View 4 RepliesI have OS 10.6.1 and I want to convert some FLV files generated by download helper in Fire fox from youtube.com to an MPEG file I can convert to an MP3. When I had tiger, this was easy as cake. I would use Switch and iSquint to do it. Sadly, iSquint is no longer being developed, visualhub no longer works because the key in 10.4 didnt get moved to 10.6 and now its perma-broken. Switch just crashes now. Searched all over for something that works and does what I want but they all want me to pay money. I have XP but I am on the verge of dropping snow leopard because I dont notice the improvement except my printer is not supported and half of my programs do not work now.

View 24 Replies View RelatedThis should really be directed at Elgato but I reckon I'll get a quicker answer from you guys I'm thinking about picking up an EyeTV Hybrid, which can receive digital terrestrial channels. Here in NZ, Freeview HD uses MPEG-4 and AAC, and I can't find any information about whether EyeTV supports these formats. Does anyone know?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've have got a sony dcr-sr75 camcorder, it records in the mpeg format. This makes me have to convert all the files before being able to use them in iMovie. Also the mpeg files seem to have very low playback quality when comparing to playback in Windows xp. Do you guys have any suggestions how I could edit in iMovie 09 without having to convert into another format and suggest a solution for the quality loss in Mac OSX.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went to the website and looked for the program called "Burn" but I couldn't tell what files it uses. I have .avi and .mkv files and I need them to play on a DVD player. I know if they are converted to Video_TS files that BURN will put those on a DVD but I need to know if I can go straight from .mkv and .avi or mpeg to a DVD that can be played on a DVD player using the Burn program.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to throw a iMovie I made to my friends HD from my computer, but I only have it saved as a iMovie Project and he wouldn't be able to watch it. How do I export it as a .mpeg or .avi? It's not under file in iMovie either. I only have the choice to import and no export.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open the file, I get the following error: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file. Following others' advice on a similar thread in this forum, I downloaded the Perian plug-in for Quicktime, and bought the upgrade to Quicktime Pro and the additional QuicktimeMPEG2 upgrade (though I think my file is just an mpeg). But I'm still getting the same error message. I have been able to play the video with VLC, so I don't think the file is the problem. The reason I'm not just using VLC is that I need to be able to go forward and backward frame-by-frame because I'm using still images for a publication. Also, if there's an alternative program to Quicktime and VLC that allows moving forward and backwards frame by frame and taking snapshots, that would also solve the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was able previously to import mpeg video from my Sony Cybershot into iMovie and work with it. Somehow today, I get a message saying "Can't open file. Skipping it and continuing." I tried all kinds of settings in Preferences. Recently I reinstalled my Panther OSX. Maybe that has something to do with it? Would be great if someone could point me in the right direction here.

I'm converting from a PC to a iMac and am having trouble with movies playing that I've transferred. My MPEG movies show on the Mac as File Type "MPEG Movie" and my WMV files show as File Type "Plain Text". When I click either of these on it gives me an error that says the files are not movie files and they cannot be played.
What do I have to do to get these movies to play on the Mac?
