I went to the website and looked for the program called "Burn" but I couldn't tell what files it uses. I have .avi and .mkv files and I need them to play on a DVD player. I know if they are converted to Video_TS files that BURN will put those on a DVD but I need to know if I can go straight from .mkv and .avi or mpeg to a DVD that can be played on a DVD player using the Burn program.

Here in NZ, Freeview HD uses MPEG-4 and AAC, and I can't find any information about whether EyeTV supports these formats. Does anyone know?

I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
I am trying to back up some DVD is I OWN.I used MTR to get the Video_TS folder on my HD.I have been trying to get Burn to create a disk that will work on my stand alone DVD player (which supposedly supports DVD -/+R and RW well as DivX).WHICH TYPE OF DISK DO I TELL BURN TO CREATE? I've been trying to burn on to dual layer disk i.e 8.5 GB.Video_TS foldeer is 7 GBIf I chose the DATA TAB tell Burn to create a "DVD-video disk" I get a disk that my computer can play in the DVD App that functions like a DVD, BUT my stand alone DVD player won't recognise it. View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open the file, I get the following error: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file. Following others' advice on a similar thread in this forum, I downloaded the Perian plug-in for Quicktime, and bought the upgrade to Quicktime Pro and the additional QuicktimeMPEG2 upgrade (though I think my file is just an mpeg). But I'm still getting the same error message. I have been able to play the video with VLC, so I don't think the file is the problem. The reason I'm not just using VLC is that I need to be able to go forward and backward frame-by-frame because I'm using still images for a publication. Also, if there's an alternative program to Quicktime and VLC that allows moving forward and backwards frame by frame and taking snapshots, that would also solve the problem.

I'm trying to convert the file to an .mov file that is 23.976 fps and plays at 23.976 fps, but every time I try the result looks choppy. Does anyone know how I can convert a strange file like this to a proper, 23.976 fps file, preferably an .mov?

Anyone else having trouble opening MPEG files in QuickTime? I was able to fine until installing Leopard. The file is not corrupt or anything. I tried several MPEG files and none of them open. I get the following message.

Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a very old foreign film I need to burn onto a DVD. Right now it's in two parts - a first part .avi and a second part .avi. The subtitles are .srt for the first part and .sub for the second part (so four files altogether with two video files and two subtitle files).
I have a PS3 that can read computer type files and has worked for other movies and things I've burned onto DVDs and even CDs, but apparently it won't show the subtitles in these files so I need to convert it or something. I am trying in iDVD but it's not letting me put the .srt or .sub files in there.
What is the easiest way to do this? I'm not very technically proficient, so please use layman's terms.
I have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?
Sorry if its been covered but I went through 4 pages and didn't see this asked. This morning I looked at the new movie section and saw most come in around 1.3gb or so, which seems too small to burn to dvd with any amount of quality.
So are these movie downloads strictly for ipods? If so, I just can't see spending $10-13 to do this.
I've been trying to burn a DVD from iPhoto's slideshow.
From reading a thread here, I export the Slideshow to iMovie. Which is made into a .mov flie. Then I add some stuff and edited the movie under iMovie. But then I couldn't find a way to burn it unto a non-computer playable format. So I export it from iMovie to iDVD.
So far seems alright.... ready to burn the DVD and all..... but here's the problem:-
1) The oginal photos are around 500MB, after I made it into .mov file... it's like 800MB. After I edited it under iMovie (Just some extra text and all) it became a whopping 9.5GB!!! Too large even for a blank DVD...Have I done anything wrong?
2) Picture quality on iPhoto was excellent.. but when made into .mov the quality was awful...... Anyway to improve the quality?
