View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro 15.4" (Model: A1211). The LCD screen is broken and Iam trying to replace it. The original panel that came with the laptop was AU Optronics (BP154W01 V.1) with native resolution of 1440x900. Since I could not get the same panel, I ordered the LG Philips, LP154W02 B1 K2, model with a native resolution of 1680x1050.
Now, when I powerup the laptop the screen remains dark and the machine does not boot up. PS: With the damaged LCD connected, I connected the laptop to an external display and everything works perfectly.
Want to use CD sharing on my MacBook Air. In System Panel "sharing" the option CD/DVD is not listed, so can't activate the option. How to get this option in "sharing"?

Is it a glossy LCD behind the glass or a matte LCD behind the glass in glossy MBPs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI usually don't complain about stuff but I noticed last night on my MBP (one below) that I have some light leakage on the left and right side of the panel. When I have a dark wallpaper you can defiantly notice it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a 13" MacBook Pro. It's the unibody one, from June. The Bottom panel, on the left side, under the wasd keys, for example, if I press under there, it makes a clicky noise, like the panel is loose. Does anyone else have this? Just want to make sure it isn't bad, that it's normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been eyeing up the new 15" alu MBP but the 1440x900 screen is a bit crappy. Considering the cost of the damn thing I'd expect a higher-res screen; plus I've been staring my 15" MBP sitting beside my 1920x1200 monitor for almost 2 years and it's looking decidedly dated.
I've repaired broken laptops before, and I've got a friend with access to GSX service manuals so I'd be able to do the handwork. Unfortunately, I know damn all about panel compatibility. Basically I'd replacing a stock Apple panel with one sourced from a parts warehouse. I know Apple has a fetish for unusual mounts and hard-to-replace parts so my biggest fear would be buying a replacement panel and finding out that Apple uses panels with non-standard screw placements or brackets or something like that.
So my question is thusly, if I could find a 15.4" panel (and I know they do exist, HP has a couple of notebooks with 15.4"/1920x1200 panels) could I remove the screen from the alu MBP and drop in the replacement screen?I'd love to hear from someone who has tried it or succeeded, or even if it's just possible
I'm having problem, since I installed ram there is a slight "raise" to the hd/battery door on my aluminum macbook.
It closes but it appears just a hair higher then rest so if you run fingers from back to base you feel the part.
Is this normal? did I perhaps bend my base somehow?
I've got a Santa Rosa (mid 2007) Macbook Pro.
Where can I get the specifications of my display?
Before I had a 9c84 panel, went to System Preferences> Displays> Color> OPen Profile. Before (This was when I was running Leopard) I went down to 13 and found the panel type.
Now I get 'aagg' 'para' 32 parametric tone response curve on that line. Underneath in the description device manufacturer and device model are blank.
I've recently bought the stock 17" MBP and am loving it! However just a quick question to all those who have used it. I have noticed that when I pick it up, the bottom panel underneath sort of bends slightly when my fingers press against it. It feels like the alu is bending slightly only in certain places on the base. I may just be another paranoid mac freak but has anyone else found this? I had an old 15" MBP and didn't have any similar issues with that. Loving the computer tho, the screen is fantastic!
View 9 Replies View RelatedCan someone tell me the difference between LG LCD panels LP154WP2-TLA1 and the LP154WP3-TLA1? I have a Macbook Pro (A1226) with a broken screen. I dissasembled it and found that I have the LG LP154WP2-TLA1 panel. I have found a couple of the LP154WP3-TLA1 panels at a decent price, but not sure if it is compatable. Also, what is the difference in the TLA1, TLA2, TLA3, and TLA4 models? Are they all compatable with each other? Would any of the other manufacturers panels be compatable with the LP154WP2-TLA1 (Samsung LTN154BT02 or AUO B154PW04)?

I just booted into Windows and saw that there were some Windows Updates available and it asked me to reboot the computer however it failed to boot into Windows. So I restarted and tried to boot into OS X instead, but that didn't work either.
So I put in the OS X install DVD and checked out Disk Utility. Turned out that all my partitions where screwed up. There were 3 partitions listed as Windows_ldm, with incorrect sizes (I had 4 partitions before).
Long story short: I'm now reinstalling OS X and I lost everything I had on the drive, I think. I'll try some restore software once I've gotten OS X installed.
A little pissed right now... How the heck can Windows F up the entire drive?
Just got a new MP and I noticed that there is a gap in the side panel in the rear of the cabinet. The front pops in but the back does not. I can still close the latch but the panel does not come all of the way in and leaves a gap.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf anybody here has a camcorder with a Firewire output, can you check something for me? I'm trying to use the front panel FW port on my new Mac Pro and it doesn't see my camcorder (Canon GL2) when I plug it in to capture footage. It IS seen if I plug the same FW cable into the port on the back of the ACD so that seems to rule out a bad FW cable. Also, the port seems to be working because it will see a FW CF cardreader when I insert it into the port. Any ideas? Is there a difference between the front and rear FW ports on the latest Mac Pro?

It now only displays one large panel containing the list of emails, and to read an email I now have to double-click and open it in a second window.
How do I get back to the standard two panel display with one above the other?
It's a new 2.26 8 core.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two computers (Mac and PC) connected to a cable modem via Belkin router. Both can connect to the Internet.
My Power Mac G5 2Ghz has two internal hard drives. My primary boot drive has Leopard 10.5.6 and the secondary has Tiger 10.4.11.
I had the built in Firewall set for "Allow only Essential Services" then I changed it back to "Allow all incoming connections" before I installed Netbarrier X5. My access to the internet and router/control panel was fine.
Then suddenly my G5 (Leopard) was no longer able to log into the router/control panel only the PC (Windows XP). Tried Safari and Firefox and both come back with the error message "Safari can't connect to server."
When I boot the G5 into "Safe Mode" it is the same thing, can connect to the internet but have no access to the router control panel. So it can't be Netbarrier.
But If I my G5 reboot with my second drive that has Tiger. My access to the router's control panel is restored.
The displays on my flat panel iMac G4 (2003) suddenly have gone 'red': sometimes it will return to 'blue' and be ok. Is this a dying flat panel or can I fixit?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to reassign the front panel 3.5mm jack to mic in?
I'd like to connect a headset (mic + headphones) to be able to talk on Skype, but unfortunately there is no normal mic in just like on all Macs. I bought a cheap jack-to-USB converter (basically, small USB soundcard) on eBay but the sound is a little noisy when I use it.
