MacBook Pro :: Finding Boot Camp 3.1 Drivers On A 2007 MBP?
Jan 21, 2010I have a 2007 Macbook Pro and I just downloaded the new 3.1 boot camp drivers for it, so I can install them in Windows 7.
I've tried running the installer as Administrator but the installation procedure doesn't start and Windows comes up with a message saying that it didn't install correctly.
Whats the trick to getting things to work? I already had to rebuild the Windows 7 install ISO to get past the EFI issues, so I'm wondering whether my machine is not supported.
Presently, I'm using the drivers from my Snow Leopard install DVD which I had to decompress and install one by one. Everything but the track pad seems to be working OK, but it would be nice to get that last thing working.

Dec 10, 2008i am told its on my OSX disk 1 >system>installation>Packages>bootcampassistant.pkg but it is no where to be seen for me. i get the error in the picture. I went to apple to download the firmware, what ever that is. and will not let me because I tells me i don't need it. when to the genius bar and he told me go archive it on the Install disc!!!!!!!
and this is in the OSX forum because, its "supposedly" on the OSX disc.
OS X :: Finding Boot Camp Drivers?
Dec 21, 2008I want to erase my WinXP Boot Camp partition and make a new, slighly larger one with Vista (don't ask why, not exactly my choice). The problem is I am away from home at the moment and visiting my parents. All I took with me was a Vista Ultimate install DVD. Today I opened the Boot Camp Assistent and I discovered that I need the Leopard DVD (Mac OS X Install Disc 1 in my case). Unfortunately, I didn't take this with me.
Any suggestions about what to do? I can always wait until after the holidays and install everything the legit way. I can also bit torrent drivers but I am a little skeptical of pirated setup.exe files. For some reason Apple doesn't post download links on their website. Could someone maybe send me their legit setup.exe?

Oct 31, 2010I have a Mac Pro 2008 with 10.6.4. I am having trouble installing Windows 7 using Boot Camp. I see that I have Boot Camp Assistant 3.0.1, however, I noticed on my laptop, that it has 3.0.2. I go to SU and nothing shows up. How do I get to 3.0.2 Boot Camp Assistant? One reason I noticed that something may be wrong is that when the Boot Camp installer goes through, that it doesn't mention Windows 7 in the disc requirements.

Feb 28, 2010So i installed windows 7 through bootcamp on my unibody 13"macbook. I managed to install windows 7 but when i run bootcamp 3.1 it says that i have to have bootcamp 3.0 first. SO i got 3.0 but when i try to run it it say its not compatible with 64 bit. What should i do?
I managed to install the video drivers from nvidia websites. I also installed all the drivers in the x64 Drivers directory of boot camp
Software :: Finding Vmware Fusion Boot Camp?
Jan 21, 2009I have a problem with my boot camp and vmware fusion. For some reason my internet won't work when I am on vmware but it works fine in boot camp. I look under hard ware manager and it says the ethernet controller isn't installed but i dont know where to find the driver for it. I've tried reinstalling vmware, deleting the virtual machine, uninstalling/reinstalling vmware tools and under setting Connected is checked and i have it set at NAT and have tried all the other options.

If I get 5.1 speakers and use the optical-out port on the Mac, are there drivers for Windows that will support the optical out and let me do 5.1 as well? I'm curious as I intend to do some gaming on the box, and this greatly influences the speakers I would buy (2.1 vs 5.1)

Sep 25, 2009I installed Windows 7 on a Mac Pro 09 and now I�m not sure if I really need the Boot Camp 3 drivers or not. It�s just installed for games and 3D Software. I don�t have an USB iSight, obviously, and don�t need the media function keys of the keyboard nor I use the Mighty Mouse. Also I don�t need iDisk access HFS+ access or Bonjour and what so ever. I mostly run OSX anyway.
So, would it work if I just install the Chipset drivers, Audio, Ethernet and graphics card drivers if I find them?
Or do the Boot Camp drivers have special stuff which I absolutely need?

Feb 19, 2009I'm in dire need of knowledgable assistance here! I've just purchased a beautiful unibody MBP and loving it. Last night I created an 80gb windows xp32 with sp2 partition using boot camp assistant and everything went perfect. Load up xp and installed the apple "install disc" and all drivers were installed.
My intention is to play games on this partition, so I obviously wanted to install the best video drivers. I haven't updated to sp3 yet, but I downloaded the latest nvidia notebook drivers off their website and specifically d/l'd version 179.48 beta, it's an autoexe file. anyways, upon installation it exits, saying it cannot find the hardware to support the drivers.. ! i then tried installing a few laptopvideo2go drives using their method with the modded inf file and was successful installing these files, but xp soon after reverts to the crappy old vga drivers with an error msg.

Nov 21, 2010In retrospect, I should have ignored it when Apple Software Update told me about the Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for my 2006 Mac Pro running x64 Win 7 ultimate. When I ran it, it overwrote my blue tooth driver and my keyboard stopped working. Thanks for the folks at Mac Rumors forums, I was able to go through the procedure to get it working again, and I also had to update the video driver (again) from ATI for my 3800.
So then I decide to reboot into MacOS and discover that my icon for selecting the boot disk was gone, not to mention any directory or programs in the start menu. This happen to anyone else? Do I have to downgrade to 3.1 or does anyone have a recommendation to get 3.2 working?

Background:
I've got an MCE Optibay in my Mid-2010 i7 MBP. When installing Bootcamp it refuses to install from the external USB DVD drive. In the end I pulled the 2nd HDD out and reconnected the internal DVD. It then worked fine without a hitch. Then I reinstalled the 2nd HDD and all was fine for a few days.
Now I want to resize my Win7 partition (bigger, as MS Visual Studio's bigger than I thought, and I might stick some games on). I can shrink the OSX partition fine with Disk Utility, but windows won't grow the Win7 one because the empty space is before the Win7 partition, not after it. Apparently this can be done with GParted. Guess what? I can't boot the Linux based GParted CDROM from the external USB DVD drive! So, will a Firewire one work where USB fails, and solve my alternative OS booting issues? If I buy one I can then either use GParted, or delete the Win7 partition and start again without having to pull the laptop to bits all over again, only to put it back once I'm done, and possibly have the same issues in the future. Obviously I don't want to blow extra money getting a Firewire DVD drive though if it's a waste of money...

Boot Camp Assistant can not be used
You must update your computer's Boot ROM firmware before using this setup assistant.
Now I have tried all firmware updates available on apple site but they say they are not needed, I'm on 10.5.6 and a friend of mine with same firmware runs his boot camp comfortably.
My Boot ROM Version:MB21.00A5.B07

Dec 25, 2008This is the 1st time i got a Mac , i bought a black Macbook 2.4GHz some days ago .
I installed Windows Vista Ultimate using Boot Camp , and all went smoothly .
Only 1 prob is when restarting , i have to wait too long for the Windows to log on , i think about 1min with the black screen.
And if i want to boot in Mac OS , i have to push down the D button or the Alt, it takes quite a long time too .
So do you guys have any solution to this problem ? I want to get rid of the waiting time, way too much.
And do you know how to make my Macbook jump right in the choosing section when it starts ? ( so that i dont have to push down any button when it starts )
OS X :: How To Make Boot Camp OS Selection Default Boot Screen?
Sep 17, 2009Is there a way to make the Boot Camp menu the default boot screen, as opposed to holding Alt? This is the latest SL release, if that matters.
I know this is possible in some manner, our networked iMacs all do it; they start up and give the option to boot OS X or Windows, with a countdown to boot the default OS. I'd just like the same thing to happen on my MBP.

Sep 21, 2009I have done some research on triple boot systems, and it appears that a third OS must be run virtually, but all the information I came across was a few years old. Microsoft is running a deal right now on Windows 7 for students so I would like to pick up a copy and try it out.
Is it possible to run 3 operating systems through Boot Camp 3.0? I am not interested in running a virtual OS.

Feb 18, 2010I have been trying to install Windows 7 (yes, legit copy) to my Macbook Pro the whole day, but I keep on getting this error message saying "Press any key to boot from cd or dvd . . . ."
When I press any key on the keyboard, nothing happens. I know this copy works because I've tried this on VMWare 3. (I'm going to Boot Camp of BIOSHOCK!)
What I've Tried:
Deleted partition, recreate partition and choose the Windows 7 disk as startup disk.

I tried holding the command key when rebooting but it just goes into the windows part. Looks like windows took over. Does anybody know how I can get it to boot in Leopard?

Jul 6, 2010Have the new 15" MBP with i7 Processor. I had another MBP with a 7200RPM drive and installed drive in the new i7 Mac. Computer was working fine until I installed Windows via Boot Camp. I can't boot to the Mac Partition any more, the partition is there but when you try to boot to it you just see the Apple logo and NO circle. I cannot boot to the install CDs or a bootable external drive. I target disk mode the computer and used another computer to boot using the drive in the i7 unit and it's fine and I can see all the information. I tried booting the i7 into single user mode and saw the following message:

Jan 12, 2010I've installed and reinstalled xp and vista on bootcamp. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. The forums don't help either.
The drivers are all recognized. The only sounds I hear are the noise when windows boots up, and a clicking noise when I mute or unmute the computer. Nothing else. Anybody have any suggestions? Please help

Jun 6, 2010I'm a long time user of PCs but have just bought my first Mac - a new 2010 MacBook Pro 13". I want to replace the hard drive with an SSD, however looking through the threads on this forum have got me worried. The Intel ones seem to have issues with Boot Camp (I want to install Windows 7 x64 on it as well as OSX) and the OCZ Vertex forums have horror stories of Macbooks not booting at all off the SSD (albeit on the 2009 Macbooks).
Is there any SSD that has proven just to work? Ideally it should have garbage collection as well and be 120-160GB but that is my only stipulation.

I can install all the software that came with the SSD under Windows. So my question is if I do that will the Trim feature only work on the Windows 7 partition or the entire drive?

I've succesfully installed Windows 7 64 bit in my macbook but when I click the game this note appear:

How come I don't meet the system requirements? It is said that I have 384 MB memory.

Windows On Mac :: Want To Boot Through Both Boot Camp Or Parallels?
Jul 20, 2009I just installed Windows XP to a Boot Camp Partition on my MBP. However, rebooting is a hassle and naturally I want to avoid doing such as often as possible. I think running Parallels Desktop would suit my needs quite well. But here's the catch: I want to be able to use one partition to serve both of those needs. In other words I want have the option of booting through both Boot Camp or Parallels.
How would I go about doing this? I already have a XP installed via Boot Camp. So if there is a method where I don't have to reinstall, great, but I am fine with deleting stuff.
