OS X :: DVD Player Controller Stuck Off Screen
Aug 10, 2009Does anyone know how to reset the position of the DVD Player app's controller? It's stuck off screen and I can't get to it.
View 4 RepliesDoes anyone know how to reset the position of the DVD Player app's controller? It's stuck off screen and I can't get to it.
View 4 RepliesThe DVD player controller is trapped off screen. If I "open control door" from the menu i can see it just poking out but can't move it.
That's a screenshot of the bottom left corner of the screen with the control door open, with it closed you cannot see it at all.
No one else seems to have had this problem from my searching but is there a way to reset the position or something?
Imade the giant leap from panther to Lion and after the disasterous update , I got rid of what I consider Apples version of Windows Vista and had them give me SL . Im very happy with SL , but want the same controler in the corner that im used to instead of the whole bottom of the screen being the contoler . After I click out full screen , I see the controler but not in full screen mode .

I just "upgraded" to Lion and have noticed some annoying quirks. I can no longer zoom in Movies on DVD Player and am stuck watching movies in widescreen. Is there any way to reinstall an older version of DVD Player? Are there any alternate programs to watch DVD's (not converted, full versions) which allow zoom?

After a series of events with my MBPro's screen going weird purple/magenta color intermittently and making text all but illegible, I ran the AHT (Apple Hardware Test).
This returned an error stating there was a problem with the video controller:
"4VDC/1/40000003:Video Controller"
The machine's about 3 years old.
I tried uploading pictures with my s.card and then I plugged in my back up storage disk to transfer pictures and then my computer stopped working as if it was overloaded or something.... I tried forcing quit but that didn't help any. So I just shut it down in hopes that when it restarted it would work but now when it restarts the login screen comes up and after I type my password it just stays on snow leopard default screen(purple sky) and stays there.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi had firefox open and i was typing on another site. i opened the special characters window because i needed a unique symbol. when i tried closing that window, it froze. i proceeded to quit firefox so it would go away. it stayed on my screen though, even with firefox closed. next i thought my computer was just being buggy. so, i completely shut it down for a while and logged back on. the window is still there and won't go away.
here's a screenshot i took so you can visually see what's going on here: [URL}
after the previous attempts didn't work i've tried completely removing firefox from my computer and redownloading it, which didn't work, and restoring my system, which also didn't work.
I have icons stuck on screen and will not got away, what can i do?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSometimes I watch documentaries and take notes for class and it would be nice to have VLC player lay on top of word and be transparent. I don't need it to be full screen. It's also nice to watch a video while browsing the internet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI see that you can make video screen captures in Snow Leopard, using Quicktime Player's New Screen Movie feature. This is great for my needs, except for one thing: They're too big. It makes life-size recordings of my entire 1,900 x 1,200 screen, and the files seems to come out around 11 megabytes per minute of video. I don't see a way to resize the screen capture videos to a smaller size, in Quicktime Player. Is there a way?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI ran software update and got (iPhoto, itunes, Security patch) so I ran it and downloaded everything except the Intel Security Patch. So I restarted and decided to try again. Restart didn't work as it got stuck and I had to reach around and restart by holding down the power button. When it came back up, I got the white screen with the grey apple logo and the spinning clock like icon..... spinning and that is where I am stuck, left it off all night and tried it in the morning, same thing.
I did try:
-resetting pram (nothing happened)
-restart in safe mode, holding down shift key (nothing, stuck on screen)
I would try to start up from the OSX disk except I have a DVD in the machine. I am thinking it was that security update that didn't download fully that is doing this but how do I get the imac, "unstuck"? or how do I manually eject that DVD to put in a OSX start up disk?
I am a new MacBook user. I have a 20" cinema display, and often, once I have disconnected the display I find that application windows which sat in the left side of the 20" screen are now stuck partially or fully outside the MacBook screen. Is there an easy way to bring them back?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm using Macbook Pro Unibody (late 2008). 2.4GHz, 2GB Ram. Mac OS X. So I'm in the library right now and tried to start my computer, and it is just stuck on the blue screen. It worked fine like an hour ago, I don't know what happened. So I hear the chime, and the white screen with apple logo. And then, blue screen and I see that little circle thing going around and around on and off, but nothing. I do hear the fan and hardware. I tried to do PRAM reset, but it doesn't work? I tried to look for other posts with similar symptoms, but couldn't find anything.

View 3 Replies View Relatedeverytime I try to boot my iMac it gets stuck at the first grey screen. No logo, no loader, nothing but a grey screen. I have tried everything here > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570 > with no results. The grey screen remains there, with no changes. The only thing that seems to work, but only for a seconds, is holding the option (alt) key at startup. After a few seconds, the pointer of the mouse appears.

I just installed and updated some new software on our MacBook, and restarted it to enable all of the features. However, when I restarted it, the desktop picture showed up with the loading icon at the bottom. I believe this is what it does to prepare the MacBook for reboot after new software has been installed, but it has been stuck in this mode for about 25 minutes.Â
Is this normal for a MacBook to do for some software? And should I just wait it out or should I hold down the power button to force shutdown?Â
In case it is important, the software I installed is Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition.

With the Apple sign and the timer spinning. I am unable to get to the screen where i can input my password at all. The macbook is about 6 months old and is running on Lion. whether this is hardware, software or virus? I have tried some different key press combinations to reset the MacBook to factory default setting but the problem is, no image was taken of the macbook in time machine and when bought, it did not come with a disc with OSX on.Â

My late 2008 macbook pro 2.4 ghz 4gb Ram 250 gb HD has mavericks on it im not sure exactly which version but I know its mavericks. When I boot it sticks on the apple logo with spinning wheel. When I boot into OSX utilities I get stuck. I can move the mouse but cant click on anything. Hitting the up and down keys lets me highlight the 4 available options which are "restore from time machine backup" + " reinstall osx" + "get support online" + "disk utility"  I cannot choose any of these options no matter what buttons I press or how many times I try to click on it. Press up or down and I can change what is highlighted between the 4 choices immediately.Â

After downloading the latest Mavericks software on my MacBook Air, the process asked my to open my account. I could not remember my password and as instructed, requested to change it. Off it went, with the little wheel turning madly and 5 days later it continues to do so, with me unable to turn the computer off or in any way restart it. It's stuck in the on position, with the wheel madly turning around and around.Â
It says to exit windows but I can't get at it because the screen is unresponsive.Â
