OS X V10.7 Lion :: Cannot Open MPEG Files On IMac - Additional Software Required

Jan 31, 2012

I'm trying to work on compiling a "family video" with clips from my siblings. They all use PCs and I'm the only Mac, but they're sending me Mpeg files that I can't open. I get a notification that I need "additional software" in order to open those files and get them working in iMovie.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: QuickTime Support For MPEG-2 Format Missing

Jun 28, 2012

My OSX is Lion, (10.7.4) but the Quicktime support for MPEG-2 format is missing. When I look in the Quicktime system library there is QuicktimeMPEG.component & QuicktimeMPEG4.component, but no QuicktimeMPEG2.component. So, I presume its not there. How do I fix this? Do I have to re-install something? I had Quicktime 10.1 on my system, but have now also installed Quicktime 7.6.6.I need to work with some MPEG-2 videos & convert them to MPEG-4 format. I gather I can do this with MPEG Streamclip, but not if MPEG-2 support is missing!

OS X V10.7 Lion :: MPEG Stream-clip On It - "Error: Can't Create The MOV File"

Mar 1, 2012

I need to rip a project from DVD I did a while back. But every time I try to Export the VS file to Quicktime I get the following message "Error: Can't Create The MOV File".  I'm using the latest version of Lion on an Intel Mac Pro, along with MPEG Streamclip 1.9 3b7. I have checked that I have all the MPEG2 Components installed (Apple MPEG2 CODEC.component & Quicktime MPEG2 Component).

I checked out the MPEG Streamclip website and followed their instructions to install the components again from my Final Cut Studio Disks but when I double click the PKG file from my original Final Cut Studio disk I can't use it as it was for a PowerPC application. I have the upgrade disks for Final Cut Studio 3 but these don't hold the necessary PKG's! The thing is, my Quicktime 7 is the PRO version. So, should this not mean that I should be able to convert files using MPEG Streamclip?

QuickTime :: Error -2002: A Bad Public Movie Atom Was Found In The Movie

Jun 11, 2012

Okay, so I am here at work, and have spent the last 4-5 hours trying to resolve this issue, and cannot find any working solutions for it on the internet. We have .3gp recordings. All of a sudden, we started getting this error on some of our computers.  Example: I want to play test.3gp; I try to open test.3gp in QuickTime, and I get an error that reads...

"Error -2002: A bad public movie atom was found in the movie:test.3gp" But when I go to play test2.3gp, it plays fine. This issue varies from computer to computer. I get this error on all three of my machines. 2 Windows 7 64bit, and 1 Windows 7 32bit. My colleague and boss can play test.3gp fine through QuickTime on their computers. One is Windows 7 64bit the other is 32bit.

Anyone know some causes of this and hopefully a way to solve it? I tried cleaning up registry errors, running as administrator, updating, reinstalling... Nothing is working.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Turn VOB Files Into DVD Movie

Feb 25, 2012

I came across a computer that had something like a "DVD MOVIE" file.

It was basically vob files packaged inside a "DVD MOVIE" so when you clicked on it, it would play like a dvd movie.  I have extracted some VOB files from a DVD disc to have a "VIDEO_TS" folder containing the movie, but of course I can only play the VOB files in a program like VLC...my question is - What do i need to do to put these vob files into this "DVD FILE" folder or whatever so i can just click on it and it play a normal dvd? It may have said "Movie file"..

Mar 15, 2012

Saw today in Lions new layout under "This Computer" that my harddrive contains 147GB (out of 320 GB) of movies.

Is there any clever way to track those movie files.

The movie files are probably spread all over the computer. I have for instace made a great deal of Final Cut clips

that tend to be saved in several copies spread in different folders. Besides that, I probably have film and film clips in every imaginable file format that have been saved and forgotten through the years :-) (my iMac is from -07)

OS X :: Cannot Work With MPEG's In Mac OSX?

Feb 9, 2009

I've have got a sony dcr-sr75 camcorder, it records in the mpeg format. This makes me have to convert all the files before being able to use them in iMovie. Also the mpeg files seem to have very low playback quality when comparing to playback in Windows xp. Do you guys have any suggestions how I could edit in iMovie 09 without having to convert into another format and suggest a solution for the quality loss in Mac OSX.
