OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Get The Regular Controller To Show In The Dvd Player?
Feb 15, 2012
Imade the giant leap from panther to Lion and after the disasterous update , I got rid of what I consider Apples version of Windows Vista and had them give me SL . Im very happy with SL , but want the same controler in the corner that im used to instead of the whole bottom of the screen being the contoler . After I click out full screen , I see the controler but not in full screen mode .
Info:
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 2.5Ghz intel core i7 , 4gb 1333 mhz
My girlfriend bought a new mac over the summer and is eligible for the UTD program. I am worried though that the UTD program may only be an upgrade for Leopard - and not the regular install disk - so if we ever had to do a complete reinstall (hey, you never know) we would be unable to do so. Does anyone know if the UTD & regular snow leopard disks contain the same bits? MD5 comparison might be helpful.
I've recently been experiencing regular White Screen of Death's on my MacPro Eight-core. It has been occuring for the past 5 days or so, with no apparent logical explanation (It has often happened whilst the machine is idling, but has also happened whilst I have been using it for various things). I've got a copy of the report, which I'll summarise below:
I'm about to pick up a used Mac Mini 2.0GHz, 160HD, 1GB RAM, and with Snow Leopard Server. I don't know much about the Snow Leopard Server OS and I was wondering if I should stick with regular Snow Leopard. I'm only using the Mac Mini for HTPC and streaming media to my iPhone and iPad.
Is there a command to force time sync on Snow Leopard machines? I have lots machine which are joined to windows domain controller using third party utility (AdmitMac by Thursby). Even though under Day & Time system preference, I have set the machine to sync to our server but machine are still not correcting the time.
I have tried following methods to force the machines to sync: I have manually selected the machine to sych with Apple but that does not change the time at all (even after couple of reboots)Changing the date and time to something completely different (year, month and day) then rebooted machine then force it back to our server but that does not change machine time either.Only thing which has worked so far is that I have manually adjusted that time to match the next working machine. All of this has caused me lot of trouble in Mac labs because machine will not allow anyone to login and I have remove it from the domain and then re-join back.
I have had my mac for a little of year, a few days ago I downloaded a few things. Since then it takes it about 10-15 minutes to start up, even after it starts up it takes a few more minutes for things to work at a regular speed. I have cleared firefox cache and reset the Pram.
Am I right in thinking it's better to leave your Mac alone and maybe run disk utility once in a while. Will regular use of Onyx, Memory Freer, Disk Diet etc slow down the Mac and cause more problems longer than benefits they give you in the short-term.I do use these apps regularly especially Onyx. I have noticed the beach ball appearing recently and I have read tonight that programs like Onyx can slow down your machine.
OS loads very slowly...then once it does load, regular apps load okay, but safari and firefox and finder will not show up. it goes to sleep much faster than it usually does. i get spinning beachballs all the time. strangely, if i click a link in adium, it will come up in safari just fine.
Whenever I run World of warcraft and try and watch a dvd the OS locks up and I have to hold down the power key to reboot (force quit doesn't respond) Don't recall this happening with Leopard but might not have tried it as I'm a relatively new Mac user. Wondering if anyone else has encountered this/ has a fix for it, if not then will have to hope its fixed in an upcoming patch.
I had to uninstall all apple products because there STUPID upgade won't work with SpeedBit, therefore I had to put Quicktime Pro 7 in my external hard drive, but when I uninstalled quicktime, I wrote down the key and also found out the purchase number, but neither keys work to get quicktime 7 pro back. All I want to do now is get my Quicktime 7 Pro Key to open said folder.

I am having problems installing the new version for flash. I have already tried multiple times and I keep getting mesages that I need to update and install the lastest version. I troubleshouted according to directions, unistalled and installed several times and nothing.
Did I waste $29? What did I gain? Time Machine? Preview of icons? Pretty name and package doesn't mean it's quality. I like apple stuff, but this seems like a money grab.
With the introduction of Snow Leopard, QuickTime Player will assume more of a utilitarian role, with screen recording features reportedly joining the software's exiting repertoire of basic audio and video capture capabilities. People familiar with the latest betas of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard have been reporting over the past several weeks the addition of a 'Screen recording' option in the File menu of the new Quick Time X Player due to ship with the OS overhaul later this summer.
Similar in many ways to a feature long offered by Ambrosia Software through its Snapz Pro X utility, the option will allow users to capture in motion video their Mac's screen -- essentially video screenshots. Such a feature will be particularly useful for software developers and educators, as it will simplify the process of creating video tutorials, software demonstrations, and anything else best captured in live motion as opposed to still shots.
When selecting the screen recording option under recent pre-release distributions of Snow Leopard, a recording interface prompts the user to begin a video capture then disappears. A small footprint controller in the upper-right hand side of the Mac OS X menubar can be used to end the video capture. While its unclear if the feature is fully functional in build 10A335 released Thursday, it wasn't in earlier builds, often creating an empty .mov file, those familiar with the software say. QuickTime X -- along with the minimal-interfaced QuickTime X Player (renditions) -- leverages media technology pioneered by Apple for the iPhone OS. When it makes its debut on the Mac with Snow Leopard, it'll offer optimize support for modern audio and video formats resulting in extremely efficient media playback, the company has said. I accidentally deleted quicktime player from my MBP running snow leopard and now when I try to re download the app it says I can't install it because I have Quicktime X on my computer. How do I go about reinstalling quicktime player?
I have a new MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.4. The DVD player does not have a feature to store film clips. Why? This is useful for my work and I had it on my older computer? Why the loss of capacity?
Anyone noticed when making Combined pdf files (into single document) that Acrobat Pro only shows the first page, and not the full document. Meaning that one has to manually pull the sidebar down to scroll other pages? My install went perfectly, aside from a few minor glitches, Illustrator and Photoshop (CS4) quit now and again, but removed permissions, restarted and repaired permissions and is a lot more manageable now. Safari and Mail are almost twice as fast now. Let's see how soon 10.6.1 appears.
I use my computers to work with my family tree. I have been looking for a new program that meets my needsd for a family tree program. Among the features is the ability to type in Ukrainian (cyrillic/unicode/utf script). I type in Ukrainian for other programs (I am not fluent, just need some ability). I have the language and keyboards installed and they work great will all the other programs.
The program I want to use is Gramps (genealogy software) which I tried a couple years ago (and it had a shortcoming at that time) and the old version was on my computer. I have deleted it, including in Application Support. When I imported my GEDCOM file, I was ecstatic that all the cyrillic characters were there. However, when I went to type in Ukrainian, the letters were "greeked". A suggestion from the Gramps group was to ensure that my "locale" was set to "utf-8" which I did. This did nothing, even after rebooting and reinstallling. The database was fine, but still unable to type in Ukrainian.
