fine although the boot in was quite sluggish. I set the boot drive as "Macintosh HD" in System Prefs, and proceeded to try to boot into Windows 7 again....this time it was no go.
The screen came up with the white cursor on black, and then the "Starting Windows" showed, with the animation above it. At some point during the animation, it just froze. My fans were at normal speed and everything. I tried many times, same story. So I thought I would shut down, boot into OSX, and try to erase the partition. That didn't work either. When booting into OSX, the start-up chime sounds with the white screen, then the gray Apple logo shows up....and that's where it stays. I reset the PRAM, no luck. What could be the reason it hangs on BOTH boot processes? Because for a short time they did both work, and I could not have erased my OSX partition or anything because I did boot into it once after installing the Win7 RC. I also can see both partitions when I boot holding Option...
I'm trying to remove "WDNotifier" from ever loading when I boot. Can someone direct me where to do this?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have seen in the Parallels instructions that you can create a new Virtual Machine from an existing Boot Camp partition - but is the reverse possible??I have a functioning Windows XP VM in Parallels and have unsuccessfully tried to create a Boot Camp partition (trust me I tried all the conventional ways) but failed. So the question is can I somehow convert my Windows XP VM into a bootable Boot Camp partition? I tried copying the files of my VM into the Boot Camp partition, but when booting I get an error that it is not a bootable volume.

I have a Mac Pro with several raid array and single drives attached (1x Wiebetech RTX600 Raid 5 through SCSI; 1x CalDigit HDElement Raid 5 through miniSAS; 4x internal drives).Unfortunately, due to various reasons (electricity outtage and software crashes), I'm experiencing system crashes and need to hard re-start the system. Upon restart, I am able to boot back into Mac OS X, but sometimes one, or both of the raid arrays will not mount.However, after a period of 0.5 - 2 hours, the array would magically re-appear again. Sometimes this might even happen to internal drives that I had mounted inside the chassis of the Mac Pro.

When I do a search from iphoto and read the info about the picture, it shows me a series of folders in which I suppose they are saved. But when I try to find these folder through the same path, I cannot see them. Curiously, only the application is shown. How can I see the actual files where my photos are kept?

I have looked at the online material for Aperature and Lightroom and am not sure if either of these will allow me to do this. I have been using finder but that is a painful process as I need to have 11 windows open and keep jumping back and forth between windows. There has to be a more efficient way to get through this.
So, I am curious if either of the programs I mentioned would do the trick, or some other software? Programs like PSE really don't help for this. Adobe Bridge was somewhat useful but also needs multiple copies of the program running at the same time to use multiple folders.
Ive downloaded a bunch, but couldnt find one that fit my needs.
So on microsoft paint, you have the ability to set specific margins when printing, fit to page, center, etc... as well as change printer, paper type, and ink settings for optimal quality..
however i couldnt find one thus far to use on my mac.. closest ive downloaded has been google's picasa but there are only preset margins and nothing regarding print quality, etc
so i need a program with these capabilities..it doesnt need to be a good photo editor... i just need to open existing photos and be able to adjust print margins/ quality myself
I'm at my wits end trying to find a decent (and preferably cheap) solution for bulk tagging photos. Before I cave and end up buying Lightroom 3, I thought I'd check here first. My requirements are:
- Must be able to write metadata directly to the picture file (i.e. destructive edits, which rules out any Apple software)
- Provide easy options for filtering based on keyword tags
- Will build list of keywords from my existing photos, so I can reuse.
Do most of you just use iphoto or do you prefer some other photo software?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some very seductive pictures of my wife that I want to secure in an unhackable* program on my iPhone and Mac so that they never see the light of day unless I enter the correct password.
Obviously my wife isn't going to be looking on my phone (she let me take the pictures with the phone in the first place)...my concern is if the phone is ever lost or stolen...I want those pictures totally unreachable if my phone ever winds up in the wrong hands.
I know that there is a very good program called "Folder Lock" for PC....but they don't have a corresponding Mac version (they do have an iPhone app, but then what do I do with the corresponding pictures that are on my Mac that Folder Lock doesn't have a desktop app for)?
So, anybody know of a Photo Locker/Encrypter/Vault for both the Mac and the iPhone?...don't necessarily care if they are the some company, just want end-to-end security so that if either one goes down, I have a backup on the other unit....but both are hackproof* if ever stolen or lost.
I should clarify one thing about my Mac requirements,...I'm actually looking for an application specifically designed for this exact purpose (as opposed to slick Terminal ".folder" fixes that would hide the folder, but in no way make it secure). So, an app with a Password is a Must, preferably with strong encryption.
im looking for a program i can edit software .. do some simple editing mirroring and some more things. is there anything else i can use other then i-photo and adobe photoshop thats either free or cheep?

I went to apple to download the firmware, what ever that is. and will not let me because I tells me i don't need it. when to the genius bar and he told me go archive it on the Install disc!!!!!!!
and this is in the OSX forum because, its "supposedly" on the OSX disc.
I want to erase my WinXP Boot Camp partition and make a new, slighly larger one with Vista (don't ask why, not exactly my choice). The problem is I am away from home at the moment and visiting my parents. All I took with me was a Vista Ultimate install DVD. Today I opened the Boot Camp Assistent and I discovered that I need the Leopard DVD (Mac OS X Install Disc 1 in my case). Unfortunately, I didn't take this with me.
Any suggestions about what to do? I can always wait until after the holidays and install everything the legit way. I can also bit torrent drivers but I am a little skeptical of pirated setup.exe files. For some reason Apple doesn't post download links on their website. Could someone maybe send me their legit setup.exe?

I see that I have Boot Camp Assistant 3.0.1, however, I noticed on my laptop, that it has 3.0.2. I go to SU and nothing shows up. How do I get to 3.0.2 Boot Camp Assistant? One reason I noticed that something may be wrong is that when the Boot Camp installer goes through, that it doesn't mention Windows 7 in the disc requirements.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?
