May 9, 2010how to restore the default Color LCD profile for a mbp 15" Glossy Hi-Res? I was messing around with mine trying to get rid of the purplish hue to all Blues and overwritten the default one. I'd rather not have to do a re-install and my Time Machine backup is of my old mbp (so different panel).

Feb 20, 2009before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.

I used my Pantone Huey to calibrate bith my main display and my secondary (just switched primary display between the two machine)
Everything worked great but I have 2 profiles that have the exact same name.
I can open up the .icc and do a save as but that just changes the file name not the name displayed in sytem preferences
Windows On Mac :: How Do I Get My LCD Color Profile Over To XP
May 8, 2008I installed XP through Boot Camp and the default color profile used just looks like crap. It's really washed out with dull colors and nothing like it is with Leopard loaded. What's the best way to fix that outside of using a monitor calibrator? I tried grabbing some pre-made color profiles off here to use since some of them had a Windows version with the Mac but I went into the color profiles tab in Windows to try and install the profile and when I selected to use it it didn't seem to change anything. I've never changed the LCD color profile in Windows before. Can anyone tell me how you did it?

Aug 28, 2009Just finished the install and I am wowed by the color of my screen. I had been using a custom calibrated profile in Leopard. Snow Leopard defaulted it back and it is MUCH better than what I had. I tested my 'calibrated' profile and it is god awful now.
Anyone else experience a major improvement in color after the upgrade? What could the explanation be for this?

MacBook Pro :: Color Profile Was Really Off After Re-install?
Aug 28, 2009This might be a stupid/silly question, but I'm going to go ahead and ask anyways since it's been bugging me all day.Brand new MBP 13", used the stock 250GB HD for a couple days but decided to get a bigger 7200RPM drive. So I know what the screen looked like with the initial factory install of OS X. Fast forward to later this afternoon after I put in the new drive. I re-installed the OS using a retail copy of Leopard instead of the bundled discs for the 13", and after everything was booted up I noticed the color profile was really off. Colors weren't as vibrant as before, and everything just looked so washed out. I noticed it right away, but did all the system updates to 10.5.8 hoping it was just a glitch. After a restart the colors was still off, and I verified via System Profile to make sure the GPU is being recognized etc.
Convinced myself to re-install this time using the discs that came with the MBP.After everything is installed, the color tones are back; much more vibrant colors and no longer looked washed out.So I guess my question is, is the retail copy of Leopard not installing the correct color profiles? If I was to do a fresh install of SL tomorrow would something similar happen (guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow I guess).
MacBook Pro :: Keeps Forgetting Color Profile
Sep 5, 2009My MacBook Pro is connected to the LED Cinema Display. Every time it wakes from sleep, or sometimes after screensaver, it forgets the colour profile. I have to go system preferences and click display and then it automatically uses the correct profile. This happens on both the LED display and the MacBook screen. I am running Snow Leopard, and I don't think I had this issue before upgrading. I googled and found one thread on a different forum about the exact same issue, but no answer. [URL:....] Interestingly it was posted before Snow Leopard.

Feb 20, 2012I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro, the higher end model with Snow Leopard. Before that i had a late 2008 unibody aluminum Macbook with Leopard. As soon as i started using my 2011 MBP i noticed the screen tone was much warmer than on my 2008 Macbook. all the colors look over saturated. i tried to change the color profiles, and the calibration tool, but it still looks horrible. i will try to post a picture showing both screens side by side so you can see what has been bothering me for a whole year now!

Dec 26, 2009I've been experiencing this issue off and on for about the past 10 months. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard tonight and the first time my Unibody MBP's screen saver came on and I got it back to the desktop the entire tint of the screen is intensely cooler. I have to go to Preferences>Display>Color and it automatically goes back to normal. The original "Color LCD" is highlighted, so it's not as if an entirely different profile got selected. If I click on Adobe RGB (1998) I get the exact same cool tint that I get when I unlock after the screen saver appears. Once again, it doesn't happen every time, but it does happen enough to sort of worry me.

Does image capture or other app built into snowleopard have color profile choices? I did not see any color profile options in the details view of image capture. All I see are millions or billions of color for the color options.

The color seems to be washed away somewhat dry looking. I have another one of the same laptops, and the display's colors seems far sharper and brighter.

If I clog the activity monitor up too much, the color wheel will come up, and I really hate it. I get very impatient when that happens - not because of it being there, but for some reason, the color wheel itself.
Is there a way to change it so that there is not the color wheel there, maybe something like a black and white color wheel or another gif.

Software :: Altering Preview Default Font Color / Size
Oct 7, 2008I have some PDF forms that I regularly need to fill out. Since they aren't "real" PDF forms and the document is locked, I need to print to PDF, save as TIFF and then use Preview's annotate feature to mark things up. It works well, but the default font color (red) and default font size (36) are not optimal. And each time I start a new annotation, I need to change back to black and a smaller font size. Is there any way to alter this default?

Jul 9, 2010I just installed iWork '08 on my new Macbook pro (snow leopard and general '09 programs are on it) and for some reason, the text coloring and highlighting, generally anything to do with the text and whatever appears on the pages themselves have completely gone blank. The highlight appears as this light purplish color, I can not get the text to read as visible. It appears white no matter what. Even the text blinker isn't showing. Is there a problem with installing iWork '08 on an '09 based Mac? This is a legal copy of iWork I've had since buying my first Mac, so I know it can't really be the disc screwing up, is there anyone that might be able to help? This is an image of the problem. As you can see, the black is the default font color, but it does not show up as it. Also, the general coloration of it is off.

Nov 14, 2009I just bought a Macbook from my cousin yesterday. It's in great shape and not very old, which is why I bought it. It's amazing how addictive it is, I've been PC person forever.
I immediately brought it home and installed all my programs, set a desktop photo, and opened photoshop. The coloring on my photos is off. I've tried using Supercal, and calibrating using the tool in the profiles, but I can't figure this out for anything. Being new to MAC, I'm just confused---
I use Firefox for my browser. The colors are perfect in it. When I change my profile and get it to somewhat make my photos look right (or like they did in my PC. All the photos seem to have like an orangey-yellowish look to them, not majorly, but editing photos isn't going to work with it like that.), then I open Firefox and my coloring is completely off on websites.
