I just purchased a new 15" MBP... have been searching for some color profiles, and downloaded a few found here.
However, when I go into my display file and switch between profiles, nothing changes. Also, when I click on different profiles, I get that "bong" sound when I hit the mouse.
I have a 2GHz unibody Macbook. I don't know how to figure out my color profile but I thought this a bit.
I compared my color to my friend's iMac and I noticed his colors were more bright and deep. Is there any way I can upload another color profile and make it look better?
before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
Anyone have a good color profile for their 9CA4 screen? Tried searching but I couldn't find much. I did come across a couple old ones, but they varied from one another so much that it was hard to judge which looked better.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis might be a stupid/silly question, but I'm going to go ahead and ask anyways since it's been bugging me all day.Brand new MBP 13", used the stock 250GB HD for a couple days but decided to get a bigger 7200RPM drive. So I know what the screen looked like with the initial factory install of OS X. Fast forward to later this afternoon after I put in the new drive. I re-installed the OS using a retail copy of Leopard instead of the bundled discs for the 13", and after everything was booted up I noticed the color profile was really off. Colors weren't as vibrant as before, and everything just looked so washed out. I noticed it right away, but did all the system updates to 10.5.8 hoping it was just a glitch. After a restart the colors was still off, and I verified via System Profile to make sure the GPU is being recognized etc.
Convinced myself to re-install this time using the discs that came with the MBP.After everything is installed, the color tones are back; much more vibrant colors and no longer looked washed out.So I guess my question is, is the retail copy of Leopard not installing the correct color profiles? If I was to do a fresh install of SL tomorrow would something similar happen (guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow I guess).
My MacBook Pro is connected to the LED Cinema Display. Every time it wakes from sleep, or sometimes after screensaver, it forgets the colour profile. I have to go system preferences and click display and then it automatically uses the correct profile. This happens on both the LED display and the MacBook screen. I am running Snow Leopard, and I don't think I had this issue before upgrading. I googled and found one thread on a different forum about the exact same issue, but no answer. I was messing around with mine trying to get rid of the purplish hue to all Blues and overwritten the default one. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2011 Macbook Pro, the higher end model with Snow Leopard. Before that i had a late 2008 unibody aluminum Macbook with Leopard. As soon as i started using my 2011 MBP i noticed the screen tone was much warmer than on my 2008 Macbook. all the colors look over saturated. i tried to change the color profiles, and the calibration tool, but it still looks horrible. i will try to post a picture showing both screens side by side so you can see what has been bothering me for a whole year now!

i really want to customize my macbook. i want to change the color logo to apple classic color. (but not for a while) the main thing i want to do is something like this [URL] the second picture to last. the guy with a suit and a hat, being covered with the apple logo. i want something like that, only not that image. you get the idea though. where can i get something like this? are they stickers as well? or are they laser engraved? i do not want it permanent on my macbook, since i get easily bored with the same look
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing this issue off and on for about the past 10 months. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard tonight and the first time my Unibody MBP's screen saver came on and I got it back to the desktop the entire tint of the screen is intensely cooler. I have to go to Preferences>Display>Color and it automatically goes back to normal. The original "Color LCD" is highlighted, so it's not as if an entirely different profile got selected. If I click on Adobe RGB (1998) I get the exact same cool tint that I get when I unlock after the screen saver appears. Once again, it doesn't happen every time, but it does happen enough to sort of worry me.

I used my Pantone Huey to calibrate bith my main display and my secondary (just switched primary display between the two machine)
Everything worked great but I have 2 profiles that have the exact same name.
I can open up the .icc and do a save as but that just changes the file name not the name displayed in sytem preferences
I installed XP through Boot Camp and the default color profile used just looks like crap. It's really washed out with dull colors and nothing like it is with Leopard loaded. What's the best way to fix that outside of using a monitor calibrator? I tried grabbing some pre-made color profiles off here to use since some of them had a Windows version with the Mac but I went into the color profiles tab in Windows to try and install the profile and when I selected to use it it didn't seem to change anything. I've never changed the LCD color profile in Windows before. Can anyone tell me how you did it?

Just finished the install and I am wowed by the color of my screen. I had been using a custom calibrated profile in Leopard. Snow Leopard defaulted it back and it is MUCH better than what I had. I tested my 'calibrated' profile and it is god awful now.
Anyone else experience a major improvement in color after the upgrade? What could the explanation be for this?

I tried image capture combined with newly downloaded snowleopard drivers for my epson perfection 4490 scanner. Does image capture or other app built into snowleopard have color profile choices? I did not see any color profile options in the details view of image capture. All I see are millions or billions of color for the color options.
I use AdobeRGB & sRGB color profiles for my scans.

I just bought a Macbook from my cousin yesterday. It's in great shape and not very old, which is why I bought it. It's amazing how addictive it is, I've been PC person forever.
I immediately brought it home and installed all my programs, set a desktop photo, and opened photoshop. The coloring on my photos is off. I've tried using Supercal, and calibrating using the tool in the profiles, but I can't figure this out for anything. Being new to MAC, I'm just confused---
I use Firefox for my browser. The colors are perfect in it. When I change my profile and get it to somewhat make my photos look right (or like they did in my PC. All the photos seem to have like an orangey-yellowish look to them, not majorly, but editing photos isn't going to work with it like that.), then I open Firefox and my coloring is completely off on websites.
I logged into my macbook pro the other day and I noticed that my picture was blank (by blank I mean that silhouette icon that you have with new accounts). So i opened my addressbook and reset my picture. A few minutes later, I noticed that my profile picture was reset to blank again so I changed it again and waited. Right before my eyes, the picture changed back to the silhouette again.

It seems stuck on the soccerball on the user profile in System Preferences. I've tried changing it to my picture and then tried changing it to one of the dumb icons that come with the system, and still won't change. I did unlock the lock in the lower left corner. I was even allowed to change my login items but I can't change the picture. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I did a search on this topic, but no results.
Has anyone here tried/done this to their MacBook? The site that sells it say it is extremely difficult. MacBook Pro is easier. I like to hear your input if you've attempted this.
Has anyone attempted to remove the LCD? If I get the Air I like to do this to the Apple logo. I did it on my MacBook and I love it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedJust got a new white MacBook yesterday (MB403LL/A) and have noticed, that depending on a slight change in viewing angle, pastel colors can get really distorted, even appearing as other colors, e.g., light green->gray and light orange to pink. One example would be Google calendar when editing an event. Looking at the screen in a normal position, the background appears gray, but when slumped down in my chair it looks green (the actual color). Is this a normal problem with MacBooks or could my display be defective? I took a couple snaps with iPhone that didn't turn out to hot but illustrate the point:

In the user profile there is a specified "linked" image. In my case it is the image that was created when my user ID was first established. I'd love to change it to a better image because evidently it gets linked with my messages etc. I'm running Yosemite (OS 10.10.1) on a relatively new iMac
