Anyone have any suggestions to a (hopefully free) software program? I don't want to pay $29.99 for Quicktime Pro since I dont know if it will work. The MPEG 2 is exported from my Tivo.

I got a "Get info" on the file and found out that it is a MPEG-1 audio file type, unlike all other of my songs that are mp3's. What I need is an application that will open this file, convert it and let me save it as an mp3. QT will not even open this file.

I have an .mpeg file that says it is 29.97 frames per second, but when ever I press play, it plays at about 23.976 frames per second. I'm trying to convert the file to an .mov file that is 23.976 fps and plays at 23.976 fps, but every time I try the result looks choppy. Does anyone know how I can convert a strange file like this to a proper, 23.976 fps file, preferably an .mov?

Is there a converter for OpenOffice docs that will open them in Pages (my preference) or Word ?
Any familiar with OpenOffice? Is it necessary to receive a zip file every time from him? He's technically inept and perhaps I can just tell him how to export the proper file.
If I make a file on gurageband, how do I turn it into a itunes file, I've saves it, then changes it to like. ".mp3" but that only saves my vocals, and I want to save the whole song. (with beats, etc.)

Some of which I would like to be able to burn to a DVD for personal use or to give to family and friends. My problem comes when trying to burn a certain video file formats to a DVD, one especially that will playback on a standard DVD player. The types of files I am interested in converting to DVD-playable are: .m2ts, .avi, .mp4, .mpeg, .mkv. Again, I would like to convert these movies, then burn them to a DVD to easily watch them on my home theater system's DVD player. So I beg the question, "Is this all possible?", "What file formats are commonly used to play from DVDs on a DVD player?" and "Are there any freeware based applications to get this job done?"

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am working on a project where I am to supply simple little cartoons which are to duplicate the look of drawings on a whiteboard - nothing fancy - line drawings in black, blue, red or green. My client, however, wants the files in AVI or WMV so his video guy can edit them and add corny video transitions. Ultimately they are intended for an intranet educational website.
But they do NOT want SWF files. They insist on getting AVI or WMV files. I am working with Flash 8 Pro (CS2) on my PowerMac G4 using Mac OS 10.3.9. I also have a PC running XP, but it doesn't have Flash. I've tried a free SWF > AVI converter which only works on Windows, but when it actually works, it takes a 12 KB SWF file and generates a 218 MB AVI file! Is there some easier solution?
I have a microsoft word document that I need to print out and this document is located on my notebook pc. Unfortunately, I can't seem to print this document on my notebook pc either wirelessly or through usb connection. I am able to print wirelessly/and or through usb connection on my imac computer. My question is how to do I convert a microsoft word document into a pdf file so I can print this on my imac computer?
As I am completely new to the mac operating system, I was also wondering if I could send this word document as an attachment to my e-mail address, open up the document and then print it. Is this possible? I appreciate any feedback/info on how to resolve this issue.
My Macbook pro just got sick! It now doesn't turn on, and the Apple Store says it will only be ready on Friday. I have a project to hand in tomorrow. The nice guy at the shop sent me the PAGES file I need, but now all I have access to is Microsoft Word. So, I am appealing to someone who has iWork to convert this PAGES file into .doc format, so I can try and hand it in tomorrow.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to rip a project from DVD I did a while back. But every time I try to Export the VS file to Quicktime I get the following message "Error: Can't Create The MOV File". I'm using the latest version of Lion on an Intel Mac Pro, along with MPEG Streamclip 1.9 3b7. I have checked that I have all the MPEG2 Components installed (Apple MPEG2 CODEC.component & Quicktime MPEG2 Component).
I checked out the MPEG Streamclip website and followed their instructions to install the components again from my Final Cut Studio Disks but when I double click the PKG file from my original Final Cut Studio disk I can't use it as it was for a PowerPC application. I have the upgrade disks for Final Cut Studio 3 but these don't hold the necessary PKG's! The thing is, my Quicktime 7 is the PRO version. So, should this not mean that I should be able to convert files using MPEG Streamclip?
I went to the website and looked for the program called "Burn" but I couldn't tell what files it uses. I have .avi and .mkv files and I need them to play on a DVD player. I know if they are converted to Video_TS files that BURN will put those on a DVD but I need to know if I can go straight from .mkv and .avi or mpeg to a DVD that can be played on a DVD player using the Burn program.

I use MPEG streamclip and sometime i get an error after converting saying that file cannot be played, not a movie file. thought when i play it in AVI format it works fine. Also another problem I have is the sound doesnt work sometime in the MP4 format but it does in the AVI format. Any thoughts on converters that I can buy that possibly work faster?

I'm using VisualHub and when converting an .avi file to dvd the audio is out of sync. avi file works fine on mac in quicktime but when it gets burnt to dvd so I can watch it on tv that's where the problem lies. Other avi files I have burnt to dvd have been fine so why this particular one? would anyone know the work around for this?

Now it happends that I need to convert this movies to be able to use them (create family videos etc). View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open the file, I get the following error: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file. Following others' advice on a similar thread in this forum, I downloaded the Perian plug-in for Quicktime, and bought the upgrade to Quicktime Pro and the additional QuicktimeMPEG2 upgrade (though I think my file is just an mpeg). But I'm still getting the same error message. I have been able to play the video with VLC, so I don't think the file is the problem. The reason I'm not just using VLC is that I need to be able to go forward and backward frame-by-frame because I'm using still images for a publication. Also, if there's an alternative program to Quicktime and VLC that allows moving forward and backwards frame by frame and taking snapshots, that would also solve the problem.
